I bought this in mid March at $10; Now it is $12? I am new to Scleral lenses, but have used RGP lenses for years. That said, the bowl of the scleral has be be overfilled with saline to avoid bubbles at insertion.
A funnel (tea light underneath) also works and you can see the light through the hole. I tried a penlight against the clear stand, but it really did not shine UP through the hole. The stand would work well if you travel. Easier to pack than a funnel.

IF you are wearing Scleral Lens, DISREGARD that video. She is inserting a SOFT lens using the DMV stand. I wear one Acuvue Soft lens (left eye) and one Scleral lens (right eye). No stand needed for a soft lens at all. Easy to insert. with fingers only. Biotrue solution is used for Soft lens only, not hard Scleral lens. Most Scleral users cut off the bottom of the DMV Inserter to see through it AND to keep it clean.
You should insert contact lens BEFORE you put on makeup.

I have the misfortune of suffering from movement disorders affecting my fine motor coordinator and post lasik ectasia. I’ve tried everything from the scleral ring applicator from the dry eye shop dot com (highly recommend this online shop) to the $150 see-green system light and stand to help me insert my sclerals with my dystonic and shaky hands. I purchased this one to keep in my car in case I need this on the road. I tried this and I actually prefer this to the $150 system! I have a tiny bathroom, and I have to put a cafeteria tray ($3 on Amazon ) over my bathroom sink to give me a surface to insert and remove my sclerals. I cover the tray with a microfiber cloth and place the stand on it. I prefer this $13 system over the see-green system because the stand is taller and I don’t have to bend down as far. I find that I can still see through the hole in the plunge without a light. I’m just careful to gently push my face down so I don’t knock over the stand or poke my eye.

I had to get medically necessary scleral lenses & watched a few videos beforehand. A Dr. recommended a tool like this. I can say this is a time saver & stress reliever! So difficult to use 1 hand because the lenses are so much larger. I am so happy I ordered this before I got my lenses. Best money spent!

Like any product, it takes a bit of practice to get right. The nice part is I was able to add a light base and the light helps guide me when adding the lenses. Definitely a lot easier than trying to do it free hand. It took me a week to get a hang of it, now I’m able to add my contacts with more confidence. Great product, reasonable price.

Fine, but this is totally overpriced. Make yourself a favor and 3d-print your own, or get it from a-l-i-b-a-ba

I was diagnosed with Keratoconus and I use a scleral lens to improve my vision. I had a hard time at the doctor’s office inserting it with the tripod method. I then tried the method where you hold the inserter tool with the lens in one hand while trying to hold your eye lids with your other hand. My lids were drooping and my doc was very patient thank goodness. She could tell I was discouraged and showed me a method I used until I found this stand. She took a cup and punctured the bottom and then stuck the inserter on it with the lens. While that was absolutely genius….. I didn’t have a fixation target. It’s also inconvenient to take a cup around especially to insert your lens again if you have to take it out. I started my research and stumbled upon this by accident because I was ordering the inserter and plunger removal tools. This stand is fantastic!!!! It collapses so it’s easy to travel with and it’s clear so it allows you to look through the plunger while it holds the lens for you! This then allows you to look through the hole on the bottom of the plunger (that you cut off with scissors). If you use a light (I purchased pupil light pen on Amazon. This will also help you see if you have a bubble in your lens.) I lay the pen flat up against the stand and this allows the light to shine through the stand. This helps create a fixation target. You can focus on that while inserting the lens with both hands (one hand holding you upper lid and the other holding your lower lid) and SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING. This really has saved me!! I’m a new scleral lens user (1 week) and I’m so happy I started to do research.

I know this review is lengthy but I hope it provides you with help and hope so you don’t feel defeated like I did! Totally get this and get the light too!!

This little tool makes things incredibly easier. A must have even though it’s a little too expensive.

This was perfect for what I needed. I can put on my gas permeable lenses by hand, but I did realize that by using the stand, I was doing better keeping more liquid and making the seal between my eye and the contact much better. Especially considering that the other options available are super expensive. This is exactly what I needed. I like that you can disassemble it making it easy for storage, the only slight annoying thing is at the circle is slightly too big for where I store my stuff but for how easy it is to use I am OK with handling that.

It does work – I find it’s the only way to get my scleral lenses in as I need my hands free to open my eye-lids fully. But it’s very expensive for some plastic parts
If you have a glass table it works really well by placing your phone on your lap and lighting upwards to find the centre hole.
