This shield, despite the few less than enthusiastic reviews here on this site, is a well made part which fit my car (2004 Mazda 3s) perfectly. The shield is very sturdy, came in nearly flat (not warped) and nearly mimics the original shield in all respects (which, in fact, is not a good thing because the round cutout for allowing to change the oil filter is still not aligned with the filter but the hole is actually closer to the filter than on the original shield.) Comes with the necessary hardware (nuts/clips and screws). Considering the price of an OEM shield, this is an exceptional buy – 5 star.

The good news: incredible price with all new bolts and brackets. My wife hit a hole and tore the original off the car. Hardware went missing. Includes the metal brace/bar along the edge that stiffens the assembly. All holes fit as per OEM. The kinda bad news: for the 2010 Mazda 3 2.0L engine, you have to modify the shield to duplicate the OEM hole around the oil filter and near area. The good news: the material is sturdy and takes effort to cut cleanly. Overall, great value that requires some modification to install at a price that is excellent.

Also needed: 2 x 1/2 in. push-in automotive fasteners, lower side panels for engine splash shield (BP4K-56-114D, BP4K-56-115F), car ramps
I received the parts on time, in new condition. Installation was simple, but took about an hour. The trickiest part was holding the panel in place and interlocking the tabs which help align it in the correct position, while screwing in the bolts. Be sure to secure the vehicle , and wait for the engine to cool. Protect your eyes from falling rust and debris.
The splash shield shipped with a bag of all the required hardware, including bolts and 2 large push-in fasteners. I could only see that one nylon fastener was needed for my car, but it might be needed for a different model. After assembly, I noticed 2 smaller mounting holes near the front bumper, which were too small for the included fasteners, but too large for the remaining bolts in the assembly kit. I picked up a pair of 1/2 inch push-in nylon fasteners from the local hardware store , and these are holding fine.
NOTE: To mount the under engine splash shield, I also needed the side panels which attach inside the wheel wells. When my original splah shield ripped off, parts of the 2 mounting panels also broke. The parts I needed were: BP4K-56-114D, BP4K-56-115F. They did not come with hardware, but I was able to reuse the existing bolts and push-in fasteners that were still attached to the vehicle.

I purchased this for a 2005 Mazda 3s after the factory part was destroyed by years of mechanics pulling it down to change oil filter versus removing the screws. The final blow was unavoidably hitting a piece of metal someone had not secured to their truck properly and left in middle of road. This Dorman replacement was excellent quality and holes aligned perfectly. It even had the metal blind nuts like the OE pan. The plastic was very sturdy yet not brittle. Would definitely recommend this product.

Just finished installing on my daughters car (2008 Mazda 3 GT). Fits perfectly, made of high quality materials. Very easy to install, The hardest part is removing the old broken one with rusted out bolts. and the only modification I did was cut out a circle to access the oil filter, so when I take it in for an oil change they don’t have to remove the whole thing again. Highly recommended.

The panel was a little warped and oil filter hole is on wrong side.
The fittings had torn through the plastic bag and became loose in box. One fixing bolt was missing as a result. Easy to fit however.
Be Money –
I didn’t have any issues with warping. Typically, any car part that you replace takes a little elbow grease to get the fitment/bolt alignment right. If you want to ease somebody into DIY car repair, this would be the starter project to complete their first oil change.
It will also make future oil changes and DIY car work much easier…and clean if your car has 110,000 miles on it like mine did when I picked it up. After doing a few things under my car I realized that the most annoying part of every project was taking off and replacing the sagging, cheap, annoying (seriously!?), stock splash guard.
The oil filter hole isn’t aligned with the actual oil filter, but it didn’t align on the stock guard either. I’ll probably mark off the filter location during the next oil change and cut out the area so I don’t have to remove the entire shield in the future. It’s nice to know I have 5 minutes to complete a simple step instead of 15 minutes of cursing everything on the earth to get a stupid splash guard off…or on.

I ordered this engine splash shield because of the reviews in reliability of the item. I received the item in a timely manner which is good. It loks and feels sturdy and of good quality.
However, it was supposed to be shipped with the mounting hardware. As you can tell from the picture. I received the item without the mounting hardware, no install instructions or paperwork of any kind. There was a tag to call Dorman if there were any concerns or issues. So, I did. The CSR for Dorman told me to get back in touch with Amazon and return since the mounting hardware that was supposed to come with it did not. All that effort in reverse! No thank you. I will change my review to better rating if this gets resolved expeditiously.
