Garbage strings, within a few hours of playing the coating had warn off. Terrible squeaking sound when miked up. I am returning them because of the appalling quality..
Alberto Mayoral –
Although the strings sound ok I have had 2 high E strings snap on me while tuning. Now I have 2 sets of near new strings and no E string. Never had this happen before in 40 years of playing.

played one time and the coating was coming off by the sound hole after 20 minutes. not only does the coating come off easily if you play with any amount of aggression but i find the strings to feel abrasive under my fret hand. abrasive enough to slow my fretting movements down. the strings lack brilliance/clarity in tone. i rarely change my strings until one breaks but i will be changing these out way before i need to bc they make me not want to pick up that guitar.

Sound average, already dull, the black coating is peeling on 1st and 2nd string after playing 5 minutes, (the video is after 10 minutes strumming chords)
And the worst is the feel of the coating, it grips and makes loud squeaky noises when you slide your fingers between chords
Very disapointed, elixir nanoweb strings sond and feel way better even after one year of abuse.

I have DR Black Beauties on a couple of my electric basses, and I really like the feel and tone that I get from them. So when I was looking for strings for my new acoustic guitar, I decided to give them a try. So far, I am really liking them. They aren’t quite as “bright” as the stock strings (which I like), and they feel and look great on my Ibanez AW54CE-OPN.
Joshuwa Wilson –
Just all around a good string for the money. Was skeptical at first but ya I like them. Sound good on two of my guitars one acoustic electric and one is a standard cheap-O six string. Really good overall. Look good to depending on the look you are going for.
Nick C –
I love the look, and they sound pretty good too. Biggest knock is that the “black” is chipping off the high strings in a pretty short period of time.

I love DR strings; their RARE phospor bronze are the best-sounding acoustic string for the money. I saw these Black Beauties and thought “cool….they’re coated and supposed to last”. (SIDE NOTES: I had a big “DUH” moment when I realized they are ACTUALLY black.) They look pretty cool on my Taylor dreadnought. You can’t really see them except between the sound hole and the bridge. However, I was immediately disappointed in the sound.
They sound muddy and muted, like they have been on the guitar for a year. I put them on yesterday, proceeded to play for about 3 hours, and the coating started coming off the G-string! The same day! I have already ordered a set of RARE to replace them. Oh, well.

not the sound or fell I like, but they looked super different and magical! – Music addict
Paul L Oostdyk –
I’m a big fan of DR coated strings. They give a mellow phosphorus coated sound without any finger noise sliding between frets.
Easy on the fingers.
They’re very durable, although the pick does wear off the coating where I stum; it doesn’t change that mellow sound.

I was really surprised by these strings, they sound really excellent and I’ve not had any breakage. Originally I tried them because I thought the look would be nice with the tusque XL black nut and bridge. I’d just done a re-fret with EVO gold and the whole look was real nice
