I just purchased a Lakland 5 string. Bass players know that they have a 35″ scale as opposed to the more common 34″ of a typical Fender, or the like. I wanted to know which strings to buy for it, especially if I’m stringing it through the body. I didn’t get a lot of specific information from others when I asked. I was told “just get DRs, 45-125” and that was it. So, if anyone else is as confused as I was “these are the ones”. Lots of length for thru-body or thru-bridge.
Oh, by the way, the strings had a lot of “boing” to them so I can’t confirm the other user’s “dead strings” review. I’d say, before cutting, make sure you bend them first, then cut behind the bend. Works every time for me.

Product was great but USPS was late delivering and the package was beat pretty bad…might want to upgrade your shipper or shipping fees because this makes amazon prime look bad when the very first delivery arrives late with boot marks on the packaging 🙁

I have a Schecter Diamond Elite 5 that I can string through the bridge or body. I can use DR Long Scale to string through the bridge, but need the Extra Long Scale to string through the body, which I prefer. I also use Hi-Beams on my four string.

Regardless, these are high quality stainless steel strings with a round core, meaning they are not quite as harsh as far as brightness as other stainless steel strings. Moreover, they do not chew my fret wires or fingers like other stainless strings. From playing with a pick to finger style to slap and pop, these strings can do it all and usually last two or three months of heavy playing before they become to thuddy for my taste.

The gauges of the strings sound perfect, as close to the sound of playing across only one string as I have ever heard. The .125 low B is an extension from the low E without sounding boomy; therefore, the clearest and most articulate B string I have found.

Perhaps i recieved an inferior set, or my perspective is askew, but i bought these for my schecter as they are the elusive x-long strings. Out of the package, they sounded stupendous, like i was slappin a bunch of choir singers. However, that was roughly a month ago, and now i have noticed a significant drop in sound quality to the point where i feel i should warn others. The strings are not rusted, but they are all dead. If i played 3 hrs a day, i would expect this, but since i play roughly 4 hrs a week, i am disappointed.
If youre a professional, and can afford to replace the strings every week or so, then get these strings, if your like me and want your strings to last a while, look for something else.
    Pro: sound great
Con: died in a 3 weeks

The media could not be loaded.

Major quality problem: 125 string was tuned to low B, and the the coils just stretched apart just behind the nut. (not near the peg; no cuts or bends evident). I didn’t mount these until 60 days after purchase, so they’re beyond the return window. Note to the seller: working bass players buy strings ahead of time and keep them ready to change as their gigging schedule requires.

THESE ARE MY; GO TO STAINLESS ROUNDWOUND STRINGS FOR MY 4, 5 & 6 STRING BASS GUITARS. THEY PRIMARILY FIT WITH WINDING TO SPARE; MY 6 STRING DINGWALL & 5 STRING STAMBAUGH, BOTH ARE SLANTED-FRET, SUPER LONG SCALE 37″ B TO 34″ G & C STRING BASSES. I ALSO NEED XTRA LONG WINDINGS BECAUSE I OFTEN CONVERT MY OTHER GUITARS TO “STRINGS THRU BODY” OR BUY BASSES MADE THAT WAY FOR TIGHTER SNAPPIER TONE. THEY HAVE THUNDER BASS WITH “PIANO STRING” TONE AND SUSTAIN & RETAIN THEIR SMALLER STRING CLARITY LONGER & REALLY DON’T CHEW INTO MY FRETS, UNLIKE MOST OTHER BRANDS I’VE TRIED OVER 44 YEARS OF PLAYING. VERY FEW COMPANIES PROVIDE STRINGS THIS LONG, WISH THEY DID, BUT THESE EXIST & FEEL SMOOTH TO THE TOUCH. I ALWAYS BUY SEVERAL PACKS AT A TIME—-I WILL SURELY — GO BONKERS — IF THESE DISAPPEAR !! HAL J
