Great pedal, takes a little bit to get used to but I love it now. I like how it has adjustments and a manual explaining everything. Carry case is good to have as well. Pedal breaks down super easy.
Took me a few tries to find the sweet spot on my Cajon but now it sounds like thunder once I raised the foam beater a bit. Overall I like the pedal, cable hasn’t broke or shown any signs of wear and I play for at least an hour every day. Had it over a month. I was paranoid about the cable breaking so I put some lube on the cable where it slides thru the threaded tubes.
Would def recommend it, very well built. Another a great DW product.

Updating this review because the customer service and attention from DW has been nothing short of spectacular, and I also think different use cases may have better results than others.

The positive aspects of this pedal:
    – the beater tone is the best I have heard from any other cajon pedal on the market. I pair this with a Sela satin nut cajon and the bass tone is deep and rich. When mic’d I can easily make this sound on par with a kick drum
    – the responsiveness is decent though I believe degrades with cable stretch over time, I wish this was adjustable.
    – the customer service from DW is incredible and they had replacement parts in the mail almost immediately.

    The negatives:
    – I use this on acoustic jazz style music (so always a pretty light touch) and my cable snapped after 30 days in the middle of a gig. I may have root caused this to the way the pedal gets stored in the pedal bag causing a pretty extreme bend, eventually leading to a cable failure. DW indicated I was the only one who had this issue so far, so maybe I am the first one so far setting it up and tearing it down 3+ times a week and putting it in the pedal bag. I don’t think I will use the pedal bag anymore that’s for sure. If you read the reviews of competing pedals though cable snap plagues all of them, maybe this is just inevitable. I wish DW had a direct drive 9000 version, but the demand for that is probably too low to justify it from their perspective. Or a ‘cajon conversion kit’ for their normal double pedals, that would be awesome.
    – The cable replacement is not designed to be done in-field quickly, and it’s not the kind of thing where having spares on hand would be a quick repair.
    – While the tone of the beater is spectacular, my beater was already tearing within a month. This appears to be because of the metal nut cutting through the foam. It’s also compressing significantly, making that metal nut even more dangerous for your tapa.
    – The pedal base lacks floor spikes and the bottom is ‘anti skid’ rubber, my experience is it slides around everywhere under your foot whether it was a gig rug, hardwood or tile.
    – The beater base has nothing securing it to the cajon so it’s constantly sliding away from the drum. When the beater base slides even a couple inches away from the drum, the throw of the beater lengthens and ends up exposing the metal washer and nut to the tapa, and that will tear up your tapa

I solved the pedal and beater slide issues with a quick trip to the hardware store and built a steel sled for them that holds everything in place. I think if I just leave the whole setup on the sled instead of setting up / tearing down for every gig the cable will last longer. Overall right now this pedal is probably a fine choice for a studio / recording focused player or just someone with a static setup that stays in the same place. For a gigging musician putting it through the paces night after night I question the durability. I’ll update the review though after I have more time on the replacement cable, I definitely want to like this pedal but it also seriously impacted a gig for me

Great bit of kit! Very responsive. Nice design. Hoping it last as these Cajon pedals can be a bit delicate. Looks great, super super compact! Like it a lot

I have only just received this item today and had a play around on it at home, I have still to take it out gigging, but will update when I do, the reason I wanted to review this so quickly is because I had too!

As you’d come to expect from DW this item is SUPERB build quality and although it seems that you need to dismantle the item down after use, this isn’t much of a problem however, due to the genius design and flawless build quality.

I was also pleasantly surprised to see that it comes with it’s own carry case (Very light weight, but hey it’s a bonus!) so this make transportation much handier than my older Cajon Pedal (Meinl Cajon Pedal) which took up so much space in my hardware bag and always felt so frail due to it being a “one piece” set up.

The pedal itself is so easy to put together (less than 2mins on first try) and once it’s on you only really have to adjust the tension on ONE point to adjust to your own playing needs, not 3-5 points like on other cajon pedals ( Yes I’m looking at you Meinl!)

All in all, if you are playing part time or full time as a cajon player, or if you’re a guitarist who sits on one and wants a great sturdy pedal to take around gigs, THIS is one I highly recommend.

As I said at the start, I have not yet gigged with this pedal, but if I have any major concerns I will update this review, however having gigged this last three years with a previous contending model, and having nothing but bother with it, I am 100% happy with this pedal so far!

Peace and Love and have a great day 🙂

I have really long legs for my body, and I like my pedals pretty far away. The only way this pedal works for me is if I sit at a slight angle, which doesn’t work if you want to play with proper cajon technique. Really great product otherwise. Anyone know if DW makes an extension cable?

Feels like a normal DW pedal, but not as fast due to it being cable driven. Initial set up was a little confusing, but just follow the instructions provided and you’ll figure it out. Should work well for what I need it for. Already wish the cable was a little bit longer. Only reason I did not give this 5 stars is that I need to use it live to develop a full opinion of the pedal.
