I’m very happy with this purchase, I couldn’t wait to set it up! It only took an hour to heat up for the first time and on the second day the lamp heated up in less than 30 minutes. I love having the remote for different color choices. I had a blue one growing up in the 90s!

I can’t believe this. It’s like the makers don’t even know how their own product works! Let’s see, this is what the instructions say.
“Adopt the latest LED LIGHT HEAT technology. No need for bulbs or to worry about replacing bulbs anymore… The lamp has built-in 7 color LED HEATING LIGHTS…”
Ok so, I ran this lava lamp… Oh, I’m sorry. I ran this LIQUID MOTION lamp, lol, for a good 8 hours for it’s first run. And it was great! It looks fantastic and it is so awesome to be able to change the colors. And with a remote at that! Well, after it had been on for 8 hours I USED THE REMOTE to turn the lamp off, and it turned off. Or so I thought… About four hours later I was doing something in the kitchen where I had set up the lamp, and I kept noticing some kind of movement out of the corner of my eye. It was the wax in the lamp! It was still melted and going up and down! Even though the lights were NOT on at all. So I cautiously tried to touch it and sure enough, it was still scalding hot. Which meant that the remote didn’t turn off the heat for the lamp, and also that I had actually ran it for 12 hours straight instead of 8 hours…
So the most important thing that they should tell you about this liquid motion lamp, that they don’t, is that:
⚠️ ONLY THE SWITCH ON THE WIRE THAT PLUGS INTO THE WALL CAN TURN THE HEAT FOR THE LAMP ON AND OFF ⚠️
Which is why I said that the makers don’t know how their own product works and why I put what the instructions said. Because that is total proof that the lights are NOT what heats up the lamp at all. But if the lights don’t cause the heat, then what does? Well, my guess would be that it has to do with when they say this:

– Ceramic-coated cement heating base;
– It contains a small amount of moisture;
– Short period of water evaporation occurs;
– Normal and safe physical phenomenon.
So, it has a ceramic-coated cement heating base huh? Whatever that is, lol. But anyway, once you KNOW that the remote control ONLY turns out the light, and that to turn off the heat you have to flip the switch on the cord, then this liquid motion lamp is just as awesome as everyone says it is. It’s a five star liquid motion lamp in my opinion too. Just, not with a mistake like that. I mean, that’s pretty bad. And I probably should have taken off at least two stars for it. But I just couldn’t bring myself to do that because I still really like this lava… I mean, liquid motion lamp, lol. And so, I give Elomavapa’s 17 Colors Changing Liquid Motion Lamp with Remote a score of 4… out of, 5.

This is a mid-sized lava lamp, being slightly smaller than the ones I acquired in the 90s and early 2000s, but not being what I would call pocket-sized. Here in the warm temperatures of Florida, it really didn’t take long to get heated up and to start flowing hypnotically upon its very first use. I just plugged it into the wall, turned it on using the satisfying-feeling switch found along its cord, and within an hour, it was already flowing quite nicely. Though I ordered this in the color “White,” which is comprised of a silvery gray base, I’m not sure how it’s different than any of the other available colors, since they all seem to include the same remote that lights up the lava inside differently as you toggle thru its color options. I guess maybe the lava itself might be different depending on which color selection you choose, but it’s hard to know for sure based on the available product images. Mine does have white lava inside that’s only apparent when this is powered off, in case that offers any clarification. Additionally, there’s nothing even remotely glitter about this as the product title suggests, which I greatly appreciate as someone who detests glitter. Anyway, this unit gets nice and hot to the touch like any lava lamp, so if you have kids around that are new to the concept, it’s smart to go ahead and teach them that lava lamps are very hot and shouldn’t be touched except by an adult when they’re operating. There’s even a classic sticker on the front of the base warning that it’s hot (it’s a bit unsightly, so I’ll be removing that).
The included remote is pretty nifty and not something I’ve ever gotten to use with a lava lamp before. It’s powered with 2 AAA batteries that are NOT included. There are a whole bunch of stationary color selections to choose from, all of which are gorgeous in their own way. You can also brighten or dim this lamp using the remote as well as being able to turn it on and off. If you want the lamp to continuously cycle thru various colors, there are 4 options that do that. The “FLASH” button switches the color every half second. “STROBE” is a bit slower for some reason, switching colors about every full second. “FADE” fades from one color to the next rather than switching abruptly, but the tempo is pretty quick, remaining on each color for about half a second. Finally, “SMOOTH” is the slowed-down version of “FADE” and my personal favorite, fading between colors a bit more gradually at a pace that complements the relaxed flow of the lava.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with this specific lava lamp and its cool features, and I definitely recommend it!

My 11 year old was asking for a lava lamp so I got him this one. It’s funny how things revolve as my mom had one in the 60s and 70s, then I wanted one in the 90s and now my son wanted one. This was much lighter compared to the old school versions. The base is a lighter plastic material but sturdy enough to hold the glass lamp. The inner warming bulb is built in so no need to change a burnt out bulb. It’s pretty neat that the remote can change the color. Very happy with this lava lamp and my child was ecstatic.

Pretty nice lava lamp, the lava inside is all a translucent white so the LED really controls the color of the lava. Takes a couple hours for the stuff to heat up enough to start rising and falling. The top isn’t really on all that well, would’ve been nice if this was stuck on with some sort of adhesive or a screw top. Definitely not something you want to have in reach of young kids though as the base does get hot.
