I had a tank previously housing a baby snake that I turned into a small bioactive terrarium for some young dart frogs. I needed to find this hook but this particular size seemed hard to find on all the normal pet supply sites. Glad I found it here, it works great. I used a combo of bulbs for light and also plant growth. I think two of them might even fit over the whole top if one wanted to do that. I just sometimes move it to the front so the plants in the front of the tank benefit from the light as well.

It is a good design but the products they use are crap the light fixtures milk with a 50 watt light note to the point it don’t allow the lights to work properly one of the lights is positioned over a plastic piece along the screen which makes no sense considering these lights put off heat you should know it would melt the plastic why did you position it over a plastic support beam now I’m out fifty bucks for a really expensive light fixture that don’t work

These are perfectly sized and very well designed. The light they provide is sufficient. I will note- be sure to use the exact bulbs that they specify. We put a bulb in it from our old fixture (why waste it, right?), and within 10 minutes, we smelled melting plastic. Their bulbs are designed to put out little to no heat, and the plastic of the fixture will not stand up to a bulb that heats up.

This canopy makes a great, inexpensive light source for a planted aquarium. The medium version of this canopy accommodates 3 compact fluorescent light bulbs up to 26W each. This is the light output equivalent of 300 W incandescent. If you purchase these bulbs at a light temp of 6500 Kelvin (like these, which I have and work well: […], you will have an excellent light source for planted aquariums for a very reasonable price. I have two of these and have had one for over a year–I have a very healthy, densely planted 56 gallon aquarium thriving with this light source–even with a 24 inch deep water column.
Note that the medium version of this canopy has two light switches, one for the middle socket and the second for the two outside sockets. Also note that in order to use this with an aquarium, you must have a full coverage glass canopy between it and the water–this fixture is NOT suitable for exposure to moisture.

It’s cheap Chinese plastic, so once again there’s that. Looks good regardless. Sits on top of my 18x18x12 Exo Terra Terrarium like it was designed to. Plastic is loose and altogether flimsy but considering it will sit on top and not get moved except for cleaning it should be good to go.

Got the small to go over my exo terra 18x8x18. It fits perfectly, and looks very sharp. Fits a CFL uvb bulb and a small heat bulb. Perfect for my Madagascar Day Geckos. It has one switch to control both lights, so you can’t put a day bulb in one side and a night bulb in the other – but that’s fine by me. It feels very sturdy, and like it will last with it’s good looks for years to come.

Nice fixture. kind of pulls the whole “Exo Terra” look together. Works as expected. The only issues I have with these are that A) I was going to use 2 of the13W Exo Terra CFL bulbs which I already had on hand, until I could get the 2 26W CFL bulbs I ordered. Oddly enough, they were actually to short and the ceramic base wouldn’t allow them to screw in deep enough to make contact. I had to use a couple of regular 26W CFLs till my Exo Terra 200’s came in. B) It would really be great if they made this with 2 switches ( one for each bulb) as opposed to just 1. I’d recommend and buy again.

I shopped around a lot before settling on this light fixture. Previously I had not needed one because my enclosure was all glass, but my new one is wood and doesn’t allow much light in from the room around it. Since I am using it for a gecko, there was no need to control the two bulbs seperately (as there could be with other animals), so this is perfect. It only takes up one socket, and it works great on my timer. I used a regular home-use LED bulb on one side and a ReptiSun 2.0 on the other for enrichment. They light up my new enclosure great.
