My Brazilian Rainbow Boa loves this. When she was little, she especially loved tunneling down into it. I recommend a good 3or 4 inches of depth at least or more if tunneling. It really holds moisture and helps to keep the humidity high enough for her. It’s easily transferable, so be mindful when taking things out of the tank, as it will get on you and the floor. But it’s great value as you can scoop out waste and it stay pretty clean. If it gets too dry you can always revive it with water. I mix some with Forest Floor for my Python and although he doesn’t need high humidity, he does need some & this works very well. I’ve tried other brands and gotten springtails each time. (Makes me itchy just remembering) so I’m not doing that again. This is clean and inexpensive and lasts and lasts. Very happy.

I bought this for a snail terrarium and watched lots of videos on online of people using this product and I think overall my experience was a lot different. All the videos I watched people just put it in water and it started to expand…and that’s exactly what the instructions say to do, just put the block in water and in 30 minutes it will expand. But my block did not expand within 30 minutes so I started to poke at it and then an hour passed and nothing. So I literally had to shred the block with scissors and continuously pour water directly onto it and here I am 2 hours in with just about 1/3 of the block turned into usable soil. The soil is just fine but the instructions made it seem so simple… so just something to note, plan for more than 30 minutes

I’m really happy with this. This is the first time using any type of soil for my leopard gecko and I sure am happy. The brick was more than enough for my gecko’s tank which is a foot in width and 4 feet in length. If I have used the other half of the brick, it would have filled the tank at least to an inch or two of dirt. So far I have not seen any mold and I constantly keep the dirt wet. My gecko wasn’t too happy about the smell at first but he got used to it very quickly and this is the first time I have actually seen him get a good night sleep. He used to have paper towels instead and would always be up. I’m glad I bought this. Plus it makes my tank look great!

It grows with water and I was suprised to see how much I got from a single brick. My roaches like it 🙂

Clearly, quality control was lacking in my batch. I bought 6 blocks because they were cheaper than the alternative by quite a bit. Well, you get what you pay for. I was soaking 2 bricks and breaking them up when I came across a screw. I expect small stones and wood pieces (of which there were also a few) but not a screw. Hopefully, the other brocks are ok, but this is unacceptable.

    Update: 4/7/21
Breaking up another brick and this time found a good-sized bolt, that is jagged on the end. Looks like it was snapped off. This is unacceptable. I also don’t know what’s in the 4th brick since it won’t take any water and is basically useless.
