I was given a Fluval tank with this filter but the light didn’t work. I bought this as the replacement and I’ve had it a few months with no problem. Now every once in a while I have to jiggle the switch to get the light to come on. I’ll get a different tank instead of replacing this filter/ light again.
As far as appearances and function, the tank is awesome. It’s the perfect size and flow rate for a betta. Mine loves it!

Easy to install and easy to clean. I’ve swapped out the fake plant to put on top with a spider plant and love how it falls into the tank for extra oxygen for the fish

I purchased this product to replace the identical existing one I had. The light had gone on it and it was no longer pumping as well. This one arrived and we were excited to get our tank working again with a light for the fish. Within two weeks the same thing has happened!! The light is no longer functioning reliably. I am very disappointed and frustrated with this product.

I like Fluval chi aquarium and the original filter/light cube that came with the unit lost its light function after a year or two purchase. The filter portion however continued to work for many years more. Thank you to the seller for providing a brand new unit that now brings light to the tank once again. Speedy shipping, brand new, and way less expensive than if I’d purchased directly from Fluval’s website!

Needed this for my tank. Had to wait for delivery around two weeks. When I unpacked it it an an American Plug on the transformer so will have to spend money buying an English one, plus the top part of the waterfall, the plastic dome was missing, so also looking for one of those to prevent water going all over the floor. Decided to return it as it’s not fit for purpose

This is the 3rd cube I’ve had since I bought the fish tank. When I initially bought the fish tank it literally lasted less than 6 months before the light started dying and eventually it did. After years of trying to find the replacement the first one shipped to me light did not work at all. I just got the current one on March 16th and its dead already. NOTE: I only have the light on during the day and turn it off every single night. I loved my fishtank but it ain’t worth having to spend the same amount of money on the cube every single time you have to replace it.

I bought this to replace the original that gave out. I works just as the old one did. Gravel and rocks do not fill it properly, but I use my own filter media instead.

Aside from the light function, my machine had worked for several years until it showed signs of dying. I am glad you can still find replacements.
I see the entire tank has gone up 20 dollars more, so I decided to just replace the fountain.
I know this set up has a lot of lemons and you will want to have a separate light for your tank as this one seems to die on most machines. The beautiful design and fountain is still unmatched. I am thrilled to be able to keep using my Chi Fluval aquarium.

I have had my Fluval tank for 11 years. Gone thru 3 other cube filters…no problem. Excellent design, just normal wear outs.
My issue is with the ‘nearly new’ cube that I bought. Amazon sends me a cube that had a broken off clear filter door, was dirty from a tank, and smelled of cigar smoke. It also was not a US model but a UK. See the power plug in the photo.
Luckily I put the cube in sun for an hour, expanding the black plastic cube so I could just fit the door back on. Was it and wiped the cord down to get smoke smell off. My old power brick still worked.
But this should never have gotten resold. Poor poor QC Amazon. False advertising IMHO.

I tried contacting the company about the 2-year warranty that came with the tank and got no response. I bought this replacement here on Amazon. It’s been working great. It came with a filter and carbon insert, all set up, which was a pleasant surprise. It’s quiet, good water flow, and is actually working better than the one that came with the tank. A little pricey in my mind.

I purchased this as a replacement for the original, which lasted 3 years before both the light & filter stopped working.
This replacement has only been used for 4 months and the light has already stopped working (and never shone very brightly to begin with), but the filter is still working well.
Fits the original tank perfectly.

Cool looking but I would stay away from this product. Bought the fluval chi 5 gallon cube aquarium and the filter light switch stopped working first day. Bought this replacement filter and the light switched went out in a week. Reading up on it I guess it was a badly designed light switch. Ended up getting rid of this setup and just got a sponge filter and a fluval nano plant light
