Being a big fan of the majestic series, I could not be happier when my package arrived. I just love it! The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that this is NOT the extended version ( and there is no way to know from the product description). So if you are die-hard fan of the series, expect some missing lines here and there.

Acquistato il cofanetto edizione Regno Unito, sono rimasto come sempre soddisfatto dalla consegna Amazon e dall’elegante prodotto con tutti gli oltre 200 episodi della serie. Vederlo in lingua originale è di un altro livello: alcune gag – come il “We were on a break” e “How are you doin?” – sono assolutamente intraducibili.
Venendo a recensire lo show, che dire? Chiunque sia nato negli anni 80 non può non conoscere “Friends” (personalmente sono classe 1986) e la serie si dimostra attuale anche 25 anni dopo la trasmissione del primo episodio pilota. Vi sono alcune scene che si possono riguardare per ore senza smettere mai di ridere. “Friends” rappresenta in definitiva – insieme a “Beverly Hills 90210” – la serie che ha segnato indelebilmente glii anni 90.
Kevin Bright e Marta Kauffman disegnano le vicende tragicomiche di un gruppo di amici nei loro “late 20s”, impegnati a farsi strada nella New York piena di opportunità di fine millennio. La crisi economica del 2008 è anni luce distante e vediamo che i personaggi – fra mille peripezie ed alterni successi – riescono in definitiva a costruirsi una vita, sebbene alcuni passaggi siano certamente semplicistici (Rachel sarebbe realmente arrivata a Ralph Lauren nella vita reale?).
Nel corso delle 10 stagioni vediamo i personaggi cresce ed evolvere, affermandosi nel lavoro, sposandosi ed avendo figli. L’umorismo è sempre ben dosato e mai eccessivo, mescolandosi sapientemente con momenti riflessivi e tristi. Il successo dello show è certamente determinato dalle sapienti doti creative degli autori e dalle eccellenti capacità degli attori: in poche serie TV si nota un così maniacale attenzione ai dettagli, ai gesti, alle espressioni ed ai dialoghi. David Schimmer in particolare è a mio avviso un attore straordinario: peccato sia paradossalmente rimasto – come gli altri 5 a parte Jennifer Aniston – imprigionato dal successo di “Friends” e la sua carriera non sia definitivamente decollata.
Visto a distanza di un decennio, il telefilm ci restituisce anche molte tendenze sociologiche americane: maternità surrogata e genitori omosessuali sono i primi che mi vengono in mente. Fattori che – come ben sappiamo – da questa parte dell’Atlantico si sono fatti molto più lentamente strada.
Guardarlo adesso significa un po’ anche sentirsi “vecchi”: quale millennial può comprendere l’utilità di telefonare da un cordless di casa? Oppure immaginare i vestiti e le acconciature di inizio anni 90 oggi così démodé? Così come è sconvolgente rivedere le interviste degli attori ora cinquantenni, con le rughe ed i chili di troppo.
In definitiva, cofanetto decisamente consigliato, da vedere e rivedere.

I looked everywhere for “friends’ dubbed in Spanish (it is many languages, actually). I need more exposure to the Spanish language and I know all of the “Friends: episodes practically by heart, so I thought that if I had that series in Spanish (and Spanish subtitles) that it would help. And it is helping. It was hard to find to find it dubbed, but alas, here it is.

Se trata del pack en inglés.
Tenía algunas temporadas de esta serie en DVD y cuando vi que este pack estaba en oferta por 50€ aproximadamente no me lo pensé. La calidad es muy superior a los DVD, aunque en las primeras temporadas se les nota mucho grano, lo cual es normal al haber hecho la conversión a Blu Ray. Todas las temporadas traen el audio en español, lo único que viene en inglés es el libreto que acompaña a la colección.
Son dos BluRay por cada temporada más uno con los extras (que aún no he visto). Viene en 3 cajas, dos grandes con la serie en sí y otra caja pequeña con los extras.
El formato es 16:9 , aunque tras comparar los episodios con los que tenía en DVD se nota que en las primeras temporadas recortaron un poco de arriba y abajo para adaptarse, aunque nada que sea apreciable. Lo que sí mejora enormemente es la calidad de la imagen.

My Blu-ray discs arrived quickly and in perfect condition. My daughter and I have already watched SEVERAL seasons without any issues. The episodes are the saem ones I used to watch on TV back in the 90s. They can take them off Netflix now. I have my own copy!! Ha!

Keep in mind these are blu ray and will not work in your old DVD player or your computers CD drive, however the quality is amazing, all the episodes are here, some with extended versions, and I can’t get enough of these fabulous extra special features. The gag reels leave me breathless from laughing. It also comes with a little booklet that will help you find a specific episode if that’s something you’d do, and there’s even some fun facts in there. Any and all friends fans deserve a box set of this caliber.
