Some months back, I purchased two really nice dog beds for my two big dogs (each 85-100lbs). One was rectangular with a bolster…positioned so our pit pup could no longer cram his ball underneath the entertainment center and bark for us to dig it out. The other was the Furhaven round bed that is the subject of this review…selected because our pit pup *must* have a blanket or covering when he curls up. (Giant baby…) Turns out BOTH our dogs love the Furhaven round bed. They don’t fight over it per se, but each will sort of stand over the dog laying down and stare intently in the hopes they’ll get up and move. They can’t both fit, really, but sometimes one tries to squeeze in next to the other. Pretty comical, but it’s clear they love the bed so much, I needed to get a second one! The bed really is great – thick and well padded, you’d never know there was hardwood floor underneath. The sherpa fabric on the laying surface is soft. Our hound likes to lay right on top, but our pit burrows underneath the ‘tent’ cover until only his nose peeks out and is blissfully happy.

The bed is very soft. My dog likes the bed, but he just keeps trying to mess with the canopy. But because he likes to cuddle under blankets, and the canopy is a little weird that it sticks up.

This bed is shown with a Boxer on it. My dog is a small female boxer and does not fit. I wish I would have gotten a larger size. Also the flap does not have any way to stay up, tent-like, as shown. There are no poles included. There’s no way my dog could go inside even if there were – the opening is quite small. The bed itself is cushy and the fabric seems durable.

Our dashhound loves going under the covers. We took the hoop out because our puppy didn’t like it so opened. Not he is toasty warm. Happy dashhound, happy owner.

This arrived in a vacuum packed package and I had to put it together myself. It’s just a piece of thick egg crate foam that you slip into the case like a pillow, then zip up. That was mildly difficult because it should fit tightly, but I found folding it in half, sticking it in there, then letting it unfold inside the case worked well. The foam itself seems of decent quality, kind of like memory foam, but it doesn’t hold the shape of your hand or anything. Once you get the foam inside, getting the plastic tube thing that holds up the front inside the little pocket that holds it isn’t too difficult. You do have to start at the correct end tho, so if one end doesn’t seem to be working, try the other side. Once assembled it looks just like the picture. My dog was mostly thrilled and liked diving inside at first, but I think maybe it gave him a static shock because I noticed when I stuck my arm in there it did that to me, and he hasn’t been inside it since I first put it together. He still enjoys sitting on top of it tho, even tho the one side sticks up and looks funny when he sits on it like that. Maybe if I wash it with a lot of Downy that will fix the problem.

The product is great, the hole was sewn up for the plastic piece so I used a seam ripper to open it back up. My dog kept sitting on it, so I got in it to show him how to do it and now he is loving it. I did not get a pic of me inside, but I will post some of his journey to discovery of the Fur Haven.

It fits my 36kg GSP pretty snug, I just have to convince her to use it. Also , it is pretty thin so I need to use another blanket to keep her warm. Pretty dear for what it is. We shall see how long it lasts. Thank you.

I feel mixed on this item. It’s a giant piece of foam which can vary based on what foam you decide to go with. I picked memory foam, so there is one section of memory foam and a thicker/larger section of normal foam. This makes it quite firm and light. Apparently my dogs have no interest in sleeping in it or on it for very long because foam is a bit stiffer than a plush dog bed. If your dog likes foam beds, it might like this. If your dog doesn’t like firm surfaces, don’t bother. As for the piping to keep the hood part up, it’s not really worth keeping that as it comes bent and wonky. My dachshund can get into it rather easily, however won’t stay in it. She’s a digger, and I bought the sherpa covering thinking it looked a bit nicer. It’s a cheap sherpa, like as cheap as possible, so a couple of digs from her claws and the fluff started to come up. This is definitely a ‘budget bed’ and not very high for quality. I did wash the covering first because the smell was bad, removing it wasn’t too hard but trying to put it back on was a bit of a challenge. Over all, I think this isn’t worth getting.

We had a Canopy bed for the dogs before which was perfect. This dog bed is “dangerous”. The little roof does not stay up and collapses on the dog, which one dog is scared, and the other one was in the back and got caught in the flimsy material and tangled up. I would worry that an unsupervised dog might not be able to get out, and possibly suffocate. I am sending this bed back and do not recommend it at all for safety reasons.
