I picked these up to make a bunch of 6x12in “handy travel stuff” canvas pouches for myself & friends. I always end up accidentally forgetting about my multitool or pocketknife or scissors when I go through airport security, or I forget to bring or end up losing pens or a scarf or my notebook, or I end up having to use a shoelace for a makeshift clothesline when paracord would have been just the thing, or I space out bringing a lighter or a flashlight — you know, all that stuff that you bring and lose on the trip, or stuff you forget to bring but would have ended up coming in super-handy at one point or the other, or stuff that inconsistent airport security screening will let pass in one country but clamp down on in another for some unknown reason. If I’m not traveling around on vacation or business, it’d be handy stuff to just have in the car. So it turns out that I wanted some kind of inexpensive but reliable multi-tools to put in these pouches and I spent a day looking through the options. I’d recently had a Gerber multitool confiscated by airport security in Edinburgh, so I figured that I’d check out all the other brands for a replacement, including the AliExpress chinesium ones, but when I went through the list of tools and looked at the quality of steel and construction, I kept coming back to Gerber. The value proposition of this multi-tool is really good. You get enough tools to fit most common requirements, decent steel and a reasonable (pretty cheap, all considered) price. I bought four of them. They don’t need to be especially rugged, though they are substantial, and they won’t likely get more than a week’s use if they do become necessary. It was just the thing for my little pouches and if one should get lost it won’t break the bank to replace.

I needed to update my Leatherman multi-tool after 20 years. The issue was there was no locking mechanism for any of the tools on my vintage Leatherman. It cut and pinchedme too many times. So I tried the Gerber Suspension NXT.
Gerber hit a home run! This tool is the perfect size, perfect heft, perfect set of features for everyday use. Of course, like a good pair of boots, its stiff and tight coming out of the box. After a wear-in period, it feels trustworthy. I have found a worthy replacement for the Leatherman at half the price.
The tools: the knife is sharp and holds its edge. The awl is almost as sharp as the knife (careful!). The phillips screwdriver is somewhat small (#1 size). The needle nose plyers are strong and fit in tight spaces. I dont have much use for the small scissors, but they can cut short lengths. I wish they had made course and fine files instead of a useless 1-1/2 inch scale, but thats a minor point.
Overall, this is a great multi-tool with everything you need and nothing you dont. Highly recommended!

I cary it daily, mostly use the knife. Very sharp, good to have the other tools handy.

I have other multi tools and Swiss army knives, but I’m pretty sure this will be my favorite. Mostly I wanted the pliers and they are nice size and grip well. The wire cutter works well too. The knife is kinda small , but pretty sharp. The scissors are sharp as well and cut though paper easily. It’s always nice to have screw drivers around. I think one of the things I like the most is that the tools locks into place. No more frustration of having the tool you need move while you are trying to use it. The clip is nice and I wore it on my belt at work. Hardly noticed it was there. The clip is long too so you don’t have to worry about it coming loose. Sturdy feel and not to heavy. I bet at some point I’ll even use the 1 and a half inch ruler on something small.
