Ho provato diverse corde “Silk” sulla mia chitarra Seagull e non potevano quindi mancare queste GHS. Confrontandole con le Ernie Ball, montate abitualmente, le GHS hanno un suono simile, meno proiettato ma ben bilanciato. A mio parere sono ottime corde ad un costo competitivo. Peraltro ogni corda é protetta da una confezione di plastica chiusa ermeticamente.

I purchased a Yamaha LS-TA Acoustic a little over a year ago. A beautiful guitar with lovely tone-wood, tons of volume, and super projection. 80/20 strings sounded very loud, a little harsh, and too brassy/metallic. Mids and highs sounded too pronounced with Elixir/coated strings. I tried some hybrids types, but just didn’t like the sound. Not “musical” enough or just plain dead sounding right out of the package. A technician at a local stringed instrument shop that sells Yamaha guitars suggested GHS Silk and Bronze. I gave them a try and was very pleased with the result.
These stings bring out the piano-like tone I knew was possible with the LS-TA. They are not too loud, and have a decent bottom/bass sound. Mids are rich and mellow. Highs are not too crisp, but still come through in the blend. After about 6 months with these strings, I tried a couple other types as a comparison, including Silk and Steel. I immediately went back to the Silk and Bronze. I have been using the light (.11) set. I suspect a .12 set would give me a little more robust bass, but I prefer the lighter gauge because the LS-TA really projects, and heavier gauge strings are just too loud. So far in my search for the ideal string for my acoustic, the GHS Silk and Bronze comes the closest to what I’m looking for. I recommend the strings to anyone looking for a mellow, well-balance, rich sounding string, that isn’t too “brassy”
Note: I recently tried a set of John Pearse light gauge (11) Phosphor Bronze and Silk Wound strings as a comparison. These were the only other Silk and Bronze acoustic strings I have been able to find. They sound nice (better than 80/20 or Silk and Steel), but are not as mellow or “musical” on my LS-TA as the GHS Silk and Bronze.

Envoi rapide, emballage soigné et cordes qui répondent très bien à mes attentes, un peu plus souples sur le manche que les Martin silk & steel. Joli spectre sonore, ça reste dans les sons Dark (folk avec table en cèdre).

If you find the sound of other “silk and steel” set that comes with silver-ish colored wound strings (e.g. Martin silk and steel) too dark/dull, or if you don’t like the feel of those, this might be your set.
I tried this on my parlor sized guitar, I’m satisfied with the result, and it will stay on for a while.
It is mellower than steel-core phosphor bronze, yes, but still keeps some brightness and chime of phosphor bronze, just without harshness.
Also important for me is the feel. I often use flesh of my fingertips to hit the strings. This set feels like a normal phosphor bronze set to my fingertips, just the tension is lower, which is a plus to me.
Maybe it’s only me, but silver-ish thing, whatever they are, feels somewhat strange and makes some unpleasant squeaky rubbing sound when I hit the string.
I’m also interested in Ernie Ball Bronze Silk and Steel, which seems to be similar to this ghs set.

Very disappointed – I’ve ordered silk and steel GHD for other guitars recently, and thought I’d try 11’s Silk and Bronze this time – the first and second string are terrible – large patches of apparent rust on both strings, where it seems the coating has eroded away. Box and packets are undamaged, and the bronze strings seem okay. It’s put me off the brand unfortunately and too much hassle to return given that by the time i opened 1st / second strings from their envelopes, I’d already put the other 4 on the guitar!
