gretcsh appears to be going the way of gibson in that you either have to be fortunate enough to afford the usa made
model that will likely cost well over 2k or you can try out of one of these cheap made in china models that are hardly playable. there is no in between. this thing was junk and couldn’t stay in tune for more than 15 seconds. the “licensed” bigsby was absolute junk and i was extremely disappointed by the pickups. also the strap
button placement guarantees it will nose dive if you ever try to play it standing up

To start, this thing has big sound with a punchy output. The pickups sound good and run the gamut from rich and bassy to chimey to articulate driven sounds. At this price, though, I would expect few to no finish issues. The fret ends are sharp, there is paint over spray on the bindings and in one or two places uneven binding. The minor annoyance of over spray excluded the very least gretsch could do is ensure even bindings and smooth fret ends. Also, and I should have expected this, EMI is very noticeable in this guitar. I decided to keep it because I don’t see myself finding a semi-hollow with signature p90 pickups for less, and I do like the tone and the overall feel of the neck (after I dressed the fret ends). If you are looking to buy this model I highly recommend getting a skilled luthier to give it a once over, I imagine individual grounds will be needed for pickups and at least an action adjustment. I lowered the tune-o-matic bridge by almost 5mm and still had no issue with string buzz. Take it as you will. Out of the box this thing will require some tlc.
