Works stable and the metal adapter is better than other product.
Suggest Genki Studio app, it’s free and more function than Orion.
It use a lot of iPad battery power, so you can charge your iPad while using it by :
1. Magic keyboard, it use iPad back pin to charge so you still have type C port, but it’s expensive.
2. Use Type-C usb Hub with buid-in Power Delivery function. It is often used by Macbook, but you can use it on iPad too. Just connect the hub to iPad, type-C power cord to hub so it charge the iPad, and capture card connect to the hub through USB 3 type-C or type-A port ( there is a type C to Type A adapter ). The hub is better USB 3 Gen 2 for 10GB speed ( I test Gen 1 for 5GB also works but less stable ). Thunderbolt hub should be better but expensive and I have not test.

I never thought I’d be able to have something like this. I’ve been using this with my iPad and it works amazing! The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is due to the fact that there is a bit of a lag sometimes which I imagine is fixed with the more expensive version, but overall this gets the job done!

The Guermok USB HDMI capture card mainly stays on my desk and gets used when I need to go on camera for video calls.
My main point of comparison was a $10 USB converter that I got from AliExpress. Because of my photo hobby, I happen to have an MFT camera and an f/1.4 lens that I barely use otherwise. People I was meeting online would notice the good picture quality.
To my eye, the Guermok is better than the $10 card. I think there’s more color depth, or it could be higher resolution processing in the card — I don’t have the knowledge to say exactly what’s the difference. Additionally, the cable connection to the USB is much less likely to lose contact than the inflexible integrated USB connector on the $10 card. (That inflexibility sometimes caused Zoom to lose the USB input and switch to the computer’s built-in webcam).
I also borrowed an expensive Magewell HDMI/USB converter to try with my camera/lens combo. I could see there was a difference with Magewell vs. the Guermok card, but didn’t have an immediate preference for one vs. the other. (Also, the Magewell seemed less well behaved on the USB hub I was using, sometimes causing short pauses in the Ethernet NIC in the USB hub).
Bottom line: I am impressed by the Guermok converter’s performance at its price.

Got this in order to record some TV shows. Hooked up easily and it actually worked!!! I tried screen capture program, running tv service through Xbox and couldn’t get it work at all. Saw this device and for the price o took a chance and instantly my program came up in OBS and I was able to record! Awesome!!! Good quality, very happy with the product and no issues so far. I’ve done about 20hrs of recordings! 👍🏾

I got this so I could use my laptop as a monitor for my gaming consoles and it works great, no latency issues or anything. The instructions are a little vague on how to make this work so here’s what I did:
Downloaded OBS Studio (totally free and open source software)
Set up a new video capture source using the “USB 3.0” device.
Once that was done, my console input was showing as a preview, no need to start recording. To get the screen to fullscreen, just right click the video and select Fullscreen Project (Preview) and select your display.
All in all super easy setup and great for turning an output only device into an input device. I unfortunately can’t speak to it’s capture ability, but that functionality alone seems worth the cost.
