At first when I unpacked everything, it was a little overwhelming and the directions could’ve been better, but there’s a QR code to a video that was a lot more helpful. Once I got an idea of what went where, it was super easy to put together, I honestly thought it was going to be a huge pain, especially since I didn’t have a rubber mallet or a hammer, but I didn’t even need one, it was easy enough to just pound everything together with my hand. And then I realized halfway through that you could do a combination of the basket style shelves and flat shelves, so I had to disassemble some of it and reassemble so that some of the shelves were basket style, and it was relatively easy to do so. Some of the reviews I read said it was difficult to get everything to connect and it’s impossible to assemble without 2 people, but I did it by myself in about an hour, even with disassembling and reassembling, and I’m really happy with the results. It’s absolutely perfect for my kitchen and I’m going to buy another for my bathroom.

HIGHLY recommend. Rarely give 5 stars. This unit was super easy to assemble and very sturdy. I put together a different unit a month ago and I was dreading putting this one together. It took me less than 30 minutes. VERY easy. Pieces fit together perfectly. Not super heavy to move once assembled. I will definitely purchase again!

It was either get a carpenter to build shelves in my office closet or buy the shelves ready-made. I bought these shelves that fit perfectly in my closet. The height does not hit the existing shelf. The best part is it is white that matches with my closet and can hold very heavy books and stuff. It is so perfect for my closet that I bought a second one. Now I have everything on these shelves and my room is clutter free.

This unit is rickety and shaky when you first put it together because that’s how these shelving units are designed. However, once the shelf supports are in place (i.e. where you want them) go ahead and use a mallet or hammer to really seat the shelf supports into the legs. Because of how the “fins” are punched out, there’s another 1/8″ of travel for them to go, but hand pressure won’t do, you’ll need to use a hammer or mallet. Tap down firmly at each connection. Once you do this, the whole thing becomes MUCH more rigid and strong. It helps if you have 4 hands, too. BTW, the shelves are 3/8″ thick, which is rather thin. However, they’re dead flat; time will tell if they warp. The shelves are completely covered in melamine, which is good, with one side faux wood grain, and the other basic white, so you can set it up however you like. This is a pretty good and very functional piece of furniture.

They’re shelves, how bad could they be, right? The answer of course is “very very bad.” But these shelves are very much not. I put these kind of shelves into two categories: so good that they’re impossible to put together (and cost a fortune,) and so bad they won’t stay together (yet somehow still cost a fortune.) Homedant has managed to find a pretty good balance between the two with these.
The packaging was genuinely well thought out, and they arrived undamaged – something that doesn’t happen often with shelves like these. Either because they weigh 200lbs or they use paper instead of cardboard. But these are the smallest shelves, so your mileage may vary. They did think to put thick corrugated cardboard between parts that might be scratched or broken.
They come with instructions. You really won’t need them. As soon as you get the parts out, everything makes obvious sense. Peel off the plastic bits and stick them on sharp edges. Bang uprights and horizontals with a large rubber mallet until they’re seated. Drop laminate shelf in. It definitely is awkward to do solo, but not impossible. You can mix and match flat, lip, and slant as you please without any part of it requiring a PhD in mechanical engineering. Spacing of the mounts is also great because it gives a lot of flexibility in configuration.
Obviously the big question is: how do they look and how sturdy are they? The black finish and laminate on the shelves arrived with no scratches and was very consistent. That’s really all you care about there. As far as sturdiness? Once assembled they definitely don’t want to come apart easily, but it wants to sway when you’re moving it or you push hard on it. And the shelf boards on mine were probably a quarter inch short on two sides so they want to move around. But once I installed the shelf boards and added some weight, it did feel much more stable. They claim 264lbs per shelf, and the framing definitely feels up to the task, but the boards very much do not and definitely want to move around in the frame. That’s my biggest complaint.
Still, I feel like it’s a good quality shelf for what I paid and what I use it for. The engineering on these is quite good, so I don’t have concerns about the frame. But if you’re loading it up more, I would probably suggest using the included wall anchors or possibly stronger boards.
