Many vehicles manufacturers recommend using their own branded fluids and replacement parts. It is your vehicle investment, so use what you feel like using. Some people often assume that oem fluids are more expensive. The Honda fluids that I have used are on par price-wise and quality with big named aftermarket fluids. Everyone has an opinion on brand, price, and quality. Yes, its easy to stop by your local auto parts store and pickup your fluids and accessories. I am too busy most of the time with work and projects, so I prefer to get them delivered to my home at an affordable price. You do you.

I first bought this coolant in September 2020 (for $28) and filled the engine until the coolant level was between the fill lines and had no engine problems whatsoever! The bottle arrived in perfect condition and it and the coolant were easy to handle with no spillage, though granted I used a giant plastic funnel to mitigate this. I still have the bottle today although now I have switched to buying car supplies in person or online from other sources whenever possible, but this coolant should do if needed in a hurry! For being a handy tool that did its job well, this “Honda Genuine COOLANT (Type-2) (OL999-9011)” bottle gets a respectable 4/5 stars!

Used on my 98 civic (Always use spec required items) as a replacement for prior owners selected coolant. Ran perfectly fine, kept a consistent temp level (with access to live data info.) and ran noticeably smoother. Unfortunately for me, I was already expecting a head gasket failure sometime soon, just didn’t anticipate as soon as it actually occurred, so I had to go for an immediate alternative. Thjs product actually helped avoid any and all possible warping and cracks to the block at the moment of said blown head gasket. Worked like a trooper in keeping everything as cool and functional as possible and that’s not something that could be stated about other products…at least from my experiences.
Anyhow, this product saved the hassle of self mixing water and coolant from the concentrated type coolant. PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ACTUALLY BUY as there being multiple choices in purchased products. 1 gallon was in fact enough for my self-modded D16Y8. If uncertain on qty needed, 1 gallon should be enough, if not close to enough for most 4 cylinder Hondas. Easy to use. Satisfies required specs, legit “genuine honda” product, works as expected if not better, and my favorite part of a somewhat satisfying BLUE colored coolant.
