Yellow Rose –
I really wanted to love this little terrarium, and I otherwise would, but the o-rings that hold it together are not durable at all. During assembly, FIVE snapped as I was putting them on. Luckily, I had a few replacements from a different terrarium kit. This morning as I look at it again, 2 more have broken and it was just sitting on a shelf, untouched. I haven’t put my gecko in yet, as I glued a cave to the wall and was waiting for the glue to cure. With that being said, it is now non-returnable. I can still use it for my desired purpose, but I will have to be super cautious that it doesn’t come apart, and will continue to hope that no more rings break.
Update:
Got my little terrarium all set up for my crestie. Added some plants, some pebbles, a food dish. Poured in a tiny bit of water, not even to fully cover the pebbles, but just enough so little lizard could get a drink. I set it on the counter and came back a little later to a completely dry terrarium, sitting in a puddle of water. Now I will have to get all of the accessories out, disassemble it, find the leak, PATCH said leak, and try to purchase more o-rings since I am certain more will snap with all of the commotion. I spent way too much money for this to go in the trash, and with my modifications it is no longer returnable. What a headache.

I love the size, and I love the fact that it comes with a “substrate tray”. Unfortunately I did not have an arboreal tarantula and it was awkward on its side because of the opening lid. PERFECT for pink toes or like a mantis .. ladybugs. What have you. Quality is sturdy! Super easy to clean! The appearance is great, it is a little hard to take the plastic off BOTH sides of the pieces of acrylic but a toothpick did just well to lift the corners; and you peel it right off! Performance is great does what it needs to do. I advise no BABY jumping spiders, they can crawl through the holes of the enclosure.

I can’t think of a single reptile species that would be appropriate for this enclosure. It’s very small. I could see using it for transport / feeding box (for juveniles that are having issues hunting in their large main enclosure) but it’s also not very solid. Like you can easily pop one of the little rubber bands off if you were trying to travel with it and the locking mechanism isn’t super strong.
This would be good for some inverts, like isopods, except that it is only leak proof vertically. It comes only with the vertical footprint tray. I’m not an expert but things like younger spiders, isos, etc need to have horizontal floor space and not vertical. So the main use I could even see for this enclosure is out without some DIY.
The build: classic silicone ring on acrylic design. They give you NO extra rings. C’mon everyone is going to snap a couple rings during assembly. They aren’t the strong. And, in the future, they might also snap a ring when moving the enclosure. Why on earth would you send no extras?! They’re inexpensive to produce – and this enclosure is not on the inexpensive end – send some extra. I snapped 4 during my build. So now I have 4 tabs without rings. And this isn’t my first time building something with this sort of ring/tab design.
The instructions were pretty confusing as they were for two different models and it took me a second to figure out which one I had (and why I couldn’t find the piece like in the picture). The pictures are also hilariously microscopic. I was staring super super hard at them trying to make heads or tails of them.
You have to apply a LOT of force to get the hygrometer in the hole. You know, the force the instructions tell you not to apply because you could break the acrylic. I even was using a flat headed screw driver to try to wiggle the side bit of the hygrometer in. I felt like I was going to break the lid with the amount of force I was using.
It isn’t leak proof when in horizontal mode despite it being advertised as vertical or horizontal. I am going to have to seal it with aquarium safe silicone and let it cure before I can move isopods in. I should not have to do that for an enclosure at this price point.
So, yeah, I’m going to use this after some adjustments and my panda king isopods will have a lovely little house but it’s really a huge hassle of an isopod enclosure so I wouldn’t get it just for that. It is not fit or safe for small lizards, hermit crabs, or snakes as it lists in the title. The description also lists “ascrested gecko” (guessing that’s supposed to be crested gecko), leopard gecko, and bearded dragon. No. Just no. Absolutely not for those species. Ever.

While not using it for it’s advertised functionality, I recently got my hands on the Hygger Zoo Reptile Terrarium for my daughter’s dairy cow isopods, and I have to say, it’s a fantastic little habitat. The terrarium’s clear 4mm acrylic walls give us an unobstructed view of the isopods’ daily antics, which is a big hit with my daughter.
The setup was a breeze. It was a snap-together affair that didn’t require any tools, making it a fun and interactive experience for both of us. The compact design is perfect for my daughter’s room, not taking up too much space while still providing plenty of room for the isopods to roam around.
What I really appreciate is the built-in thermo-hygrometer. Keeping track of the temperature and humidity is crucial for these critters, and this terrarium makes it easy to ensure their environment is just right. Plus, the ventilation is top-notch, with plenty of holes to keep the air fresh without letting any tiny inhabitants escape.
All in all, this Terrarium is a great find, It’s sturdy, easy to manage, and most importantly, my daughter loves it. Watching her take care of her isopods and learn about their needs has been a great experience for both of us. Definitely a thumbs up from this parent!
