I have an older cat and he loves the bed. It does not gett too hot and the animal’s natural body heat makes it nice and cozy.

EDIT: silly me, it wouldn’t be heated if there was a power outage LOL. But doesn’t mean it’s still a great bed!
I got this because the cold in Canada can be unbearable sometimes. Wrinkle is an indoor cat, but he’s also a Sphynx, so I got this heated bed to keep him warm. I don’t trust the furnace in the house very much, or if there is a power outage, I don’t want him to be frozen.
Took a couple days for my cat to get used to having a second bed. He ditched his old bed and has been sleeping in it since. The side of the bed is made of soft foam and he loves resting his head on in.

At first they didnβt care for it because theyβre used to the heating pads that warm up before they get in. Our female figured it out first and stayed in the bed for what felt like 2 days straight once she learned how it works. Now they love this bed and two sleep in it at a time. Itβs great for the winter and makes me feel better about leaving my Sphynx at night in the winter knowing he can go to it if he gets chilly. The 20 inch comfortably fits 2 full size cats but I could see 3 if they were more like our females size (6-7lbs).

I leave my house at 63ΒΊF. I have an older cat who is getting skinny and I decided that a heated bed might help her. She’s on meds that suppress her immune system and I don’t want her to catch a cold… or worse. She will sleep in cat beds so after reading the great reviews about this one, I decided to purchase it.
As others have pointed out, it is a nice bed. It has zippers so you can remove the heater and clean the bed. It’s soft, too.
It’s hardly warm without a cat laying on it. If your cat lays on it long enough, it will feel warmer. I don’t really know what to expect from 4 watt heater. Perhaps with the high sides and a cat sitting on the heater, the heat is localized and doesn’t escape, which provides a stable temperature for long term use. My cat has been spending time in this bed rather than on the bed near me. A friend has one of these for his outdoor partially inside cat and his cat prefers the heated bed to unheated.
I also bought a self-warming mat for $11. It’s mylar between two pieces of materia. That DOES work to keep heat in. It’s like one of those light weight emergency camping “blankets”. I put the mat on my lap and it warmed up my lap. Buy (or make!) a couple of those too. No electricity needed.
Update after three years: I have TWO of these beds. My old cat used the heated bed all summer this year. It has gotten chilly enough that my other old cat has started using the bed. I have had no trouble with these beds. The best money I ever spent on beds; several co-workers have purchased this bed for cats and it is a hit with all of them.
I originally gave this two stars. But after seeing how much my cats like it, I am now giving it four stars. My older cat spends a lot of time in the bed and her sneezing has stopped (for now). I have been spot checking the temp beneath the cats and it feels pretty warm. I think the heat level is just about right for a cat to spend hours sleeping in the bed without getting too warm. I think the key here that you want just the right temp to match the body heat of the cat and this bed seems to do that pretty well.
Feb 2016 update: The two beds I purchased still look great and work. A couple of years ago, my 17 year old started using the bed year round so it does not get unplugged during the summer. My other cat got sick and became incontinent and I used puppy pads to cover the pillow. After he passed, I took the bed apart and cleaned with Nature’s Miracle and hand washed in warm water with laundry detergent and they look like new again! The pillow is still fluffy and has held up well. I would give this 6 stars!
October 30 2018 update. Well, the second of two cats who used these beds has passed. These two beds were on year round for at least the last five years. Excellent bed, and the price hasn’t gone up. The 16″ bed will hold a 20 pound cat easily.

I recently acquired a little Cornish Rex kitten just over 2 lbs of about 4 months of age. Most cats have three hair types: guard outer hair, awn, and down hair. The Cornish Rex only has their down and tend to need a little extra help with keeping their body heat up during the winter. As soon as I knew I was getting little “Beatrice” I did some research on heated cat beds. This one won me over for several points.
1. With the voltage it can be safely left on 24 hours a day. The voltage is low enough that the cost is minimal and unnoticeable to any electric bills. I’m one of those people that unplugs their hair dryer after using it, so the safety of the cat bed was of utmost importance. The cord is also long enough that I can keep it slightly away from the wall just to ease my mind a little bit more.
2. I read on here that it doesn’t get warm enough. It does truly get a comfortable warm, any more so and I’d be worried that it would be irritating to the cat’s skin or coat. An example of how warm it is can be that when I get home from work and my little cat hears me and greets me at the door, I can tell she was in the bed a minute ago by touching the bed. It works best when there is some sort of pressure on it, it doesn’t really feel warm unless something is pressing against the bed part be it a cat or even a small blanket.
3. The price is reasonable and the cover is removable so it can be washed. I didn’t want to get a heated cat bed that would after time be unusable because of getting dirty. There are also some great color options depending on your style. I went with the sage green which is pretty neutral in tones, but I see you can get different patterned pieces.
I was lucky enough to get her interested in this bed while young. I know cats can be finicky, but for a Cornish Rex this is a great purchase. The first day she sniffed it and didn’t pay attention to it which makes me think the chemical smell of the bag it arrived in was off putting. A couple days later and when I’m not giving her enough lap time she’s on it like a magnet. Well worth the small amount of money, I encourage a purchase!

I am returning this. It came with a US plug, which I thought was fine. I got an adaptor and plugged it in. Fine. I noticed the bed was warm all the time. Cat in it or not the bed was very warm. And when you pressed on it with your hand it made a buzzing noise. Fast forward a few days and Iβm smelling burning. You guessed it. Coming from this bed. The plastic heat pad in the bed was boiling and melted. The whole bed smells like a bonfire. Thank god I noticed otherwise it could have caught fire. I have another one of these beds that is the UK version and it works fine. Only gets warm when a cat is in it etc. plus the UK one doesnβt have a heat pad. I donβt know where this one came from but itβs a safety hazard. Not happy at all, especially considering the price of this bed.
If you are in the UK donβt buy this pet bed!!

Bought this for my senior cat who had started spending a lot of time leaning on the radiator…. she now spends most of her day in the bed. The “20 inch” is pretty large and cat fit one cat stretched out or two if they’re willing to snuggle. As some other reviewers noted, the bed was a bit squished when it came out of the box but after a couple months of use it has rounded out nicely. It makes a gentle heat that only comes on when the cat gets it. I do wish that the cover was removable for washing; it’s a bit awkward when it needs to be cleaned. All the same it makes my cats so happy that I bought a second one.
Wrinkle –
I bought this cat to make my cat comfortable after multiple surgeries. She’s fussy about everything, but the moment she felt the low heat on her paws, she lied down and immediately adopted this bed. It’s very, very comfy and the heat is very low, so there is no danger of her getting burned in her sleep. I’ll have to get a few more for the other cats, because the regular, non-heated cat beds no longer cut it for my furballs. I have been buying K&H products for years. I have been using their heated shelters for the strays for several years, and they are highly efficient and reliable. And now I am also using their interior products for my household cats. Keep up the good work K&H.
