I broke my ankle on a Monday, and long story short: I went to emergency and was put in a cast/splint and sent home with crutches. Because of balance problems and RA in my shoulders, I could not adjust to the crutches. After trying for them for 2 days I fell off the crutches and dislocated my pinky finger and broke it. The crutches had to go. So I searched on Amazon and found the Knee Rover. After reading the wonderful reviews on it I decided to order the Knee Rover.
I ordered the Knee Rover on August 31, and it was at my door on September 1st. Great shipping service. The box came nicely sealed and no damage on the box. Inside the box the rover was well protected with plastic ties and secured in foam pieces that prevented any damage if the box did move around during shipping.
I took the rover out of the box and within 15 minutes I had it assembled. All you have to do is put on the steering piece, lock it, and then put on the seat and lock that. (This is actually one big reason why I ordered it because I am a senior and have arthritis I didn’t want anything that I had to put together myself.)
The colour blue is awesome in person. The rover is very nice looking and looks like it’s way more than I paid. It has handlebars that are easy to grip and a seat that so is unbelievably soft and comfortable. I used it at night when I got up to go to the bathroom and have carpet all through my Studio apartment. The rover just glided over the carpet with ease and bathroom trips are easy now.
Now for the test outside:
After a week shut in the house I was getting Cabin Fever and decided to take the rover out for a spin. I was nervous at first especially with a broken ankle and a broken finger. But, I got over my anxiety and went for it:
I walked uphill to the lake. It’s about a mile from where I live. I put my knee on the rover and walked with my other foot. The rover was easy to maneuver and I had no problems with it on the paved sidewalk. It was a breeze and I was enjoying it. Because I’m 72 and full of arthritis I didn’t want to overdo it, so I took rests on the way. The seat was very comfortable to rest on and I’d sit for a while in the fresh air and then get going again.
Once I made it to the lake I tested it on the gravel pathway. And, no, there is no way it will work on a gravel road. So, I pulled off the gravel path and went up on the grass area to complete my walk. It worked on low-cut grass much better. I sat for a while on the comfortable seat watching the animals in the water. After about an hour, I headed back home. I coasted most of the way at a slow pace because it was mostly downhill. I also used the brakes at times and they worked great. I knew not to put them on suddenly or I would topple over. I gently, and slowly applied pressure to the brakes and they worked great.
I prefer to bring a backpack on my back rather than a basket on the rover. As I carry a lot in my bag. Especially, from the store. I had the backpack attached to the front of the rover at first but the rover was stating to tip over front-ways. So, I took it off. It won’t tip while you have your knee on it, but I was walking alongside the rover so I could give my arthritic knee a rest. I did find it uncomfortable on my already bad knee if I didn’t take sit breaks. Nothing to do with the rover. I just need another knee injection.
It was so good to get out of the house today and I’m happy to say that it was because of this amazing rover I could do that. I am extremely happy with my purchase and the shipping. I already recommended this rover to my friends.
So, there you are: My happy story with the Knee Rover. I gave 4 stars on the sturdiness because it did tip with too much weight on front and not enough weight on the back. (When I took my bad knee off and walked beside it holding the middle bar.) So, that was my fault. But, it did tip so I wanted to add that.
Few tips:
Don’t add too much weight to the front. Keep your leg well outside of the wheels so you don’t catch your leg in the wheel and possible fall. Don’t go fast on it. Even though it can coast pretty fast down hills, keep it slow. Don’t apply brake pressure too sudden. Slowly pull the levers back to let the rover slow down. Because this one can go pretty darn fast if you are not braking.
All in all I am very happy with my purchase. I’m looking forward to my next walk to the lake in a few days. I will put the lessons I learned on my first trip to good use.
Thank- you Knee Rover for this wonderful product. And, Thank -you Amazon for getting it to me so fast, and without a scratch.

This has really been an absolute life changer. I fractured my ankle and was non weight bearing for 7 weeks I was using crutches for the 1st few days and finding it uncomfortable and difficult to get around but the scooter really turned it around. It was much easier to get around the house and go outside. It was very stable and good quality. I wouldn’t say it’s heavy but it’s not light either if it was light it wouldn’t be as stable. You will probably need some help to assemble if you are non weight bearing as you do need to get under it to adjust the knee rest. Really worth it if you aren’t good with crutches and still want to do things around the house. The rubber wheels can leave little scuff marks on tiles and wood floors but I found as I’m getting around I can wipe them up with my good leg if I have socks on they come up easily!

Best investment after my husband fractured his left ankle and truly was struggling with getting around the house on crutches. His cast is up to his knee. The knee rover allows him to be a bit more independent during his healing process. It was very easy to assemble. Attach handle bars with brakes already attached and set and attach seat to desired height and voila. It maneuvers very well. It is light weight and very sturdy and very well balanced. Now he has no more painful agony of trying to keep his leg balanced and elevated while trying to walk with the crutches. When he first tried it out he was over the moon with delight that getting around was so much easier and no pain with it. The price was very fair. I called a place on town about renting a knee rover and their price to rent was more money then buying it out right. Plus with covid now it made more sense to buy it brand new as he will be laid up for at least 10 weeks after his really bad fracture. I would HIGHLY recommend this knee rover. My husband is over 60 years in age and he rides this device like a kid.
Thank you to the vendor that has supplied this great device.

When you’re told to keep ALL weight off of your left foot after surgery for at least six weeks, cringeful thoughts of struggling with crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs comes to mind. I recently found myself in such a situation. I live in an older construction farm house with very narrow doorways so take the wheelchair out of the picture. Also, I’m a big dude (6’3″ and nearly 350lbs) so throw that in the mix and you have a headache just trying to figure out the best way to comply with the wishes of your surgeon without half killing yourself trying to get around. Enter my good friend – the knee scooter. My wife found this scooter on Amazon at a price that was certainly much cheaper than renting one from a home health supply for the amount of time I’d need it. Shipping was fast and on time as always when dealing with Amazon. It does require some assembly but nothing most anyone can’t handle. The moment I tried it out I knew this was THE perfect alternative to sore armpits. I’m on week 4 of my recovery and I can honestly say it’s been a godsend. The ease in which you’ll find yourself moving around is a thing of beauty. The wheels are large enough to allow you to navigate thick carpets and even grass. The knee bench is pretty adequately padded and comfortable and the scooter feels pretty well made. I use mine frequently and have not had any issues with it at all. I do have some observations that you may want to keep in mind…
1. The scooter moves about very freely so always keep a hand on the brake and handle. The brake engages on the back wheel and does have a locking mechanism, however, it is quite weak so don’t expect it to lock tightly.
2. So far I’ve went to several follow up appointments and errands with this scooter and it travels pretty well. It’s not too heavy and not too light either.
3. I must caution anyone using a knee scooter to be mindful of uneven surfaces and thresholds. You can lose your balance and find yourself eating ground if you decide to get in a hurry and try to speed your way across entryways and sidewalks with transitions. Again, be mindful of where you will be maneuvering and take it slow if the surface seems uneven.
4. So far durability doesn’t seem to be an issue but it probably wouldn’t hurt to check the screws and bolts every once in a while if you are going to be using this for an extended period of time. Especially if you will be doing a lot of traveling about,
All in all this thing has afforded me great mobility and comfort over what I would have went through with other alternatives. The price was great and having it has made my surgery much more manageable. If you’re tired of the crutches and walker, give one of these a try.
