Summary: I wanted some of the features of a digital metronome (subdivisions, adjustable volume, etc) but cannot stand the digital beeping noise that all those I’ve come across tend to have. This has several mechanical type ‘clicks’.
Whichever finish you go for, this is a lot to spend for a digital metronome that isn’t a super sophisticated drummer style gadget which is programmable. The limited edition brown wood effect version is more.
That said, I am glad I got the wood-look one as it’s very pleasant on the eye and has a more natural, organic vibe to it.
As other reviewers have said, it’s significantly smaller than you might expect from looking at it. Please check the dimensions to be sure it’s suitable for you. For me, the small size is great … I’m not after furniture.
Volume: adjustable from very quiet to quite loud – perfect for my home practice needs
Design: very clearly laid out controls which (to me) need no explanation.
Ease of use:
– tempo knob (the large knob on the front) is great for quickly adjusting tempo
– tab tempo (left, smaller button on top) – fantastic for immediately setting by tapping
– lights – the larger button on top is the start/stop button, and lights ‘red’ for each first beat, and green for subdivision beats… useful as a visual aid and/or if wanting a visual tempo aid with no audible volume
– sub-menu’s and multi-purpose controls: thank goodness each button has just one function. It’s a nice reprieve from so many bits of electronic kit with multiple settings and menu’s.
Conclusions: for someone wanting the sound preference of a ‘mechanical’ metronome, with some of the features and advantages of digital ones, where all functions/adjustments are immediately ‘to hand’, this is a superb bit of kit.

1. laut genug um beim fff auf der Querflöte durch alle Lagen noch wahrgenommen zu werden.
2. Displaybeleuchtung vermisse ich nicht. Da zum Lesen der Noten eh ausreicht Licht da sein muss.
3. Der Wichtigste Schalter Go/Standby ist ja beleuchtet und auch mit einer Hand zu bedienen ohne das die Flöte abgesetzt werden muss.
Resümee: Finde ich besser als mein mechanisches Metronom, weil man auch Triolen oder komplexe Tacktarten damit üben kann. Der Sound ist Geschmacksache, aber im Modus mechanisches Metronom seht es im Klang der Wittner 800er Serie (habe ich auch eins mit Glocke) in nichts nach. Deshalb wer sich mit Elektrik anfreunden kann klare Kaufempfehlung!

I trust Korg, and this is a decent Metronome. And honestly, I was drawn to it buy its “classic” looks – but read the dimensions – it’s smaller than I expected. (that’s my fault, not a product issue)
But there ARE much better values out there, considering this one doesn’t even have usb power/charging support for rechargeable batteries.
It’s pretty basic by today’s standard – especially for it’s “advanced” price tag.
I’d give it a lower rating, but I should have researched it better before purchasing.
If you do your research, you’ll find better featured metronomes at a better price.

Great little metronome. The key word is little. It’s smaller than I expected, I guess I was expecting it to be the same size as a normal metronome. Not really an issue since it works so well.

I’m VERY PLEASED with my new KORG KDM-3 Metronome that I purchased for use when I’m at the piano keyboard! It replaces my old but reliable Franz Quartz Metronome which finally conked out. The KDM-3 has features which are important to me: (1) stands upright so the set tempo is always visible when one is seated at the keyboard; (2) has volume control; (3) has a base which will not harm or scratch the finish on the music desk of a grand piano. (I also added 4 tiny rubber bumper pads on the base.) I heartily recommend this metronome!!!

I was originally going to buy another cheap plastic mechanical metronome but, as the prices went higher, I started to think about the Korg. Good looking, small, and with minimal distractions, it seemed to fit the bill. I am glad I paid the extra $. The #6 sound is pleasant to listen to for long periods of time, tempo changes are quick with the wheel, and I love that you can change from 3/4 to 4/4 and back with one button push. I haven’t had to max out the volume while practicing the upright bass. It doesn’t look cheap, which may or not be as important to others as it is to me.

really handsome look- ( I ordered the limited wooden version- ) just to let you know – its really small – half of size of real analog metronome so dont act surprised- read the description- I knew its gonna be small so I was ok with it. Works great. sounds are not to pleasant for the ear tho- cheap build in speaker ruins the experience a little bit. and the screen has no light so in poor light conditions visibility whats on the tiny screen could be a deal breaker for some folks- also product is ultra light so be aware of not hitting too hard the top button- it might flip the metronome 😂
If korg ever read the reviews- please add some LED backlight to the screen and maybe a metal plate underneath to give it more stability and change this terribly bad sounding speaker – for that hefty price you can get in any shop really decent waterproof BT build to last speaker with built in soft that can do much more than metronome so the price should be no issue- and maybe make it a bit bigger so its less “flimsy “

Nice and compact. I got the wood finish model (vs the black). The wood finish is glossy and classy looking… but more expensive.
The unit uses 4 regular alkaline batteries which lasts a good time while keeping a loud sound – louder than competing similar newer models.
The only drawbacks to this nice timepiece is that it powers only with batteries – it cannot be plugged in… and also the price, as there are newer models (LEKATO) that are 1/3 the price AND can be plugged in via a usb cord, with more features. BUT this wood grain finish is BEAUTIFUL.

I love the look of this metronome, as well as the digital dial type. I used to have a seiko (which is really good) but it is annoying not having each number available. I like the tone, it is a piercing sound and volume controlled. I like how the metronome sits on the bottom and not on a stand. It doesn’t seem to fall as many other metronomes fall off the piano when using it. It is straightforward to use and I use this when teaching many students and with both my kids playing two instruments – this has been well used.
