As soon as I turned it on the motor smells like electrical issues. I thought maybe it just needed to warm up and burn off new tool smells. Ran it at 1 or 2 speed with little to no load on it. Smell started to go away. As I used it the motor heated up and the smell came back. Then the speed started to reduce regardless of how much load was applied. I never loaded it heavy, I was lightly compounding a boat hull with it. No good.

Got this to buff out my 21ft, 23ft, boats, a suburban, a celica, a couple of wave runners. The 21ft boat is only 3 years old and was showing oxidation on stern and ports sides. This machine was put through its paces for several days straight. I was out there at it a solid 6 to 8 hours a day since I had a bit of free time on my hands. I blame the Oxidation remover, polish, and wax kit I got for not giving me the results expected. At 1st I thought I am just not doing this right. I worked an area with the Orange pad and the oxidation compound and within hours its came back. Port side exposed to sun more than starboard with how it sits in the lift. So, I doubled down on the remover, bought some wool pads as the foam pad was already disintegrating. By the 4th day, my arms and shoulders were on fire and I had gone through the 3 step compounds numerous times. So, I grabbed my bottle of Mothers cleaner and Brazilian Carnuba Wax and made one last pass on the stern and port side. Well, sadly, the buffer was smelling like something burning, so I took the air hose and blew out the vents. Then while holding it vertical it starts cutting out on me. So, I open the side access ports and think the brushes are worn out. Nope, they look good. Back at it for a few minutes and its going good, then the burnt smell again and now the bearings in it are making a not so good sound like they ran out of grease. So, I returned it no problem. It from china, you get a good one or you don’t. I may just be too hard on my stuff. But when polishing and buffing out a car or boat, size and strength does not matter because you actually have to control the machine so you don’t push too hard all day and possibly burn through. Slow steady movement and change directions constantly and keep moving. So, I am 6 ft and 200lbs which means nothing when buffing. I am actually not even letting the weight of the machine against the surface at times. I think it is a good machine and comes with a good selection of foam pads from course to fine, a 6 and a 7 inch buffer holder, as well as a spare set of brushes which are just clipped in once the access hatch is removed with 1 screw. I just got a bad one or I should have let it cool off more often. Since I hold it at the head most of the time, I can feel it getting hot. Maybe I should have opened it up and made sure there is sufficient grease in the gear there where it is doing a 90 degree change in direction. I still have a HF tool from 25 years ago that works fine. I bought one for my brother that didn’t last 5 minutes. It is what it is when buying these tools these days. Cheers!

I purchased this buffer/polisher to buff out a white Nissan. It worked great! It made the paint look like new. I then used ceramic coating and could not be happier. I am a retired bodyman/painter and recommend this buffer for simple paint restoration. Thanks.

The low speed is not steady, the faster speeds are better. The handle will not stay tight. The trigger is hard to hold in, the trigger hold is hard to set. Other that all this it is not to bad for a cheap buffer, not bad for small jobs.

This product is amazing and gets the job done. I have a brand new car and of course just like an older car, I knew I’d get a chip in the hood. I decided to purchase the Subaru exact match paint and clear coat and began applying the smallest amount of car paint. The paint pen has a large tip and I was getting frustrated with the application. I probably wiped it off with alcohol 5 times. After adding the clear coat, I absolutely hated the results. It looked worse than ever. I decided on using a little sponge on the area to remove the clear coat only to discover it was abrasive to my car. After multiple purchases, Scratchdent, compounds and to no avail, I decided to by an actual handheld car buffer. Easy to assemble, super easy to use and it comes with many levels of buffing pads. I started with the least abrasive and gradually worked my way up to semi abrasive ( the green waffle pad) VOILA, it started to erase the scratches and quickly removed the white haze on my hood. Make sure you get the buffer pad wet before using on a painted surface. Simply put, if it’s dry it can become to hot as it spins on the paint surface and cause marring.. Simply place the compound, 5 daps around the buffer pad and then lightly press down on the paint surface in several sections to evenly distribute the compound. Place the buffer on the paint surface and then turn on letting the machine do the work ( No force or pressure is required) For $60.00 this is a must have for your car, both old and new!! I avoided spending several hundred dollars at a detailing shop with this amazing product. 5 star review
