I’ve used Logitech products for many, many years on multiple Windows computers with various applications including graphic design, video production, spreadsheets and word processing. As expected, this new Logitech M510 mouse is very responsive and precise. It is a full size mouse that fits my female hand wonderfully. I really like the rubber grips on the sides as they make the mouse easy to hold onto and move comfortably, especially when working on my computer for long periods of time.

I bought this one to replace my older Logitech mouse that I’m sure I’ve had and used extensively for 10+ years. That mouse was still accurate and precise, but the left button began having sporadic problems responding as a double-click when I single-clicked and vice versa.

Installation of this new M510 mouse was a breeze. I simply unplugged the old mouse receiver dongle and inserted the new tiny USB receiver (while my pc was still running). My pc recognized the change, updated itself, I hit the power button on the bottom of the mouse, the mouse instantly responded and I was able to return to working on my pc with no problem at all. I also love having the mini USB receiver rather than the old dongle or large receiver. It’s a must-have for laptops as well as for eliminating another wire draping off the back of my desktop.

I would highly recommend (and have) Logitech devices for use on any Windows-based computer.

I bought this for work at my home office and have no issues or complaints after years of use. It is durable and high-quality, has lasted me a while and still going strong. I use it 5 days a week so pretty frequently. Also good for business travel. The set up is very easy, took me less than a minute. Just plug the USB receiver into your computer and give your computer a few seconds to recognize the new device. Make sure your laptop has a USB port before purchasing this, some newer computers from certain brands do not. Comfortable and works as you would expect a mouse to, highly recommend!

EDIT: Almost three months later. Battery going strong. If it died at this point, I wouldn’t have complaints to be honest.

You have a very basic set of buttons, right/left click, middle click, the tilt buttons, and a forward and backward button. The buttons feel solid enough, responsive enough, and the wheel is thankfully silent and hits the correct balance of scroll speed, necessary for just about most you will need in a standard productivity environment.

The censor of the mouse will track on most surfaces (not glass, this isn’t dark-laser after all), and it will track well. I am not a firm believer in mouse pads in productivity environments, as I believe they needlessly add to the clutter (unless for gaming, in which case I am adamantly for them). A flat surface is all this mouse seems to need.

The mouse has a ‘weighty’ feel to it, and the construction of it seems to be sturdy enough (i dropped it a few times already, no noticeable damage), and the rubber grips feel pretty nice, without feeling ‘cheap’. I don’t want to dwell on ‘form-factors’ too much because it will always be subjective, and obviously trying to keep both ‘ambidexterity’ and ‘form-factor’ meant this mouse might be a BIT off-ball to some.

This mouse is NOT a portability/laptop class sized mouse, which means some might be looking for a fuller grip, but for those who aren’t looking for that or those who are left handed, the form factor is certainly sufficient enough, AND it is ambidextrous.

The ambidextrous form-factor has proved to be surprisingly accommodating, EVEN if the side buttons are obviously to the more right-hand favored side of the mouse (the mouse’ left side to allow for thumbs to press).

I’ve actually been inspired by this mouse to try going left handed… just for work at the office. It’s been a fascinating and surprisingly productive experience. For someone using this mouse with a left hand, the buttons are perfectly reachable enough with the ring finger, and the fact that the buttons have a big of a groove inward allows you to put pressure on either of the side buttons with your ring finger.

The software, the same also used for much higher end line-ups of mice, is available to this mouse as well. Which means all the aforementioned buttons are configurable, not quite to the extent the gaming mice are with their macro programming and what have you, but most certainly enough for someone looking to use it for daily use.

The dongle, is the unifying dongle from logitech, it receives well, and the mouse seems to transmit well enough through my pointless thick desk, and it’s even more worthless layers of panels posing as drawers.

OH RIGHT, the battery life. Apparently the battery will outlast the hardware. The “3 year” claim remains to be seen. It’s holding up so far after 2-3 weeks in,

    TLDR

It’s not for gaming, as my review notes, and it’s not really for those with big hands or those looking for a ‘full grip’. This mouse doesn’t offer that. But remember that form factor preferences of a mouse are SUBJECTIVE, and there’s very little the manufacturer can do if at all to make a mouse ‘one form fits all’. And if you remember that no one should be looking at this anyway for gaming needs, it’s very solid/great product otherwise.
