This is a very useful addition to my short bed 2015 F-150. However, my extender did not come with the template to locate the drill holes for the mounting brackets. I had to go to the Lund website, find the installation instructions with the template, print it, cut it out, make sure it was sized correctly using the mounting bracket as a guide, & finally use it to correctly drill the holes for the mounting brackets. Also, the called for drill bit size was too small for the supplied metal screws.

Assembly instructions were kind of lame but, I have a lot of mechanical and assembly experience. Be sure and measure the correct height placement for the bed pivot mounts. This might be a challenge for someone not mechanically inclined. (My husband would have lost his mind). The quality is great for the price. Just wish it had a pin-lock instead of the strap to tailgate latch. I’ve figured out a way to do that.

I bought no drill brackets and it made the install very easy even with a spray in bed liner. Easy to remove if needed.

If there was any issues with the installation – the templates didn’t work and a screw was missing.
Otherwise it took an hour (if not less) to install. Fantastic spray coat finish. Matches my spray-in liner. Easy to build and install. Works great. And it doesn’t even touch the tslot tonneau cover when flipping into the bed, when not in use.
Installed in a 2023 gmc sierra 1500 with a retrax t-slot tonneau cover and cargo rack.

Easy assembly and install. No cutting required. My bed is 5 feet wide between the mounting points. As others have said, there is no mounting template included but I didn’t need it. Look for the damaged box offerings from Amazon and save some money. Free returns if something is wrong.

What kind of score do you give a product that isn’t worthy right out of the box, but is Awesome when you’ve fixed it up to your standards? A “3” is all I can give it. This bed extender will do what they say it does, “Fits all trucks”. I’m gonna step out on a limb here and say that it does. This extender gets really big and really small. I can’t imagine it not fitting ALL pickups. I put mine on a GMC Sierra. The problem comes in when you go to mount it. I wasn’t happy at all with the parts they gave me, so I had to get my own (Trip “1” to the hardware store). Then I realized that the adjustable bars on the extender were not up to my standards (Trip “2” to the hardware store). After drilling my own holes in the extender and adding my own hardware to it, I am finally done. Now, it’s a piece of rock solid equipment that looks really good. I’m looking forward to using it for many years to come and it’s now worthy of a “5” score. If your okay with using your own skill set to make something Awesome out of someone else’s parts, then I highly recommend this product. If you just want to bolt something on and be done with it, I don’t recommend this one for you. I don’t like the safety straps either. Those should run into the bed box and mount them to the strap mount in the truck bed. There is no way I’m going through the hassle of mounting the Safety straps to my tailgate locks.

This is a solid product. I’m not sure why some of the others reviewed it poorly. I installed this and a bed lighting kit in a 2018 Silverado 2500 in about 3 hours. They supply templates and the instructions are clear. The bars are set and held with friction/compression at the slip joins. You really don’t need to add anything to it. I tested by yanking back on it with all my weight and the bars will bend before they slide out. Tip: when installing, to slide them easily, push in at the slip join and they move nicely. No need to lub or fight them. The 21/64th drill bit size is odd…I just used a 5/16th and wallowed it slightly for the bolts to fit though. This is designed to fit a full sized truck, so I would expect you might have to cut some off the rails to get it to fit a mid sized, as others have said. Again that’s not a big deal… However, I was able to get them slipped in ALL the way, with a little tapping at the end. Based on measurement of mid size beds it ‘should’ fit without mods.
Anyway, it takes a little patience and minor skill with a drill (and maybe a sawz all) and you’ll have a nice extender for a decent price.

Followed the directions to the “T”, but this item will NOT fit a 2019 Ford Ranger. In fact, it’s not even close. The width is way to wide. Marking the rails at 7″ as instructed leaves the extender roughly 3″ too wide. The bed bracket hole also Do Not line up with the factory holes. There is no freaking way (even if you modify the bracket to somehow adapt to your truck), you will never get it to fit within your bed, much less clear the tailgate catches on either side of the bed. ALSO, You’ll get several bags of nuts, bolts and screws, nut nothing there available to fit the existing threaded bed holes of your Ranger, which are 6mm.
