These are by far my favorite strings, my Ovation, Yamaha, Takamine, Guild all sound great, I like the balance of the custom light sets, they hold tune forever once broken in, and they feel good, stay untarnished well too. I’ve never broken one either, and I strum aggressive sometimes, yes you can get some Van Halen type harmonics, give them a try, they don’t break the bank either.

So convenient to order Martin & Co acoustic guitar strings online, saving time, gas and money. Perfectly packaged and arrived quickly, thank you! I had the strings put on my guitar yesterday and I must say, these strings can’t be beat. I had Elixir strings on my guitar previously and there is no comparison, these are light years better and sound much better. With the coating on them as well, they feel much better on the finger picking and my local guitar shop said they will last a lot longer. Overall, very pleased and discovered my new/favorite set of guitar strings! It was everyone’s’ positive reviews that let me to try them and needless to say, grateful for the posting of good reviews that help others discover something better than what they currently had.

As these are ultra lights, they offer bright sound and clarity. Great for many acoustic guitars, even electric acoustics. Down side is for the beginner, because they are ultra light, thus means they are thin, and will hurt your finger tips at first, buy as you play, they will hurt less since calloused will build up. Recommend thin to medium for beginners. Or as a pro tip given to me, add some dabs of super glue to just your finger tips, let it dry. The super glue adds some protection against the string cutting into your finger tips and leaves a cushion so you can play longer until your fingers adjust to the strings, don’t worry the glue will wear off naturally. Also, if you play frequently, Recommend changing out your strings about every 3 to 4 months.

Nothing but Martin strings for my d28
Suchait Guitars –

a COMPARISON.
These are Really good strings for some things. I ordinarily play ELIXIR Nano’s…Light and Custom light depending on my mood, recording, what I’m playing etc.
When I bought my new Martin OM-18, I had them put these on as they were out of my regular strings, Elixir Phosphor Nano’s..(In Nashville those are Uber Popular).
These Martin strings have a Great individual note attack in the style of bluegrass, country etc… super woody-vintage sounding without being too bright. On chording, they were almost a tad too colorful but that might just be the guitar (adirondack top, Mahogany Back….warm, bright, woody). Their output is outstanding..just sheer dB’s off the board.
If I were recording flat picked over-dubs, I couldn’t think of a better tone…Maybe even a hair better than elixirs…very papery and in-your-face old school sounding.
I played them a few hours a day for a month and they weren’t losing any luster, but I missed the FEEL of elixirs. THESE strings have more…traction? Grab? When I am playing fingerstyle I have to be way more careful to press and release and it was harder to slide around the fret board…
I am a tradesman and my hands are rock hard and calloused from years of work and playing guitar… When I sit down to play and relax I am not wanting to have to focus on my technique so much…and that’s the only reason these didn’t get a 5..that ‘stickiness’ that Elixir’s don’t have. I would and will still keep a set of these around for recording or just a mood change… In fact, if you have a guitar that is sort of lacking in color, these might even be better?

Trying to find out the factory standard (equipped) string for the Martin SC13E.
I bought my guitar from a “Martin Dealer” and they changed the strings before they shipped it out to 12/54’s. It is a noticeable difference and did not sound right to me, kind of a unique guitar design_ so string selection is pretty important. Note to self: Always buy it after you have played THAT instrument!!
Just ordered there 11/52’s which is what they come from the factory with, I highly recommend the original strings. Easier on the fingers and it is what it sounds like when you demo the guitar. Geesh

I was initially concerned that a coated string would have a duller sound, but there was no noticeable difference (maybe a tiny difference too small for concern without a side-by-side comparison or recording). However, the longevity was outstanding. I live in FL, which can be tough on strings, but I had these on for TWO YEARS and they still sounded decent. I no longer play professionally — only a few hours per month and do not want to be changing strings 2 or 3 times a year. These are the perfect solution at only a slightly higher price than uncoated strings.
