Definitely not top of line but perfect for a beginner

I have played flute for 4 years and my band teacher said I should invest in a piccolo for high school and for my own entertainment. So at my next visit to a music store I asked about renting or buying a piccolo and they were very expensive and I wasn’t sure is I wanted to play piccolo so I went to amazon where you can find and buy pretty much everything you want and was amazed to find one for 130 dollars so in the next couple of days I baught it… I baught it the week of New Years so my shipping was delayed but it was worth the wait. When the piccolo came I opened up the package and set up the piccolo to find that it was very small and the emboucher hole was a lot small again. And I was very happy because I could make a sound on it right away but size I will have to get used to which I have now… I also love the sound the piccolo makes it is very loud and pentirating but I like it … So I told my teacher about my new piccolo and he wanted me to play for him and after I did he said the sound quality was great and he also examined the piccolo to see if there was anything wrong with it from shipping but there was none… The piccolo I got thought must have been in storage a while because it was a little marked up but I got it off with cleaning and polishing… The piccolo cleaing rod is not durable and it doesn’t come with a cloth so I just got a pad saver instead wich I like a lot and is way easier to clean !!!! GREAT BUY YOU WON’T BE SORRY !!!

I have been playing the flute/piccolo for 15 years. I have experience with both cheap and expensive instruments. I was in search of a piccolo that I would be able to play both indoors and outdoors without having to worry too much about it being affected by poor weather conditions. I got the black plastic body with the silver plated keys and headjoint. I’ve now had this piccolo for about 2 weeks and I like it. Obviously, I wasn’t expecting it to be an amazing quality piccolo, those get pretty pricey. For what it costs, this Mendini piccolo plays wonderfully and tunes easily. With that being said, it is obvious to an experienced flutist that it is not top quality, but it gets the job done.
This piccolo is perfect for beginners, marching bands, or people who just play for fun in a local community band (such as myself). If you’re a professional you wouldn’t be buying a piccolo from Amazon.
The piccolo comes with a bag style case with a strap, a cleaning rod, cleaning cloth (for polishing) and cork grease.
Some of the other reviews mention horror stories with the piccolo being damaged, deteriorating quickly, or not playing properly. I personally havent had any issues – but of course I’ve only had it for 2 weeks. If a problem presents itself I will leave a review.

It’s very confusing when ratings are so different. Wanted so much to get our grandson a piccolo for his 8th grade graduation. He’s a brilliant flute player (along with so many other instruments) who wished for this. He was so surprised & excited. He plays his grandma’s flute so she was able to check it all over carefully. All the pads were as they should be. The keys all hit directly as they should. Pads may be a little dry but not needing immediate attention. Sound is great but in need of tuning, a bit flat. It has a good weight to it so it sets in the hand nicely. Happy with the black resin body with the silver mouth piece, stunning look. Looking forward to hearing our grandson play. It may not be an Armstrong but it is going to do for a rising instrumentalist. So glad we went with our instinct & gave it a chance. Our grandson got a great gift.

I have been playing flute for almost two years and have been wanting something new to play. The piccolo seemed fun, seeing as it is very similar to the flute so when I found this piccolo online, I immediately knew it would be great (and a heck of a lot cheaper than renting one for 40 bucks a month).
This piccolo has a great tone quality, and plays easily once you learn how to form the correct embouchure. It sounds amazing! The keys/pads are easy to press and seem like they will last a long time. It feels really well built, and does not seem like it would break to easily The black resin is beautiful, and definitely worth the extra ten dollars from a silver one.
So far I haven’t had any problems with my piccolo, and my band teacher and all my friends love it!
My only complaints would be that the case is very large, and the cleaning rod is too big to fit into the piccolo.
If you’re looking for something to play as a full time instrument, I would recommend getting a more expensive one, as I don’t think that this is meant for extreme use.
Overall I would say that this piccolo would be a great buy for beginners learning the piccolo, who don’t want to spend too much money.

This piccolo is excellent for it’s price. For around 100 dollars, it is a great deal. The piccolo did come with all of the things required; the zippered case, gloves, joint grease, strap, cleansing cloth, and rod. The case is good; the zipper is occasionally stuck, but after a second, it generally opens.
Onto the piccolo itself. The piccolo is superb The notes are fairly in tune if you pull the head piece out a little in the highest register. The lower register resonates extremely well and has a nice warm feeling to it. The middle register is good. Although the notes are slightly airy, I blame it on my skills and my embouchure because I am still accustomed to the flute, which has a much wider embouchure. The highest register is good as well. If the head piece is fully in, the notes are about 70 cents off tune. On a tuner, if I were to play an G natural in the highest register, the G would come out as an flat Ab. However, to solve this problem, I just pull the head piece out so that a little of the cork is showing and adjust the embouchure so that both the lower and the higher registers are on tune.
Generally, I am pleased with this purchase. It hasn’t fallen apart yet, nor are any of the pads leaking so far. While not as warm sounding as the grenadilla piccolos (I play in an orchestra and band), the resin body is perfect for people in both concert bands and marching bands because of its durability and its “loudness”.
