This item is absurdly small. Maybe good for a toddler to play with in a dollhouse.
It is not deep, or large enough to make even one serving, forget about two. Left wondering, whoever manufactured this must be tiny human beings. The handles are not even large enough for an adult to even get a grip on, let alone scrape ICED cream off a frozen surface.
Also, came scratched and dented. Frustrating waste of time!

For Christmas I got a KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker attachment. It’s $$$$ expensive. You put it in the freezer overnight then the next day attach it to the mixer, add your liquid ice cream mix, churn for 24 minutes, then scoop the soft ice cream and then freeze for 2 hours and serve. When you want ice cream and have to wait forever, it’s no fun. Especially with kiddos.
With this INSTANT ice cream, you get instant ice cream. You can use the exact same ice cream recipe for an electric or churn ice cream maker and leave this “tray” in the freezer overnight. Next day you add the liquid ice cream mix, leave it for about 3 minutes and if freezes from the bottom up, and you have ice cream right then. You can cut out 2.5 hours. That’s fantastic!
The whole thing is a stainless-steel tray that is so cold it will freeze in a few minutes what you put in it. They give you two white short spatulas (ideal) to scrape the ice cream out of the tray and eat. You could “plow” from one end of the rectangular tray to the other end and serve “rolled” ice cream to wow the kids. Or layer a flat section of the ice cream on a brownie. This ice cream maker at $19.99 is an amazing deal!
I just found a recipe and I love that I can cut down on the sugar and it took me about 4 minutes to whisk and pour. Here’s the recipe for vanilla ice cream:
1 3/4 C heavy cream
1 1/2 C whole milk
3/4 C sugar (but I did 1/2 C)
1/8 t fine salt
1-2 T vanilla extract
Whisk and pour into the ice cream maker and don’t fill past the stainless-steel lip.
What I discovered/experimented with is once you scrape out the first batch of ice cream, go again! Fill it up with liquid ice cream mix and it will freeze the next batch! Each batch serves 2-3 people so you can have seconds or serve 4-6 people. In fact, I left some ice cream in the tray for 1 hour out on the counter and it was still frozen!
Again, this is a fantastic product and so worth it. It takes up little room in the freezer–great idea on the manufacturer’s part. This is just the right size to serve 2-3 but not be enormous (like the KitchenAid which takes up an entire freezer shelf). I leave this one out to warm up to room temp before hand washing it and putting back in the freezer. Put it in a large bag to avoid smelling like the freezer.
I’ll be experimenting with frozen yogurt next. If you want to try fresh ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, etc.) or sorbet or yogurt, this product might just win your heart. And the kids loved the science aspect of watching it freeze before their eyes too!
