I now use the Myers feather pickup system exclusively (for my alto and concert flutes). I spent a long time researching the several different products available. Here are my reasons for purchasing the Myers.
    1. THE SOUND !! This pickup sounds incredible. Flat or with reverb, (or other effects) – the sound is clean, clear and natural.
    2. The weight. It is super light, so it doesn’t remind you that you have any extra weight attached the instrument.
    3. The flexible gooseneck. Great feature. I experimented and found the ideal placement for the mic and it stays there. If I need closer placement it is nothing more than a quick adjustment.
    4. The preamp is small and light. Perfect sized knob for volume adjustment. (easy to find while soloing)

I have owned a couple of other pickups over the years. About 25 or so years ago I had the Barcus Berry that took the place of the head joint cork . No thanks. So I settled on the standard microphone setup for a long time. However, too much air sound when too close and too much loss of quality when not close enough. This pickup is the best way to go. Another surprising plus was when I needed some tech info the owner of the company Greg Myers called me and we discussed the issue. WHAT ! I am happy I purchased this pickup. This is the way to go for you woodwind players.

Gregg Myers and his company are the best! Their customer service is wonderful and they worked with me until my issue was resolved! If I could give them 10 stars, I would!! I recently upgraded to the Feather-Duo system! The mic sounds great through my amp and it’s compatible with the Getaria wireless transmitter and receiver. This has taken my playing to another level! So glad I chose a Myers pickup!

This is hands down the BEST flute pick up I’ve ever used. It’s light, powerful, and the sound is clean and clear. I have used this pick up for more than 5 years and it’s done its job in delivering the best sound. I am a jazz flutist and I never have to worry about my sound being buried in the band or my tone being compromised. It’s so lightweight that I never have to worry about it sagging down my head joint and the installation has never damaged my expensive flute. Gregg, the inventor and owner of the company, was so helpful and kind over the phone when I had any questions or problems. I’m currently working on my live album release that I played my Myers pickups with. That’s how much I love the sound and quality of this pick up! 11/10. Please buy from Myers!

Pretty good , needed to up the gain and base to get rid of the harsh sound and hear the instrument . A little tricky to set up as the direction we’re a little unclear.

I love this pickup!I have the violin version. The preamp is small and easy to keep out of the way. The mic really has no weight and doesn’t affect the acoustic sound of the instrument. Most of all, it just really sounds great–warm and solid. One thing I had forgotten was how nice it is to play with a pickup, you don’t have to contort yourself leaning in to a mic. I should also mention I had a couple of questions and got them quickly answered by the company. Highly recommended!

I love these microphones. I bought one to use with my mandolin for bluegrass ensemble. It was extremely easy to install and easy to use (I clip on to the mandolin tailpiece). The sound is outstanding, much better than traditional pickups I have tried to use. Gives the true sound of microphone but can move freely around the stage and the sound stays consistent vs. moving in to play into a stage mic. I have not had any issues with feedback and we use wedge monitors in noisy bar rooms. I’m able to get the gain that I need direct into our powered mixer or through my Fishman Loudbox Mini and can hear myself just fine. I’ve turned my other bandmates on to this and one of the players is using the same mic for both his banjo and fiddle. He leaves a clip on each instrument and can switch the mic between instruments in less than one minute. Finally, the customer service is excpetional. I emailed a question to the company website on a Friday night and Gregg Myers, the founder and owner called me back within five minutes and answered all my questions.

This was bought principally for amplification of my flute playing.
Despite good support from the company, the product failed to meet my expectations and has been returned. Instructional videos were totally spoiled by being accompanied with unnecessary loud music and are “all over the place” on You tube. There is no “out of the box” instructional video covering the whole installation procedure from start to finish. .
Billed as complete out of the box plug and play and compatible with most wireless systems I found both statements incorrect. It is not bluetooth compatible , and as a result, a jack/xlr cable was needed which I had to purchase separately. I could not get any sound out of the product , despite changing the battery
( requiring a screwdriver and a nail to prise it out of its housing! ). I finally gave up when an instructional video started to talk about impedance issues…I am not an engineer. As others have noted, many flautists also play a variety of other instruments, so this system., even if it worked, is too cumbersome to swap onto another instrument during a set.

Well constructed, adaptable for a number of different flutes and flute-like instruments. Would have been nice to have more plastic clips included. Good sound. Flexible, so it can be placed where you want it.

I bought this flute microphone on Amazon over a year ago so I could run the output into a mixer shared with other band members. I had found that just using a standard mic on a mic stand meant my volume changed a lot as I moved around. I use a Boss WL-20L wireless transmitter plugged into the belt-mounted pre-amp supplied with the Myers mic with the Boss receiver plugged into the mixer. This works perfectly so I have complete ‘cable-less’ freedom and a consistent sound. Unfortunately after about 13 months the mic developed an intermittent crackling sound so I contacted Myers in the US about repairs (I live in the UK). I was absolutely delighted when Gregg Myers the CEO contacted me via email on the same day and instead offered to supply a free replacement! Sure enough this arrived from the US a couple of weeks later so I’m back in business. Exceptional customer service and I’m absolutely delighted.

I have been using a bridge pickup that clamps to my instrument, altering the tone of my violin while not plugged in. I have been searching for a clip on microphone to replace my bulky pickup and this one was recommend to me by a fellow musician. It arrived the day of a live show, so I didn’t have time to test it out and make adjustments but I was so impressed. I love being able to move a little while playing, so an instrument mic on a stand wasn’t an option either. The tone of this microphone is much more true to the tone and sound of my violin, compared to the tone of a pickup. The belt clip took a little getting used to (I have to remember to wear something with a pocket,) but I like having volume control at my hip as well as in my Baggs DI. If you are looking for a clip on microphone for your acoustic instrument I recommend this one. I am very impressed by the customer service of the company as well.
