NAKED Vanilla Whey Protein Powder

I love this protein powder! If you do not like the taste of typical protein powder—the “protein-y taste”—this is the protein powder for you. The vanilla flavor tastes just like melted vanilla ice cream, making it a delicious treat rather than a chore to consume. It blends smoothly with no chalky texture, which is a huge plus. I’ve tried many protein powders, and this one stands out not only for its taste but also for its high-quality ingredients and excellent nutritional profile. Whether I’m mixing it with water, milk, or adding it to smoothies, it consistently tastes amazing. If you’re looking for a protein powder that you’ll actually look forward to drinking, this is the one to try!

Really 4.5. First, some caveats. No matter how soluble or “easy mixing” a protein drink claims to be, I always use a blender. Manually shaking any powder will always make me gak. I use a “milk shake” capable blender, with ice crushing, so it has the consistency of a thick shake. I typically mix it with water and sometimes with milk.
The taste is ok, not good or bad, I hesitate to use the word bland; it can more accurately be described as subtle. No points taken off for this, since it is so subjective, and I have tasted other protein drinks that are terrible tasting. I like the fact that it has only a few ingredients, and does not have “natural and artificial” flavors as most of the other brands. Those brands rarely specify the exact “natural and artificial” flavors, so you never know what you get. To get it to taste better, I add a tablespoon of organic drinking chocolate. This gives it more flavor, and it goes from OK to very good tasting.
The big negative is the size and shape of the container. This led to a “get that ugly thing out of my kitchen” reaction, so I was constrained to keeping it in the garage or basement… unless… I decanted it into a more “girly” container. I chose to do this, and found out that there is no way to neatly transfer the powder to another more aesthetic container. The shape of the mouth, combined with the texture of the powder makes neat transfer impossible, even scoop by scoop, since there is always some spillage when taking it out, especially when down towards the bottom. There is no way to get deep down, even turning it on the side, and no way to use a funnel, too cakey. When transferring I used to get the “look at this mess you made” angry stare; I want to say that it is “your” fault for making me transfer the powder, but this would probably not be conducive to my long term happiness, so I wisely keep my mouth shut.
This led me to creating my own funnel, shown in the attached photos. I purchased some collapsing, wide mouth funnels from Amazon. I cut a hole in the cover of the protein drink, and glued the funnel on to the cover with food-grade adhesive. This worked well for a few days, until the glue gave out, causing quite a mess. So in iteration 2, I not only glued the funnel, but put a nut and bolt to hold it tight. Now I can transfer the powder without any mess. It has been solid for months now.
In conclusion, the only negative is the price and the shape of the container. They now have a smaller container, but the price is a lot more. The positives are an ok tasting product with natural, listed ingredients with no unspecified “natural and artificial” contents. Additionally, it supports small businesses.

I bought this item because of the simple ingredients. I wanted to avoid synthetic sweetners etc. And it is true to its word. But it does not mix well. Like my old protein powder I was able to mix it with room temperature water and itd mix right in and not get clumpy. Majority of this protein I feel like sticks the the sides of whatever I am using to drink with and clumps up no matter how much I mix. I have even used it with a blender and blending it did help but im not trying to use a blender every single time I want to have some of my protein powder. When I mix it to try and get the clumps out it also become frothy and its like drinking air? This protein powder is just too much money for it to be wasted by sticking to the sides of the glass, clumping so much, and becoming so frothy. I think if they got the product to mix in better they would have a 5 star protein powder. The simple ingredients are great and overall the taste is perfectly fine.

It’s not too sweet, so when drinking it with almond milk or whole milk, its just the right amount of sweetness. You don’t feel ‘icky’ after drinking this either.
Pro tip for smoother protein shakes, no matter the powder: use a magic bullet blender or the equivalent of one.
I never use a blender bottle no matter what protein powder I use. So I drink some almond milk with 2 scoops and blend it in a magic bullet. It’s really, really good. My wife never loves protein shakes and she loves this one.
I really don’t know why this product has 4 stars when looking at my own experience with it.
Maybe some people are used to eating a cupcake’s worth of fake sugar in their protein shake (which protein shakes are supposed to help you achieve HEALTH) so they don’t like it because there’s not as much sweetness? I don’t know.
You should try it if you can afford it.

There is not too much to say about this product because the ingredients are so simple. The vanilla flavor is fantastic, and I use it to mix into my family’s shakes, Yogurt, and Oatmeal on a weekly basis. It’s nice to be able to put in that extra protein without having to worry about the ingredients and impact.

On a personal note, I did not like the Chocolate flavor nearly as much as the Vanilla. The Chocolate didn’t have as good a taste and seemed to not want to mix well (it stayed clumpy when I tried shaking it in a standard Blender Bottle).

I hated this powder when I first tried it, but now I love it. My first impression of the powder mixed with soy milk was that the liquid was very thin, watery tasting, and lacked a good chocolate taste. I used a good shaker to mix the powder, but it was very gritty. The powder I have been using mixes extremely easily and is ready to go immediately. So I expected the same from this powder, but I hated it when I first tasted it. I let it sit in the refrigerator for a few hours and went back to try to drink some more of it, and I was very surprised at how much it had changed. It tasted much better and was nice and smooth, even frothy. I don’t know why it changed that much with sitting, but I am delighted to not have to throw away the 5lb tub that I bought.

One thing I liked right away is the very short list of ingredients, and all pretty good for the body. I really appreciate that it does not contain any artificial sweeteners, as I won’t buy anything with those in them. I also do not like stevia’s after taste. This drink does not have any bad after taste, and it is just the right amount of mild sweetness. Most powders are too sweet, and this one is just right.
