Norelco Multigroomer All-in-One Trimmer MG5750/49

I’d almost given up on Philips Norelco trimmers. One thing I – and others – have complained about with their grooming devices and clippers has been the flimsy guards that were poorly designed. Both inexpensive and premium models were prone to bending with pressure and providing a less than consistent result. Finally the folks at Norelco have learned their lesson. The Groomsman 5000 comes with a very solid set of guards comparable to those found on typical hair clippers. The only complaint is the selection of lengths, which I’ll address next.

I’m pleased with the included attachments. The beard trimming blades work fine, but I use the regular hair clipper blades to trim my beard as the only guard the gives the right length fits that particular attachment. It’s not much of an issue as both attachments perform about the same. The detail blades are good for getting into tight spots like under the nose and around ears. Speaking of nose, the nose and ear trimmer is solidly built so hopefully it will hold up better than other nose hair trimmers I’ve had. Unfortunately, that build may be one reason it can be difficult getting the hairs. The thicker metal means the blades aren’t as close to the surface. In the past I used another Norelco trimmer made just for the nose and ears, and it cut incredibly close and was very effective. That model also broke very easily, and I went through three in less than a year. The jury’s out on whether I’ll continue to use this trimmer for that job or give up and buy a fourth soon-to-be-broken nose hair trimmer. The ability to rinse the attachments under water is a big convenience, as is the ease of changing them out. I’ll still occasionally disinfect them with Clippercide spray, but for general cleanup rinsing (and drying) works fine.

As for power, this trimmer is sufficient for my needs. It’s certainly more powerful than my old Norelco with a rechargeable NiCad battery (and crappy guards). It also charges faster and lasts longer on a charge. Normally I use full size Wahl hair clippers to buzz my head close, but I decided to try doing so with this. Surprisingly it did a decent job. I had to go over spots a bit slower and more times, but the result looked good and the bare blades were gentle on my scalp. Don’t expect the results or ease of cutting you’d get from corded or expensive cordless clippers, but it will cut. If I’m traveling I’ll likely leave my big Wahl clippers at home and rely on these trimmers to do it all. The unit is also more than powerful enough for body grooming.

My only major gripe is the lack of a charging indicator. It’s impossible to know when the trimmer needs to be charged or is finished charging. It shortens lithium-ion battery life to drain them to empty repeatedly or to always charge them to 100 percent. I use them every day and about once a week I plug them in for about thirty minutes. That way the battery averages somewhere in the middle of its charge. If you’re not as concerned with optimizing the lifespan of the battery I’d recommend just plugging it in for an hour after every few uses. It should be ok to leave it charging overnight occasionally as well.
All in all, I’d definitely recommend this trimmer.

I have owned other Philips Norelco products before and they work ok, as well as other brands of trimmers and clippers, both wired and wireless. But this one just feels right from the get-go. Keep in mind I only had a few days using it, but I immediately fell in love. I am a person who grows THICK and coarse hair, and I have broken a few machines before as well as many machines that do not last long cutting my hair. when I cut my hair I have to go slow or else my hair will jam the teeth of the blade and pull my hair out, and it is painful, and since I cut my hair short or something bald-ish it takes about 55-90+ minutes to cut my hair. Before I started using this Norelco I was using both Conair hair clippers and as well as a Remington and that is how long it takes with those machines to cut my nasty, ugly as hair. But once I received this machine through the mail I charged it and once it was fully charged I went to my bathroom and started cutting, and I got to tell you this thing works surprisingly incredible, I cut my hair from 3.5 inches to bald in 20-35 minutes using the wide blade, it worked fast even though I was going pretty slow in case my hair jammed the teeth in the blade. I am impresst with his device, although caution if you press the moving part of the blade teeth anywhere on your skin it will shred it off, while I was shaving I was working on my mustache area going down and I accidentally nicked my lip and I rip my lip skin off and I started bleeding so careful. In conclusion, 11/10 would recommend it, will update if anything happens since it is only been a few days I bought it

The Norelco Multigroomer is an incredible addition to my grooming routine. It comes with multiple attachments, so I can easily switch from trimming my beard to detailing around my hairline or even managing body hair. The blades are sharp, and they provide a clean, even cut without any pulling or irritation.

The battery life is impressive—I only need to charge it once a week, even with regular use. Plus, it’s easy to clean under running water, which is a big bonus. It feels sturdy and well-made, definitely worth the investment if you’re looking for an all-in-one groomer. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a versatile tool to simplify their grooming routine!

I have had facial hair since my 20s and I’m now in my 60s. Just got this little trimmer a few months ago and I was immediately amazed. It holds a charge forever and can do everything from beard and mustache trimming to a full haircut. I literally use this thing every day. It even trims those mutant hairs that grow faster than the others on your head and face so you always look neat and trimmed. Works great on sideburns as well. No more standing by the mirror and trimming wild hairs. Just pull out this baby any your done in seconds. Great for manscaping too!

Wow, these have come a long way since my last Philips beard trimmer from over a decade ago. USB charging, hours of battery life, much quieter, much more complete cuts, feels more powerful. I honestly don’t know why anyone would spend more for the higher-end models. There’s nothing I wish was different, and you really don’t need 1000 attachments.
