Major design flaw! Having those cute little side pockets means that you have to keep their strap fastened in front. If not, they flop out, leaving you looking like Buzz Lightyear about to take flight. Also, if you are larger than about 32-34 inch waiste, the pockets end up too far back to be accessible. We tried fastening them between the bag and my son’s back, but we were unable to do that, and that would defeat the purpose of having the pockets anyway. An improvement would be to make the pockets adjustable along the strap for people of different sizes, and make them removable for when you don’t want to fasten the strap in front.

Ordered this item before an international trip to South America and got a ton of use out of it. Love that it’s adjustable so I can pull straps into exactly where I want the bag to sit on my body. Lots of storage room and pockets. I appreciate the padding. It’s lightweight so easy to carry, and bright orange so hard to lose.

The company got this backpack to me in a day, so I strive to provide a review in a very timely fashion also. I have not yet used this backpack for hiking or camping, but I have examined it and compared it with other backpacks I have owned.
This is a well-made product. All the zippers work well. There are many pockets for organization. I will not list all of the details mentioned in the ad, but I will mention a few details that I did not see in their write up, as there are great features they do not advertise.
The supportive hip belt has two pockets on the side to front that facilitate accessing items during a hike without taking off the backpack. I need quick access to items such as Kleenex, lipbalm, my sunglasses (there is also a place to hook sunglasses on the shoulder straps), maybe a cell phone, all of which fit in these two little pouches. I’ve included a picture of me wearing the backpack, using one of the pockets for a passport and a smart phone, both of which fit and the pocket can be zipped closed. Which leads to my next point: can this be used as a carry-on backpack suitcase for an airplane? I believe that it could, if you don’t overstuff it. Check your airline’s carry-on dimensions and measure after you pack it. It is soft, so if not too full it could fit into the carry-on baggage sizer. While wearing his backpack, you can keep your valuables right where you can see and reach them, in the belt pockets, without having to wear another bag.
There are many hoops for clipping things on, the mesh side pockets can hold bottles, although they point out that there is an access for a long straw to a water bladder, not included.
The shoulder straps, belt, and back are well padded.
The straps and belt are very adjustable. I have had difficulties tightening some other backpacks enough for my frame. I am a 5’ 6” tall female and I wear a size small, US women’s size 4. I am not unusually slender, yet other bags can not be secured enough, the shoulder straps can not be shortened enough, to keep it snug to my body- this bag fits me, with enough adjustability that I think it could fit a much larger person well, also. The bag is lightweight yet sturdy.
I have included a photograph of the zip pocket containing the rain cover at the base of the back.
This backpack clearly was designed thoughtfully with attention to detail. It is a quality item and a great value.

While not an avid hiker, I have made trips into the high Sierras, done Mt. Whitney, and some other multi-day trips. I have used some pretty high quality equipment (mostly provided by friends) that comes at a pretty high price. I gave this backpack 5 stars in part because of the value. Yes, there are much more expensive backpacks and yes, they are absolutely better. I don’t have a high quality pack at this time to do a side-by-side comparison, but the really good packs are just stronger and sturdier feeling, somehow without being heavy, and are truly waterproof, and some are bigger/hold more. Also, they seem to have more involved features that keep the bulk of the weight of the pack on your hips and not your shoulders and back, which is really important if you’re going to carry a lot of weight for a long time. But that kind of pack costs double or triple what this one does, and you can easily spend even more than that. For almost any day trip, I would feel totally comfortable with this. I am doing Sykes trail in Big Sur this summer, which is 10 miles in with approximately 1000 feet of elevation gain overall (up and down and up and down) and I plan to stay 2 nights, and I feel very good about using this pack for it (though I will say, that’s about as much as I would take on with out a more serious pack). It’s lightweight enough, and it’s 50L, and it can hold the tent, sleeping pad, stove, water filter, sleeping bag, and a dozen or so small items. I probably can’t also easily fit cookware but don’t need it for a short trip. If you’re an experienced backpacker planning a serious expedition, you probably aren’t even reading this because you already have some serious equipment, but if you’re anything like me–these days just doing some fairly leisurely hikes to do a day or 2 of camping, this feels like a great option. It’s got a lot of convenient pockets, sits pretty comfortably on the back, and feels tough enough to last several trips like the one I have upcoming. I’m a little skeptical of it’s “waterproof”ness, but at the level of hiking I’m up for, forecasted heavy rain spells cancelation for me anyway.

bought this one it was 2 days delivery. we were going to 2 hour hike in rain . it said waterproof and I didnt use cover and everting was wet inside by time we reached camp. good thing I listen t mom and placed extra clothing in ziplock. I should have used cover but rain was not heavy . why advertised as waterproof. one is not without cover. disappointed
