I read about it and it said it was a popular musical toy in Japan. And also said it was similar to a theremin. It is cute and clever but the volume is a bit low. I would like the volume to be a bit louder. I did put in new batteries but still would like a louder volume. Have to practice and play but thanks

  2. Not what I expected. The tummy control band could have use better material. Fabric is thin and cheap.

My son was exposed to this content online sap he begged me to get one. Never again. It’s has this obnoxious sound! worse than a air horn’! It’s not easy to play. It seems as tho kids play it like a piano/guitar. Well it’s none of that. It’s digital and it doesn’t work most of the time when you press the notes. The exterior part of the instrument i has a plastic face. Well little did I kno it’s removable and kids will lose it 😂 As a mother I should kno better. I give it two becausey som was happy he got it out of his system And experienced it.

I stumbled upon this by chance and bought it to entertain the kiddies at a holiday visit. I thought it was so neat that I tried it out myself but found it to be really small and that I couldn’t work it too well, but it quickly became evident that the difficulty was with my larger fingers of my adult size hands that barely fit on its tiny fret board because when put it in the much smaller hands of my ten year old niece, she instantly took to it, could play it much better and liked it a lot. Although it still seems more like a toy than an instrument, I like that it was unique and cute enough to keep her and her younger sister entertained for a bit and that it gave them something to play with that stimulates some kind of artistic creativity.

To me the sounds it produces are a little annoying, but the kids seem to like it. If I had to guess, the average age range for this is probably between 7 and 11 (I say this because my 6-year-old wasn’t nearly as interested as my 10-year-old) and that’s just basing it on the size factor of how the larger your hands and fingers are, the harder it’ll be to use (but still have to be large enough). Any older and especially for adults, I’d say that the larger more expensive deluxe model would probably be much better and that I myself am interested in trying out and might order soon.

I recommend it because it’s cute, unique, affordable and that it did make a great gift for my 10 year old niece.

First and foremost, the design is nothing short of adorable. Shaped like a musical note with a cute face and a sliding mouth, the Otomatone is as much a visual delight as it is an auditory one. It’s the kind of instrument that brings a smile to your face before you even start playing.

Playing the Otomatone is an experience in itself. The sliding stem, which serves as the pitch control, allows for a wide range of notes. It takes a bit of practice to master, but that learning curve is part of the fun. The sound produced is surprisingly expressive, and with a bit of experimentation, you can mimic various instruments or create entirely unique tones.

The Otomatone’s compact size adds to its appeal. It’s portable enough to take anywhere, turning any environment into a potential impromptu performance space. The battery life is impressive, providing hours of musical exploration before needing a refresh.

One thing that pleasantly surprised me was the durability of the Otomatone. Despite its whimsical appearance, it feels well-built and capable of withstanding the playful handling it’s likely to encounter. The quality of materials used adds a layer of longevity that is reassuring, especially for an instrument that invites experimentation.

While the Otomatone may not be the go-to choice for serious musicians, it excels in its ability to bring joy and creativity to music enthusiasts of all levels. It’s a fantastic gift for both children and adults, and it’s the perfect conversation starter for any gathering.

We got this for our son for Christmas this last year. It was fun while it worked and you can play a wide range of things with it. It is delicate and can not take the rigors of being with a child of 8 years old

    Well, my daughter love it.
When I picked it up with my own hands, I noticed what others reported: you have to press real hard on the “scale” and that is bad; maybe a softer conductive foam underneat but something needs to be addressed there.
Also the scale was not perfectly glued – looks just tape were the corners are the first to go.
But overal, a fun piece to play with (pun intended) but practice first with a good song and the impact will be an explosion of amazement.

Un instrumento simpático hecho para niños pero sin duda los adultos también pueden pasar un rato tratando de sacar alguna canción sin notas solo utilizando su oído… primera vez que lo tengo así que veremos qué tan divertido es usarlo
