This mixer attachment should definitely get a name change. It’s definitely not the attachment for making ice cream like the popular mixer brand sells. This is essentially a frozen fruit masher that will give you a sorbet type dessert. Freeze your fruit, push through attachment. Done. A blender could do the same btw. I’m not overly impressed to be honest. I do like how easy clean up was. And if sorbet using your mixer is your thing, it’s a great buy. But don’t think for a second that this will provide you any ways to make actual ice cream.

It’s not an ice cream maker, it’s a fruity mess! This kitchen aid attachment was easy to assemble, attach, and clean since it’s dishwasher-safe. Though doesn’t come with a cleaning brush. Oh and it’s definitely not an ice cream maker! The recipe book is cute, but this is undoubtedly for making fruit smoothies, not ice cream. I tried using frozen fruit but it got stuck and barely wanted to pass through the nozzle. Know you’ll have to chop the fruit into small pieces (how fun! 🙄). Or let the fruit thaw (for a “frozen” fruit maker btw). Milk barely helped the fruit pass, it just got all over the counter and fruit burst out the sides of the spout! Plus the opening is small, so it would take forever to make a decent sized smoothie (that’s actually blended). So this is basically a very narrow and short blender that fits on a Kitchen Aid. If you want a smoothie, get yourself a real blender for hilariously the same price! Overall, not my favorite kitchen gadget, maybe I’ll figure out another use. I won’t be using it anytime soon.
Update: Customer service quickly reached out to me and to amend my dissatisfaction about the product. They were very attentive! They provided a very helpful tip too, put on the SEALING RING to prevent the smoothie from leaking out on the sides!!!
I stand by original review, as in this product is just not for me. The misleading item description, “ice cream maker”, needs to be changed to help prevent confusion for future customers! But hopefully I can help others properly use it for a better experience, so this item can be a fun kitchen gadget as it was intended to be!

I tried it with medium sized, cut up, half-way frozen fruit. Even if you push down, it really doesn’t come out smooth like the photos. It also has plastic pieces and it seems like it may break if you push down too hard. I think you would have to dice up the fruit really small for it to work; (if it does at all) and by the time you did that, you would have done too much work! My husband suggested that it would be better just to put the frozen fruit in the food processor or blender. I did try a completely thawed banana and it turned out just a gooey mush. I gave it a two star because it did actually fit in my Kitchenaid mixer and was easy to clean.

I’m really getting the hang of this and have used it several times, it’s definitely a family favorite! I’ve learned to thaw strawberries and most fruit for 20 min, then it’s easier to use! I added dark chocolate chips with the fruit! Yummy! Watermelon got stuck, should have thawed for 10 min. Frozen Kiwi with graham crackers infused was outstanding. Keep practicing. The fruit Sorbert is delicious! Worth the purchase!

I dislike that it was advertised as an ice cream maker. That being said…, you can put ice cream in it and turn it into SoftServe, with berries, fruit, etc. mixed in. Just follow the instructions for using as the items need to be thawed some before using.
What I really like about this over a blender is that it comes out in the shape of the ice cream machines. Kids love it especially.
The recipe book that comes with it is useful and provides ideas that I hadn’t thought of before.
