Make sure you get the model that has the HDMI out as well as RCA cable connection (S700). A couple of things:
1. ONLY use the open/close button for the door–DO NOT push the door with your fingers. It’s not sturdy enough for that.
2. ONLY remove a DVD by placing your finger in the DVD hole. The drawer does not have cutouts on the side for your fingers and you could break the mechanism.
3. I have the RCA cables hooked to my receiver and the HDMI cord hooked to my TV. The RCA cables fit VERY tight–make sure they are pushed in snugly or you will have problems with sound/picture. If you’re having trouble with picture or sound, the first thing I would suggest is check to make sure the RCA Red/White/Yellow connections are pushed in all the way.
4. I would highly recommend only adults use this DVD player–it’s not sturdy enough for kids or others that don’t take special care when using electronics.
5. MAKE SURE you read in the manual how to get to the settings. Some will need changing. On mine, the factory setting for picture size was set to 4×3 (for old square TVs) rather than 16×9 (newer recantangular TVs)
6. The remote is very compact/small with lots of close-together buttons. If you’re older, you’re probably going to have to hold it very close to choose what you want to do.
7. I’ve thrown all kinds of media at it–store bought DVDs, home-burned DVD-R and DVD+R. No problems with any of them. I have not tried using it to play CDs so I can’t speak to that.
8. It’s a nice, compact unit and light weight. I’d make sure it’s not sitting too close to the edge of where you put it–I don’t think it would survive any kind of fall.
9. It came with an RCA cable (Red/White/Yellow) but NOT an HDMI cord so you’ll need to get a cheap one of those. The batteries are included for the remote.
10. Picture quality on my TV is excellent. Sound through the receiver is excellent as well.

I love this DVD player! Weirdly it comes with RCA cables, but maybe they figure that people buying an old school player have a TV from 1998 and there. Iโd imagine they could save some money and scrap by just not including a cable and letting people buy the cable on their own. So I used my own HDMI cable.
This is a reasonably modern player, and has no problems playing all my DVDs. It can also play media on a USB stick but I havenโt tried that. Comes with a pretty standard remote. Supports CEC. There is nothing not to LOVE, so I recommend it to everyone who wants a reasonably decent player for a good price!!!

Happy with this. It’s hard to find just a good basic DVD player anymore and the price is right. Works well and is simple–no unnecessary or complicated features that add nothing of value. Like the remote too.

I was looking for a DVD player that would play old DVD’s and ones I had burned years ago. My new Sony BlueRay player would not play them. Took a chance on this player and IT WORKED PERFECTLY … love that it has a HDMI output. Very satisfied and for recommend this unit.

Un buen producto a precio accesible y el respaldo de la marca PANASONIC. Muy recomendable y con la opciรณn de conectarlo con los cables RCA asรญ como el HDMI. En otros aparatos no es posible esta variante.
Recomendable 100%

Great little player, it did not require any “installing”, I found it to be a simple plug and play unit.
I use it connected to a Denon AVR and use it for both DVD,s and CD,s

Nice! Delivery in 17 hours, set up was as simple as plugging it in, and it serves its purpose well. Included in the package is one of those composite audio-visual cables with the red, yellow, and white single prong connectors, but an HDMI cable was not included – so I used a spare HDMI and it works just fine.

This Panasonic is a very good basic DVD player. I purchased this one specifically because it is able to upscale the output so I can use it with a newer television. I have this connected to a 42″ Panasonic plasma television and older standard definition DVDs look pretty good considering this is a large digital display. The quality is not as good as streaming from high-speed internet or satellite service but considering the limitation of standard def DVD’s I am very satisfied. The player itself doesn’t feel very substantial. Its small and very light and the front controls are very limited with small flimsy feeling buttons. It much easier to control using the remote than at the actual unit. I have a much older Panasonic DVD player that is twice the size, three times the weight and feels substantial and has large useable buttons on the front face for most of the major controls. So, comparing the new one to the older one it definitely feels like a budget unit and not as well built and solid but in all fairness back in the day the older unit was over $300. Still this new Panasonic DVD player does its basic job very well and is especially worth considering if you have other Panasonic equipment. I found my Panasonic plasma tv remote can also control the basic function of this new DVD player even though the TV is over 15 years old.
