When connecting air stone, make sure to bevel hole that the air stone goes through before connecting hose. That way, air stone fits tightly into filter tub or your going to get air burps. I used a steak knife and did circular passes into hole, shaving away a little of the plastic. I have to say it works pretty well. There is an adapter to use for the air hose to control the air flow. Make sure you cut the hose in desirable area to install that. Perfect for what I wanted out of this purchase.

This is a great idea for a bowl or large jar for a betta however it needs improvement. I couldn’t stop the water burp bubbles coming out from odd places and the air ston is too big for this to work smoothly. Even turning it low there is still too much bubble force coming out and it still burps away. The plastic foundation is so flimsy which makes a nice break a way to change fit into a bowl but it also makes it breakaway while trying to get the tube for air stone to fit in place. Fish was not happy with it at all. I found it awful and done with the struggle. Getting something else and not using this again.

Just couldn’t find a way of getting information regarding the product after sales. The specifications do not tell you whether the air pump is US voltage, and also watts.I haven’t tried the unit yet as I haven’t been able to see it as I am away from home. Hopefully the vendor will give me this info and so will see if I require a step down transformer for use in Australia. Once I get this info and use it , I shall most definitely upgrade the review to a 5 Star….as it comes across as a good product. I have now installed it. The plastic filter came broken in two pieces, which shouldn’t have been the case. I did have to purchase a step down transformer as you can see in the picture. It would have saved me a great deal of time and guessing if the useful specifications were given. The product itself seems excellent, apart from it coming broken. The fish are happy!!!

Perfect for my betta vase habitat. Kit has all that’s needed to set up and have filtered water in a small bowl habitat. Have bought several and will again.

I usually don’t do reviews on a product right after I get it. This time I thing it is appropriate to do so this early.
First of all the idea is great, and welcome, however there is a really big flow. The big flow is the air stone that it’s include in the product. It is too big, because of the the size and the position it needs to be, the air does not properly pass trough the filter and some escape on the bottom of the stand, in the stand the air gets trap making a really big bobble. When the bobble gets release it makes a cracking sound, and that is what scares the fish, right now my fish is recovering from over stress, in A different tank. The big bobble may not be a problem if you have sand and you put the filter’s stand under the gravel.
I would have given a full 5 starts if it did not scared my fish close to dead. For now I just give 3, my original score would be 2.5. This may go up if the issue with the air stone gets fixed.

The filter was too high for my frog bowl but I managed to fix it so it works just fine and is shorter. Does the job it’s supposed to and my little froggies got used to the bubbles very quickly. The little motor that pumps the air into the filter isn’t very loud. Once my tv or music is on, even at a fairly low volume, I can’t hear it making noise.

Perused the reviews; some are happy some are not. I’m happy.
I’m into other things now but for many years I was heavy and seriously into the hobby and I know my stuff so there’s that. My sister decided she wanted fish so she bought a ten-gallon bowl and two nice lion-head golds. Long story short; she knows nothing and fancies her fish as potted plants or Christmas ornaments so I’m coaching her and the first thing I did was grab an inexpensive under-gravel filter and pump; I figured even if it only lasted for a week or two it would keep the fishies going until I could set her up with something better. Well, this filter and primo little pump is doing the job just fine. This primo little pump is as quiet as any other I’ve ever owned and it’s perfect for this situation. The goldies are happy and growing, the bowl looks cool and clean and my sister split for the summer so their in my care now.
All I can tell you is what I’ve experienced and so far, so good. I would absolutely buy this kit again, yes. Not everyone agrees with me and I get that; I’ve bought a few turkeys on Amazon myself. Five stars. I didn’t expect this but it’s the truth.

This filter has to be cut away to fit the 1 gallon fish bowl. It is somewhat difficult to assemble for it to sit flush on the bottom of the bowl after it has been cut to fit the 1 gallon. The design for assembling the hose and air stone is not very good. Once I finally got it together, it is functioning nicely, but has an occasional burp even when the air flow is turned very low. You can purchase replacement filter cartridges for it. The Lee’s brand is definitely better bc the design has the air attaching on top of the filter, therefore it sits flush on the bottom of the bowl. Also, with the Lee’s brand you can open the cartridge and replace the filter media as necessary. I will use this one until I need to replace the filter and then I will replace it with the Lee’s brand and keep this one for a spare back up.
