So I have had this for awhile and noticed that our birds do not use it… I have moved it around and even swapped it out for a feeder that the birds were on… unfortunately to late to return so I will use it as outdoor decor. It is sturdy and well made.

Not squirrel proof. Feeder rusted with in a few years use. In order to squirrel proof this, you have to make sure the feeder is locked and grease to top with vaseline to cause the squirrel to fall off (don’t worry, squirrels can fall from a hundred feet and survive). In short it is pretty, but it stops the morning doves from being able to eat from it. I also recommend coating it with a rust proofing spray to stop the feeder from rusting or take it inside when it rains.

These are excellent bird feeders. They somewhat prevent squirrels from stealing seeds, but almost nothing works on squirrels unless you’re willing to go the lethal route.
The bird feeder is well made and easy to fill. It holds a lot of seed! Cardinals and wrens seem obsessed with this feeder and I think the red color helps with attracting them. This is an item that can easily be damaged in transit so don’t be disappointed if you have to buy this a few times to find one that’s undamaged.

This is my second time purchasing this particular bird house. The first one lasted roughly 10 years before it rusted out (the metal tube in the inside of the house that sits on the plastic base on the pole).
I first bought a plastic bird house but the seeds would just blow out of the plate part. I broke down and spent twice the amount on this feeder vs the plastic one. The metal doesn’t seem quite as heavy duty as the original one I had. BUT, it works great and wish I would’ve just bought this again rather than wasting $17 on the plastic one that didn’t work.

Love this feeder! The set up, or assembly was super easy. It is well made, sturdy and, so far, squirrel proof. It is actually quite entertaining to watch the squirrels try to get at the sunflower seed! This feeder holds a substantial amount of seed, so you aren’t filling daily. Plus, it’s so cute! I would highly recommend!

Beautiful bird feeder! Easy to fill, with a locking roof that so far squirrels and raccoons have not been able to open🤞🏻! Birds love it. Very well made, holds a lot of seeds, easy to clean. I bought one for my neighbor and he’s just as pleased.
One issue… animals were able to disengage lever that closes access to the seeds when a certain weight is on the landing bar. The lever is adjustable… I try to keep it to lightest weight due to number of squirrels… and raccoons also— if I forget to bring feeder in early enough. That setting makes it harder for the heavier blue jays, flickers, and woodpeckers … but I offer them a suet or seed cake separately. I finally got a plastic covered wire and wrapped it around to hold lever to notch I’d chosen. This works very well to keep bigger animals from feasting on the seeds and quickly emptying the feeder! Baby squirrels still get access, larger ones find ways to hang from roof to avoid stepping on lever… but still, can’t easily get the seeds so holding the lever catch in highest notch with wire seems to eliminate enough access that the animals get discouraged, can’t empty the feeder as they did when they could disengage the lever. All in all… highly recommend this feeder! It’s a bit costlier than many, but totally worth it— esp if you have a lot of squirrels etc around…. And it’s so. Ice looking!
PS At night I store feeders in a waterproof plastic bin ( Plano brand), latches tight —raccoons can’t get lid open, but seems they’ve been trying & have now nearly chewed through heavy plastic by the latches trying to get in! Ah well! Raccoons are the biggest issue because they will scratch at the feeder, chew on the landing bar trying to get past it and scratched, chipped the paint on former model I had. Spray paint fixed that but now I just take feeders down at night. Ongoing battle. Hope you don’t have same problem… but if so, recommend taking feeder down. Big pain… but🤷🏻♀️big pleasure watching all the birds!

Finally have won this battle of man verses squirrel. Managed to attract some new birds and it is pretty dang cute to boot

We are totally impressed with this feeders quality, capacity and appearance. It provides a lack of ability for party crashing squirrels. All types of birds are flocking in, they’re relaxed and don’t rush off due to threats or intimidation. Worth every cent 🙂

I’m very impressed with the construction of this feeder. Solid. Metal. It’s not flimsy. Adjustable if you want to deter certain birds. Can be mounted on a pole or hung. It’s all metal. Seems to be well-designed. I can’t wait to test it out. Beautiful quality metal feeder with a substantial capacity. It looks like it will be easy to clean and hopefully squirrel proof.

This is the first squirrel proof bird feeder we can recommend. We have purchased lots of others saying they were squirrel proof but our squirrels managed to shake / bite and thus get to the bird seed. I saw this online in USA and was most happy to see we could buy the exact same type in the UK.
We have watched the squirrels try all sorts of ways to get the seeds – biting – swinging upside down – going different ways to no avail. They are still trying and top marks for their tenacity.
We have separated (by the use of cardboard) the inside of middle section and so have put in sunflower seeds, peanut bits and worms.
It took a couple of weeks for the birds to adjust to this new feeder. Now we see tits & robins use the feeder. Less frequently we have seen the sparrows go to the middle section for the worms but mainly they gather the seeds from the ground. Though they go to the feeders in the front garden all through the day.
Hopefully the sparrows will use this new feeder regularly.
Highly recommend this bird feeder – looks great – bought the poles – good value.
Recommend that the manufacturer divides the internal compartments into three so birds go to their preferred section.

The Perky-Pet 338 Squirrel-Be-Gone II Country House Bird Feeder truly lives up to its name—it really works! I’ve tried various bird feeders in the past, but this one is by far the most effective at keeping squirrels at bay. The design is ingenious, making it virtually impossible for squirrels to access the bird seed.
I love watching the birds visit without the constant interruption of squirrels trying to raid the feeder. The country house design is charming and fits well in my backyard décor.
If you’re looking for a bird feeder that is hated by squirrels and loved by birds, look no further than the Perky-Pet 338 Squirrel-Be-Gone II. Highly recommended!
