I thought it would beep – it kind of hisses? Stopped my really barky dog with out a shock feature so a win is a win

This collar is useful for training dogs against barking; however, it does not recognize nor trigger to howling, which can be a nuisance if your dog figures this out and doesn’t help when you live in an apartment and need your pet quiet while you’re gone

It just didnβt work. It went off twice – both times my dog wasnβt barking. Heβs a big dog and his barks are pretty loud and clear so I was surprised that it wasnβt picking up on his barking at all. I followed the instructions to fit it and place it in the right position, as well as doing the test to make sure it was working – and no improvement.

PetSafe Audible Bark Dog Collar with Soundburst technology is made in Vietnam and is a very good option for some dogs. Itβs rechargeable and fully adjustable to size.
This collar is effective at getting a dogβs attention. Unlike the collars that emit a sharp beep when a dog barks, this one has a whooshing sound that gets a startled βWhat was that ?β reaction from the dog wearing the collar. The other dogs seem fairly oblivious to it, unlike the beeping collars which tend to upset all of them.
One of my rescued dogs, a 13 pound girl, is both scared of strangers and protective of her family. A stranger to her is anyone outside of her immediate pack. She doesnβt trust strangers and will bark continually at anyone who comes too close to her home or family members. This frequently gets my other dogs barking too and the cacophony of noise makes it impossible to hear or talk. I have tried everything over the years including a highly recommended professional trainer but nothing worked. This humane bark collar does.
One of the reasons that I think this is so effective is that my dogs wear harnesses but never wear collars. For a dog that is not used to a collar, having this around the neck is a strange sensation. It doesnβt take very long for a dog to associate the collar noise with barking. I donβt even have to always turn it on. As soon as I put it around her neck, she quietly sits next to me. I rarely need to use it, but it is invaluable when I have maintenance people, etc. in my home.
I do recommend this PetSafe collar for barking problems. It works well and I think it may be the option that helps keep some problem dogs from ending up in rescue or worse.

It literally makes a SHHHHHHHH noise which scares my dog a few times but then stopped working. It’s my fault I bought it without realizing. I thought the audible meant that it listens to your dog not just relying on vibration. I decided to.give it a try and stopped working for us after a few days so I returned it.

Iβll first start by saying that Iβm not a huge fan of shock less collars, a shocking collar is perfectly safe is used correctly. From personal experience I can also say that most dogs will ignore shock less collars because there is no real reason to want to obey them.
Shocking collars will have three warnings beep, vibrate and shock. With barking shocking collars you just have to keep the shock feature engaged for about a day and you can pretty much disable it afterwards. Dogs will associate a beep with a follow up shock so they will immediately behave just by hearing the beep. Dogs also remember scents so they will recognize the collar just by wearing it, I have a barking collar and a training collar and my dog knows exactly what he is wearing so he will behave differently depending on the collar he is wearing.
Shock less collars are not very effective because there is no reason to fear it, it will startle a dog at the beginning but they will eventually ignore it. Shock-less collars are effective if a dog has some experience with a shocking collar but I donβt see it necessary to get a shock-less collar since shocking collars can have the shock warning disabled and be left with only beep and vibrate.
This collar does have some things that I havenβt seen before in a collar. The warning sound is not a beep but instead a spray sound. I guess this can be very usable if you begin training with a physical spray bottle so they at least associate the spray sound with an actual physical spray, like i said, there has to be some sort of physical correction to give the dog a consequence to their bad behavior which a sound alone just wonβt do.
The collar also has a vibration sensor on the back to absolutely ignore fake triggers. The sound wonβt happen unless the back sensor picks up vibration from a bark, Iβm not really sure is the collar also listens for bark sounds. The back sensor not being positioned correctly is also the reason why the collar doesnβt seem to work for some, the collar has to be adjusted properly.
Overall the collar looks well made and has a loud enough warning with auto adjustable tone length based on the dogβs feedback. The spray sound can be more effective if used at the beginning with a physical sprayer. The battery is rechargeable and claims to last a long time. If you absolutely donβt want to use a shocking collar then this would be a pretty good alternative, the only downside it has is that the connector for recharging is not common like a USB connector so you do have to keep the included cable safe.

It goes off when my dog is just laying there. It goes off after she goes potty and shakes her bottom and it scares her. She pees on herself with the regular vibrating one that never happened.
Rabbit –
Not effective at all

I have a little dog who goes nuts any time people or cars are outside. He’s constantly barking at neighbors, delivery people, and any visitor who rings the door bell. He’s very nice in person, he just barks like a little banshee. We’ve tried the collars before that make noises, or vibrate, but they usually require a remote which means I have to have the remote on me and push the button at the right time. I have 3 kids, and it’s just a lot of work to keep track of a tiny remote and push buttons. Anyway, I was excited to try this!
It works very well. He can still grumble, growl, and snort (he’s a pug mix) and it doesn’t set off the noise. But if he barks loudly, it gives off a sound that is just a loud “white noise” and a vibration. As soon as it goes on, he suddenly behaves himself. Now when he sees someone out walking past the house, he’ll sit in front of the window and sort of growl and grumble but not actually bark. So far the battery hasn’t had to be recharged again, since the first charge. I think it’s been about 2 weeks.
