Works very well to actively train a dog but the stand-by battery drain is horrendous.
First, We only have the dog wearing the collar when outdoors and off-leash but often go for rather long walks off leash in the woods. Our dog is now very well behaved (in good part thanks to this collar) so we have the dog wear the collar just in case it sees something unusually exciting or gets too close to a road. Even then, when we have to actually use the collar most of the time the audio cue is enough to snap him out of focus.
That being said, I find that we’re replacing the batteries after only a few walk days. it’s both expensive and terrible for the environment. Do yourself a favor and get this one : http://www.amazon.ca/PetSafe-PDT00-13623-Little-Static-Trainer/dp/B0085V24IC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1429049016&sr=8-1&keywords=PDT00-13623
Saving on buying batteries will make up for the higher price in no time.

Extremely satisfied, so far. This little collar works very well on my little 7 pound Yorkie. It is not too big, bulky, and heavy like some of the previous ones I have tried. I did have to cut the collar down to its absolute smallest size to snugly fit her small neck. It is very easy to put on and take off and only takes a second or two. The remote is not complicated and is very easy to operate. The range seems to be as advertised and adequate.
I tried the “shock” feature on myself and it really does not hurt, it just gets your attention. After one or two little “shocks,” I now only have to use the “beep” button to correct unwanted behavior. This particular unit does cost more than quite a few of the other ones that I have tried, but it seems to be well worth the extra money to have a reliable training collar that actually works like you want it to. At least so far. I have only had this collar for about two months (June 2016) and to date, I highly recommend this collar for training small dogs.

This product is so poorly engineered. First of all, I am not a negative person that likes to post negative reviews and spread negativity. In fact I’ve had this product for over a year and noticed the flaws from day 1 but figured I’d try and make the best of it. However today was the last straw. There’s 4 main reasons this product is ineffective and I even recorded a video to explain it… […]
1. The strap: the strap is a slippery nylon so it does not stay tight around the dogs neck. When it loosens throughout the day, the electrical shockers do not stay snug against the dogs neck so therefore it fails to actually shock the dog (and therefore does not do its job!) Now, I have a 7 poind dog so its not like they are incredibly strong and that’s why the strap loosens… see the video and I show how easy it is to loosen!
2. The on/off button: the button is a simple push button on the shock device. Well, since it’s a push button, it’s very easy for the dog to push on and off throughout the day as the dog rubs up against it. For example when our dog lays down in the crate. Why is this a big deal???
Two reasons: first of all if the device is OFF when we want it on, then when we go to shock the dog to discipline it, the shocker is off! Therefore we cannot shock the dog and therefore it doesn’t work! Whats the point of getting a shocker if we cant use it. Secondly, when the device turns ON when we want it off it drains the battery and costs us a lot of money to replace batteries.
3. The battery housing area on the shocker device: the batteries are inserted into the device and a plate that you screw in covers the battery housing area. This plate gets stuck and is very difficult to remove when replacing the batteries. So when you go to pull it off to access the batteries the batteries go flying. It’s like when you’re trying to open a bag of chips and they suddenly open and the chips go flying everywhere!
4. The battery housing area on the remote: This is EQUALLY as frustrating as #3. The batteries do not sit well inside of the remote and it’s a pain in the butt to get the battery cover back on the shocker when you put the new batteries in. We finally gave up and just taped the battery cover back on. So ghetto!

I’ve ordered two now, and the sound button works but the stimulant one both haven’t, thankfully amazon has made it super easy to send them back, so I’m grateful for that.

This is a freaking miracle worker. My 8 pound Chihuahua has run my life with his non-stop aggressive barking for six years. Recently, I relocated and it was just insane all the barking. I had the idea of shock collars… I tried it on myself… and on the low setting of 3 it worked well. I love that it also comes with sonic sound feature, because he responds to that and the vibration or shock is not even needed. This is a safe and humane product. It has put me back in βloveβ mode with my little guy. Itβs a great price. I originally bought it and paid 150.00 for it, and then I returned it, when I found it online at this price. Itβs the find of the century. Try it on yourself first, because the higher levels could be harmful to a small dog and pay close attention when you are using the remote that you donβt accidentally up the shock, if you are using it. Iβm actually using it for training and it has made it possible for me to introduce him to people and hopefully I can take him to the βdog parkβ soon.. I love it!!!!!!!!

I have two units. Has worked to stop 1 dog from barking excessively and stopped the other dog from jumping up and getting too rambunctious. I only used the static a few times and now only need the sound warning.

For the price, you can’t beat this. I never was one to want to use a shock collar but we have a one year old cocker spaniel who has decided that chewing and potty training was a rebellious life decision. She never had any problems until 3 or 4 months ago. We rarely catch her in the act, but just showing her the remote makes her lower her head. We are using positive reinforcements as well. I think she is coming around. The several levels is great for when she has a fresh cut. My 7 year old son found this easy to use when we may not be in the same room and she started to chew on something. The batteries lasted about 2 weeks that came with the device. We bought additional batteries from the Dollar Tree (2 to a pack) and this is week 4 on the same ones. We turn it off when we take it off. She is not afraid of it at all and does not get in her way. I would recommend this product to anyone having issues with training.
