This collar is NOT EFFECTIVE in training your pet. I typically am not one to leave product reviews, but my disappointment with this product has me wanting to warn others. It is a good quality collar and after a few days of use it appears to fit comfortably & looks nice on my dog. HOWEVER, the Bluetooth technology needs much improvement (aka, it SUCKS)! I bought the collar to deter my 75 lbs. dog from getting into the trash and barking aggressively. I really liked that the app could be downloaded on more than one phone so other family members can support training efforts and we’re not always hunting for the remote when the dog begins unwanted behavior… BUT, it does not matter how many mobile devices or what type of device you have the app on it DOES NOT stay connected. The app closes and disconnect as soon as you open another app, your device goes to sleep or your lock screen is activated. So, when the pet is caught doing an unwanted behavior and immediate response with the training collar IS NOT POSSIBLE! When the dog begins barking agressively, even with my phone already in hand, I must unlock phone, find & open the app, wait for the device to detect and connect to the collar, most of the time it does not connect on the first try, soooo I try again until it finally connects taking 2-3 tries with 15-30 seconds each attemp. Then I press the alert/vibrate as a warning and finally the static shock to deter the unwanted behavior… the whole process takes a minute or more which just teaches my dog he can bark obsessively for that entire time before he receives punishment for the behavior. The connectivity is the real issue… I have cheap bluetooth speakers in our home that stay connected better than this collar 😕. The inability to provide an immediate training response with this collar is very counter-productive behavioral pet training. We have used other PetSafe remote collars in the past and they worked far better than this bluetooth-app led version. I am returning this product and DO NOT recommend it to any pet owner looking to use a training tool to deter unwanted behavior in their pet.

My dog is a big 150 pound 9 month Rotti puppy And at the age where he is very determined with the attitude I’ll do what I want. however this does work to help him understand what is right what is wrong and come when he’s called. The tone means good boy along with positive pets and reinforcement, the buzzer means come and the static means that is wrong you need to stop. Because he is so big he tends to ignore it until it gets up to 13 or 14 or 15 like I said he’s a very stubborn determined boy. The static does not hurt him, he does not make a sound he knows that it’s time to stop whatever he’s doing. Actually I think it’s more of an attitude oh will you stop nagging at me. I did have a different brand it got stuck and wouldn’t stop correcting I had all I could do to get that collar off my dog that is why I bought this one because it works with my phone I trust this company and this collar. Quick delivery great price.

When it works it’s great but unfortunately I’ve purchased 2 and within 7 months of purchase they’ve both broken. First one stopped connecting no matter what I did, when I tried to return it the window had closed. Because the collar is great when it works I purchased another. This one worked with minimal connection issues but one of the charging prongs fell apart. I’d love to exchange this broken one for another but again the window passed. I won’t buy a third

Terrible. Had it for a week, set it up & tested it. But the 10x I’ve needed to use it, it hasn’t connected, not even once!! Even in the same room. Terrible, sending it back.

I love the idea of having the app on my phone instead of searching for a remote. The problem we had was it took upwards to a minute to get the app to reconnect with the collar. When my young dog needs correction, it’s immediate. Not a minute after. If it stayed connected, it would be great.

I absolutely love this collar. I have an Australian Shepard mix (1 1/2 years) who is VERY smart and VERY mischievous. Specifically, I bought this to help prevent him from eating the special “chocolates” at the dog park. I got tired of shouting and running after him, and didn’t want to have to pay to deworm him again. This worked perfectly. He responds quickly the vibrate feature, so I rarely have to use he shock feature, which I like. Additionally, I’ve started using this on a daily basis in the home. He was smart enough to know that he could get away with certain things (getting into trash/recycle/litter box) when I wasn’t within eyesight. This collar has allowed me to teach him that I know he’s still doing these things, even if I can’t see him, so he’s not allowed to do them ever. It has made training him so much easier, and I highly recommend this if you have a super active dog that needs a little guidance!

Cons: I don’t need the collar when I’m with my dog. I had hoped it would help consistently enforce rules when I can’t be home with him. I already have a wifi water detector that triggers a sound when the puppy urinates in the wrong spot, but sound alone does not deter the behavior.
I took a risk and bought this product in the hope that with a little observation I could control it from a nearby bluetooth-enabled computer in addition to the app. But however the pairing and PIN system work, it does not respond to the same commands issued by my phone when those commands come from my computer.
Pros: For anyone in the beginning stages of training, intending to use this while right next to your dog, this may be a good thing, albeit a little overkill. It works as advertised. But it is not a “smart” device in the sense of internet connectivity, statistical analysis capabilities, or interoperability with any other software.

Petsafe are building on there brand to charge like crazy the collar is useless the vibration is barely perceivable the statis shock wont work on my aussi cuz of hes hair unless at level 12 making it a 3 level collar the sound not really loud and for 200$ youd expect that there would be an anti bark fonction with the collar i had the old version of this collar and it had the anti barking this one you need two different collar for that and the new version keep deconnecting none stop and for static i always test those collar onto myself first to be sure and to gage the level not to hurt my dog i didnt felt nothing from 1to 4 on my on neck and 5 felt something 6 was there but wouldnt have boter me enough for me to stop what i was doing 7 is when it was annoying to beging with and vibration barely felt it so half of the setting are useless and that on me on my neck with out fur and in a relax situation i really dont recommand and im returning it pet safe is losing it even there other smarth device are ridiculously expenssive and are not so great sad use to be a great company but they sat on it
