    I’ve had this book for years, through at least 4 moves. I can’t say enough good things about the book. I loved it so much that a co-worker was discussing yoga with me yesterday, and I brought this book into work to show it to her. I had actually bought it in a book store for much more back then. But she asked where to get it, and I suggested we look on Amazon. I can’t believe it’s here for such a great price. She’s going to order it.

    The things that make this book so superb, in my opinion, is:
    – it shows you what muscles the yoga poses target. If there’s an area you want to focus more on, it’s so easy to do.
    – it explains breathing. Not just breathing exercises, but also the breaths you take while in other yoga poses.
    – it has the Indian names of the poses. As an Indian-American, this is important to me that any instruction stay true to it’s roots.
    – many poses have various positions (first, second, third) corresponding to novice, intermediate, advanced. So you can develop & continue to strengthen your core.
    – it comes with big pictures and descriptive text. Once you have practiced the poses regularly, the pictures are enough to guide you in your daily program.
    – it has an area that focuses on posture.
    – it has separation based on what it helps with; for example, an area of the book to help with mobility.

    It’s just the easiest yoga & pilates reference book I’ve seen so far. I have used it for years, and refer to it regularly.

    This book is all about going over the basics. Nothing new here. Routines listed are so short, not worth even puting it in a book. The book itself is huge, and heavy, and hard to hold. I wouldn’t waste my money on it if I were you. Very dissapointing, really.

    The book is exactly what I wanted- I had it a few years ago and used it often, then moved a few times and it was lost in the shuffle. The pictures are detailed and the explanations are thorough, including beginner moves to more advanced positions. I like how it groups positions by category and muscle groups, so that you can put together different workouts that work for you, at your own pace and with a level of difficulty that suits you. It is excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this book a third time, either as a gift or if I lose it again (I have a lot of books, so sometimes I’ll “lose” one and find it a year later- which is probably what will happen now that I’ve bought this again). I received my book within a week of ordering it, and it was in great condition, so no complaints there either.

    This book fuses pilates and yoga so wonderfully. The descriptions of the poses are fantastic. The photos are inspiring. I have attended a Jonathon Monks class and this book represents his ideals and spirit. I am a yoga teacher and when I need inspiration I love to pick up this book.
