Poetic Guardian Case For Moto G Stylus 5G 2024

Before I provide my review, I’ll note that the Poetic Guardian Case comes with two front frames. You need to pick one of them and place your phone between the front frame and the back frame and snap them together.

One front frame has a clear film in it, intended to protect your phone’s screen. This frame is somewhat sturdy and I believe it would provide more stability and protection for the phone in case of dropping. This frame flexes when squeezed, but offers more resistance than the other front frame. I believe it makes the whole case more robust.

The second front frame is called “bare” because it is a frame without any film or screen protector. It flexes more easily when squeezed than the other front frame and I believe it would make the case less robust.

I used the “bare” front frame. Why? Two reasons. First, I already have a screen protector on my phone. I’ve used Supershieldz clear PET screen protectors for many years on other phones and I find they protect phone screens, absorb scratches, are easily wiped free of smudges, and they do not interfere with the ‘touch’ on the touch screen. Second, I tried the combination of the Supershieldz PET protector and the Poetic front frame with the film. That combination interfered with stylus writing on my phone. Since I’m satisfied with the SuperShieldz protection for my phone, I decided to use the bare frame of the Poetic case.

I appreciate that Poetic provided the “bare” frame as a choice. It’s definitely a plus.

I will give this case three ratings, and combine them at the end for an overall rating. I’ll rate the protection it provides, how it looks, and what features it adds.

First, I rate this case 4.8 for protecting the phone *without interfering with the functions of the phone.*
This case adds some bulk to the Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 phone. All of edges have a hard rubber-like material on them. The cut-outs for the usb-c port and the headphone port have little ‘doors’ on them to keep out dust. Three of the four corners have very sturdy looking bumpers. The corner next to the stylus cut-out might be a bit weaker. One drop test I did caused the stylus to pop, but it remained in its slot.

The right and left edges of the case have ridges which can easily be gripped, to significantly decrease the odds of dropping the phone.

The back and front of the phone are clear and smooth which would normally increase the likelihood of dropping the phone. However, the front and back of the case have large enough bevels that are easily grasped, so I don’t believe the smooth surfaces of the back and front of the phone will add to the risk of dropping the phone.

Without any case, the edges of the Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 phone have a very smooth texture. There’s almost no raised edge around the phone’s surfaces. That makes the naked Moto phone look stylish, but also makes it more likely to be dropped and damaged. On the plus side, the phone with no case has a faux-leather texture to prevent it from slipping when there’s no case.

This Poetic Guardian Case is superior to no case at all because of the thick edges, the easily gripped bevels, and the covers over the two ports.

Phone functions that don’t work well for me with this case:

Headphone jack: My regular headphones have a thick L-shaped plug that is too wide for the audio jack opening of most cases. This case is no exception. I needed to add a short extension to the end of my headphone cable so that I can plug in my headphones. I typically use Koss Portable On-Ear Clip Headphones.

I doubt this will be a problem for most people. When I used headphones from my Nokia 225 phone, I didn’t have any problem connecting them.

To access the tray for the SIM card and the Micro SD card, the case must be removed. This is the norm for phone cases. Unfortunately, I find it is a little difficult to remove the case.

Other functions of the phone do not seem to be negatively affected by this case.

My second rating is based on the case’s looks. I give this case a 4.3 rating. It is subjective, of course. The front of the case looks average. The edges of the case look above average. The back of the case is beautiful, and unique.

I bought the Scarlet Wave color and I really enjoy the red. I’ve never seen a case with a transparent back panel. Most cases are opaque and hide the back surface of the phone. This case provides a rare exception to that.

My third rating is only a 2 for the additional functions or features it adds. It not does add much. The bevels are proving to be very useful by preventing me from accidentally slipping and tapping or touching things on the phone’s screen. This phone’s edges are nearly non-existent, so it’s hard to avoid unintentionally touching things on the screen. This case is helping to prevent some of that slippage.

If you want to prop up your phone at an angle, you’ll need to attach something like a pop sock or a kickstand or ring grip holder. However, usually these are attached with an adhesive, and once they are attached, they’ll most likely interfere with the phone’s Wireless Charging and Quick Launch functions, and possibly its NFC function. My strong preference is to avoid interfering with the phone’s functionality.

If you would like this phone to work with a magnetic holder in your car, you’ll need to attach that to your phone. A magnet on the back of the phone may interfere with the functionality of the phone.

OVERALL: My combined rating for this case is 4.6. I am giving more weight to the protection of the phone relative to its looks or added functionality, because after all, that is the case’s main purpose, to protect my phone.

I recently picked up the Poetic Guardian Case for my Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2024), and I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with it. As someone who tends to be a little hard on my phone, finding a case that offers solid protection while still looking good was a must. Here’s a breakdown of what I’ve found after using it for a while.

Build and Protection
The first thing that stood out about the Poetic Guardian Case is how sturdy it feels. The case uses dual-layer protection with a hard polycarbonate outer shell and a soft TPU inner layer, which makes it feel like it could handle just about anything. I’ve dropped my phone a couple of times already (oops), and I’m happy to report that it’s survived without a scratch. The raised edges around the screen and camera are a great touch—they make sure that if you place your phone face down, the screen or lens never actually touches the surface.

This case definitely gives me peace of mind that my phone is well-protected, even though it’s not as bulky as some other rugged cases out there. I can still slide it into my pocket without it feeling like a brick.

Design and Usability
The clear plastic back does show fingerprints a little, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me since I clean it off every so often.

All of the buttons are easy to press, and the cutouts for the charging port, fingerprint scanner, and stylus are spot-on. Speaking of the stylus, I can still pull it out easily without having to remove the case, which is a nice convenience since I use it often. The fingerprint scanner works just as well through the case, which is a big plus—I was worried that the case might interfere with it, but it hasn’t been an issue.

Size and Fit
I was pleasantly surprised by how slim this case is for the level of protection it offers. It doesn’t add a lot of bulk to the phone, which makes it easy to carry around and use with one hand. It’s not the thinnest case on the market, but it strikes a good balance between durability and portability.

Installation is a breeze—just snap it on, and it’s good to go. It fits snugly and doesn’t feel like it’s going to slip off at all, but it’s also not a pain to take off if I ever need to.

Things to Keep in Mind
No Waterproofing: Like most cases in this price range, it doesn’t offer waterproofing, so if you’re looking for something that can withstand submerging in water, this isn’t the case for you.
Smudges on the Clear Back: The transparent back tends to pick up fingerprints and dust pretty easily, but again, it’s nothing that a quick wipe won’t fix. It’s just something to keep in mind if you’re particular about how your phone looks.
Basic Look: Some people might find the design a bit plain, especially if you’re used to cases with bold colors or unique patterns. This one is more minimalist, which I actually appreciate, but it’s not for everyone.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m really happy with the Poetic Guardian Case for my Moto G Stylus 5G. It offers great protection without being bulky, and the clear back lets me show off my phone’s design while still keeping it safe. The button accessibility, stylus compatibility, and raised edges for screen protection all make it super functional. If you’re looking for a durable, affordable, and stylish case that doesn’t add too much bulk, I’d definitely recommend this one. It’s a solid choice for everyday use.

Was looking for a case that I could use on my new phone. It may be a budget phone, but I didn’t want to risk anything. Very happy
