This was smaller than l expected and the pieces did not align so we had to glue a lot of it

I bought the first Poraxy kit because before C-19, I used to bring my kids to Home Depot for the weekly kit build workshop, and felt these would be something similar. And it is, but so much more! Not only are the kits fun and engaging to build, but they teach basic science and engineering principles. The instructions are not well translated, so a little mental translation is in order, but that said I have thoroughly enjoyed doing these kits with my kids, who also thoroughly enjoy and look forward to the builds. Worth every penny!

My husband and 4 year old son loved working on these together. They were pretty durable and had very easy instructions to follow.

My 10 year old and I just finished all 6 projects. We got all of them to work and they’re pretty cool but we did have some issues along the way.
The magnets on the maglev device needed to be glued down or they pop up. Glue is provided in the kit but the instructions don’t say when or where to use the glue so only after you put it all together and there are issues, you have to figure out where to glue it and then put it back together again.
Same with the tension model. You need to glue the strings to the pegs they go into or they keep popping out. Again, the instructions don’t tell you that and you need to fix it after it all falls apart and put it back together but with glue this time.
We had no problem with the marble seesaw that I can recall.
The hydraulic lifting platform had an issue for us because the wood parts that made the #5 plates were twice as thick as the holes they were to go into. I had to spend a while carving 8 holes larger to fit the thick plates. Because of that, I was really thrown off with the directions and had to backtrack. Also, the hydraulic action works but there is some friction I can’t seem to fix so the left and right sides are uneven when the platform is going down.
The holographic projection is pretty cool. We had to lay a heavy book on top of it until the glue dried so the pieces would lay on each other firmly.
The binoculars work well but in step 3, it says to place the convex part of the lens facing inward and that is contrary to what the pictures show. We ignored that instruction and the binoculars work as intended.
I’d say a typical kid would need help from an adult for these projects.
The box says the projects take 20 to 40 minutes each. For us, the hydraulic platform and the marble seesaw each took two 45 minute sessions. Maglev and tension model took about 45 minutes. Binoculars took about less than 10 minutes. Holographic projection took about 10 minutes to put together but we also had to wait for the glue to dry so that added time.

We purchased this for our 8 year old grandson for Christmas. He absolutely LOVED it!!! He built each one quickly and pretty easily and was very excited about all six of them. He couldn’t wait for us to see what he had done! We plan on getting him another one for his up coming 9th birthday. We would highly recommend this kit!!!
