I have been using for 1 year, it is a good investment.

I’ve been using my mask daily for about two weeks, and I didn’t expect much, but I can see a real difference in my facial skin. My skin looks so smooth, and the pores are smaller, and a few annoying zits have disappeared. I’m in my mid-50’s and have not yet noticed an improvement in the wrinkles, but I read somewhere that it takes 8 weeks for that, so I’m going to keep at it. I started at 5 minutes per color and have worked up slowly to 20 minutes for red and 10 minutes each for the other two if I have the time. The first time I increased it to 20 minutes, I did feel woozy afterward, but that has not happened again. My skin feels a little dry and tight immediately afterward, but I use a moisturizer and my skin feels great. The mask did come with a little bottle of collagen/protein skin gel. The gel is nice, but I use my regular brand and it works fine.
About the device – yes, it is a bit heavy and awkward. I never did figure out how to use the strap to hold the mask on, so I use it lying on my back. I have a small face and a big nose, so the opening for my mouth does not quite fit right and the device rests against my upper lip or chin unless I hold it in place, and I have started putting a bandaid at the top of my nose because the mask was leaving a mark where it rested. Those issues might not exist if my face was the right size, lol, or if I could figure out how to use that darn strap. Otherwise, the mask does not make contact with your skin – it has soft rubber around the eye holes that lift it off the face a little bit and also serve to block most of the light from your eyes, although you can see enough light to know what color you are using and when it goes off (handy, since the timer does not have any alarm on it, it just kind of shuts off when your time is up.)
The device has two cords – one goes from the mask to the control pad, the other goes from the control pad to the electric outlet. Once connected, it’s about 5 or 6 feet long. Either cord can be unplugged when you’re done for easier storage. The control pad allows you to easily choose which color you want to use, how bright it is (scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being the brightest), and it has a simple timer you can set in 5 minute increments. The lights do not get hot, although just being under a plastic mask for that length of time can make you kind of warm.
All in all, I’m happy with the product.
18 Month Update: After about a year, the USB cable connecting the mask to the control pad got loose and it was more trouble than it was worth to keep wiggling the cord to make the mask stay on. By that time, I hadn’t noticed any dramatic improvement – I’m still wrinkled, lol – so I packed up my mask and put it away. After a couple of months, I was horrified to feel how loose the skin on my face felt. I bought a new USB cable for the mask and started using it again. While there is nothing that is probably noticeable to other people, my skin has gotten a little tighter again after a little over a week, and my face just looks less tired to me. It took going without my mask for a while to realize that it does do something, just not as much as I’d hoped. But then again, I don’t use it very long, twenty minutes at the most, maybe four days a week.

I’m reviewing the 7 color LED mask by Project E Beauty. Before purchasing this mask, I used the Neutrogena mask and the NuFACE Trinity with the red light attachment. Even though the comparisons between this mask and those products won’t help you pick between this model and another one that’s virtually identical, some of the pros and cons may help in some other way.

    PROS:
There are a ton of LED lights in this mask!

While the mask itself is way bigger than my face, I don’t see that as negative because the number of lights and the size allows my entire face to get light.

You can increase or decrease the brightness of the lights for each color.

I liked the rubber around the eye sockets, but then I didn’t because I felt like maybe it was inhibiting the lights to get to my under eyes. HOWEVER, I am back to liking them as I’ve noticed that they don’t totally block the lights, just soften them…which I’m sure is better for your eyes in general.

I like that the mask sits close to your face so the wavelengths aren’t getting diffused in the air between. That is what I liked about the NuFACE vs the Neutrogena mask because the NuFACE sits directly on your skin so you get the maximum amount of penetration where the Neutrogena sits really far back off your face and has very few lights, so you don’t get the ultimate benefit.

I like the controller. It’s simple and straight forward with times that can be adjusted in 5 minute intervals, increase and decrease the brightness, and change the color (wavelength) of the lights. Nothing more and nothing less. Simple.

The quality is great and the cost is good. After researching different models, I constantly found that this company and the 2 models of this mask were on every list out there and with a consistent high rating.

It looks freaky and horror movie like, so it’s fun to just give that little creepy head tilt in response to someone’s question while you’re using it.

    CONS (and my solutions):
The most common complaint is the weight. It’s “heavy” when worn with just the head strap and no other support and pulls down on your eye sockets and nose. When compared with the Neutrogena mask, it’s a significant difference, but so is the quality so the weight is worth it. I started combining putting the strap above my hair in a bun and holding it in place with my hands to take the pressure off my eyes and nose. The company and other customers offer other solutions as well, but it’s easy to figure out what works best for you.

You have to plug in to use it. There isn’t a portable option here. You have to find a spot where you can plug in and fool with the wires and be able to get comfy, so your multitasking is limited. The Neutrogena and NuFACE are both portable, though you have to hold the NuFACE in place therefore forfeiting a hand, so I have to get used to forcing myself to just sit and chill…so that’s a good thing.

I do wish that there was an option to make the lights pulse because I have read that it penetrates the skin better, but that shouldn’t be a deterrent. I believe that the next model up from this that has the neck attachment does this and I know there are other models on the market that do. The reason it should be a deterrent is because you don’t need the pulsing light to still get the benefits.

    RESULTS:
It takes about 4-6 weeks of consistent use to see results and I’m not there yet, but I started seeing improvements in my skin after a couple of weeks of doing different light combos almost every day. When I have a breakout and use the blue light to kill off any bacteria, I can see significant improvement in a couple of days. Overall I see brighter and more even skin tone and some of my deeper wrinkles are softening. I have seen a significant improvement in my anti-aging and adult acne results since incorporated this mask into the routine.

    CUSTOMER SERVICE:
They have been wonderful! I let them know about a couple of minor issues that didn’t prohibit the mask from working at all, the hyaluronic acid serum that’s included had a faulty top and a small screw fell out of the mask and couldn’t be put back in, but they have been quick to send a replacement even though I told them it wasn’t necessary. It’s due to arrive any day now.

    OVERALL:
This mask does exactly what I had hoped it would and I’ve enjoyed working with their customer service. If you’re looking to up your LED Light Therapy routine or start one, this is a great mask and I definitely recommend it.

One of the worst products I have ever used. It was so uncomfortable it gave me massive headache and bruises on my nose. Returned it

I just got this yesterday and have only used it once so it’s too early to tell how it will work but I felt compelled to write about even the first experience with it. I’ve had the last remnants of a rosacea flareup on my face and my cheeks have still been pretty red and blotchy. So for my first session, I set it on the blue light for 10 minutes. What I noticed immediately is that with the strap on and sitting up, the mask was extremely heavy on my face and felt like it was pushing downward, particularly around the eyes. It was even a little painful. Supporting it and holding it up with my hand helped a little. When the 10 minutes was up, I was frustrated to find that I was left with bad indentations above and below my eyes that took about an hour to go away. I also had a slight headache. I’m afraid to think how bad that would be after a longer session. In the morning however, what I noticed was that my skin tone was already more even on my cheeks! and I didn’t have to use as much concealer! so I’m very pleased with that! I plan to lay down when I use the mask next and use it without the strap. Hopefully that will lessen the heaviness and indents around my eyes.

UPDATE: 6/19/19 after the first few uses, I decided to do what another person commented that they were doing with the eye pads, and I pushed the rubber eye pads through the eye holes on the mask so they stayed on the outside of the mask. Using it this way eliminated the heavy pulling down feeling and left no indents or marks around my eyes and felt so much more comfortable!
