Fits in my hand (I have small hands), durable and heavy. Very good quality. The altitude marker is a bit tilted, but it works. Hopefully I will not break it. You can’t fix it in the 0 position to prevent it moving.
Despite of reviews, my manual had English.

Conforme à la description et de fabrication très correcte, cette boussole vous aidera forcément à ne pas perdre le nord ☺️
Elle dispose d’un niveau à bulle et de toutes les caractéristiques nécessaires pour se repérer et se diriger, notamment sur une carte. Phosphorescente et disposant d’un inclinomètre, d’une règle, etc, le revers de la médaille est son poids assez élevé, pas vraiment pratique pour la randonnée.
C’est cependant une bonne alternative plus durable qu’un gps.
Pour 23.83€ au moment de mon commentaire, on a un rapport qualité prix très correct.

Having been in the military, I have done a fair amount of land navigation. This compass is similar to the type we used, and I got it out of a kind of nostalgia. I found the peep function a little harder to use however. The reading is accurate in peep site. The biggest handy function for this compass is the back azimuth being right near the original heading (this is main reason I use this, so I can cut down on having to do math when out of breath). For straight line use, just line up the heading with the direction of travel and make sure it doesn’t travel right or left. Easy to use in flat mode. Inclinometer seems to work well and give good reading to be able to tell one hill from another, however I barely used it. I hate to say it was often in the way. I use a compass now mostly for orienteering, so I like a simple compass.
All this being said, I like the way that baseplate compasses are easier to use. They are better for lining up to points on a map for getting a heading, then just put the needle in the red house and that is your direction of travel. Much easier. Still fun to play with.

This is a well made heavy duty metal unit with a lot of thoughtfulness built in. I got it because i have a spreadsheet that calculates the sun height and direction based on long/lat and time of day going back 100 years. This is helpful for attorneys when folks say the sun was in their eyes (not an excuse to crash a car), but I can plug in the info and take the compass out and turn to the direction and angle to see where the sun would have been at that precise time and location. Very nice, thanks.

Der Kompass ist massiv und schön schwer. Also jetzt nicht im Sinne “schwer” dass man ihn nicht tragen kann oder so, sondern er wirkt dadurch hochwertig und robust.
Er ist ein recht vielseitiges und nützliches Werkzeug für Outdoor-Aktivitäten und ist mit folgenden Funktionen ausgestattet:
Peilkompass: Dieser Kompass ist ein Peilkompass, was bedeutet, dass er dazu verwendet werden kann, präzise Richtungen zu bestimmen, indem man ein Ziel anvisiert und die Richtung auf der Kompassrose abliest.
Klinometer: Der Kompass ist mit einem Klinometer ausgestattet, welcher die Messung von Neigungswinkeln ermöglicht. Dies ist dann nützlich beim Bergsteigen, Klettern oder bei der Geländeanalyse.
Der Kompass ist in meinen Augen ziemlich robust konstruiert und vorwiegend aus Metall.
Es ist eine Tragschlaufe und einer Schutztasche dabei, was den Transport erleichtert und den Kompass vor Kratzern oder Schlägen schützt.
Der Kompass ist offenbar flüssigkeitsgedämpft (glaube ich jedenfalls), was eine stabile und genaue Ablesung der Richtung ermöglicht. Er lässt sich leicht ablesen, aber man muss die kleine Luftblase in der eingebauten runden Wasserwaage im Auge behalten. Die sollte in der Mitte stehen, damit der Kompass gerade ist. Sonst wird das Ableseergebnis verfälscht.
Somit ist er in meinen Augen gut geeignet für Jagd, Wandern und Trekking, Klettern und Bergsteigen oder einfach allgemeine Outdoor-Aktivitäten.
Die Bedienungsanleitung ist auf Deutsch dabei. Diese wurde aber offensichtlich in einem Übersetzungsprogramm erstellt und weist so manche Formulierungsfehler auf. Man weiß aber trotzdem, was gemeint ist. So ging es jedenfalls mir.
Gewisse Grundkenntnisse sind hilfreich, aber nicht zwingend notwendig.
Also mir gefällt das Teil und ich vergebe fünf Sterne.

Ottima bussola, indicazioni affidabili, sia come bussola, sia come livella, sia come grado di inclinazione.
Materiali solidissimi ed affidabili, a prova di urto.
La lente interna permette di leggere i gradi con la massima precisione.
Nonostante il materiale massiccio, non è troppo pesante, nemmeno portata al collo.
Purtroppo, dopo il primo utilizzo, riaprendola il pendolo dell’inclinazione è rimasto impigliato e si è piegato; l’ho raddrizzato senza grandi difficoltà e non si nota nemmeno che si fosse piegato. Oltretutto non ho capito in cosa si sia impigliato, perché la superficie è completamente liscia, e l’orlo del vetro della bussola è praticamente a filo… Avrà beccato l’unico punto dell’orlo in cui fosse possibile fare presa, ma non so come abbia fatto. Penso sia improbabile che si ripeta, ma nel dubbio prima di aprirla assicuratevi che il pendolo non tocchi i bordi e sia libero, perché se è facile da raddrizzare, è anche vero che è fatto di una lamina sottilissima, e se si piegasse spesso potrebbe rompersi.
Comunque a parte questo piccolo incidente è un ottimo strumento per qualunque uso nella natura, dalle escursioni in ambienti non tracciati, alla caccia, o anche come sicurezza per non rischiare di perdersi in zone poco battute, o pure come materiale didattico per insegnare l’orientamento a bambini e ragazzi!

I have had many compasses in the past that cost 5 times more than this, and were nothing like as good.
This is a very heavy metal compass – If you are looking for a lightweight hiking compass, skip this one, but if you are looking for a strong and tough working compass, or don’t care too much about the weight, then this is probably what you want.
I have enclosed a load of pictures, they say more than I can say in words!
The inclinometer is annoying – You can take it off with 2 small Philips screws though if you don’t want it – And since most people carry phones now, they do the job better than this one.
It also comes with a useful manual (again photos!) which teaches you some of the basics.
This is an easy five stars for this one! It’s got everything.
