I love it! Fits my iPad in the size pouch with my clip on mic, in ear monitors and iPad stand. Protects the horn well.

Our son was just starting middle school (6th grade) and had already picked out the trombone. Unfortunately, he broke his ankle just before school started! Carrying a backpack was hard enough, much less a huge instrument in a hard plastic case. We tried several options and then purchased this product. We are very pleased! It was expensive, but a needed expense for us and hopefully it will serve him well for years. It appears to be constructed well. There several different carrying options. He used it as a backpack for a while, but when he didn’t need those straps (and it was very comfortable that way), he has zipped those away and just carries it by the hand now. We do wish the product had more cushioning to support the instrument (it would make us feel better) but so far it has protected the trombone well. Even if we could just purchase extra inserts to provide more support and cushioning around the bell of the horn, but we haven’t found any yet. I think we will see if we can have some made…

Great gig bag! Don’t recommend checking it while flying.

This trombone case was purchased for a middle schooler that has to carry his instrument to school every other day. It’s a trombone, so it’s bulky and annoying, but the variety of straps are perfect. Shoulder style, backpack or hand carry. Trombone fits perfectly. I wish the mouthpiece had a designated spot in the case instead of in the side pocket. Putting mouthpiece in side pocket gives limited folder space. A standard music folder just fits. Almost doesn’t lol. But this specific case was chosen bc of the side pocket for music. Padding seems to be sufficient. Overall very happy.

I love the attached zippered music pouch. The interior is customizable with removable plush lined foam inserts. Plenty of room for my Conn 88H.

Excellent Case. Having both the backpack and over the shoulder strap options is very nice. Large and small bore tenors fit without issue. Case is lite and zippers work well. The compartments are well positioned. This case is great option for the price as most other similar models are much more expensive.

This Protec gig bag fits the bill nicely. My Rath 400 sits nicely with plenty of room.

I bought the Protec PL239 to replace my 15 year old Protec gig bag. This easily fits my Bach 42B with closed wrap F attachment and looks like there is room for the open wrap as well. The music pocket is large enough to hold my 12.9″ iPad Pro, which was not available when I bought my first Protec bag. The only thing I wish was different is that I carry 2 brass mouth pieces and there is only space for 1 in the pocket just to the right of the music pocket. I put the other mouth piece in there, but it just rolls around. I do carry a 3rd mouth piece, but it is a Kelley plastic and goes into the separate bag that comes with the case where I put my slide lubricant, water bottle, valve oil, mouthpiece brush, toothbrush, and toothpaste. 🙂
I noticed immediately the reduction of weight from my 15-year old Protec gig bag primarily because the old case was internally made of wood and this new one is not. So, if you have been lugging around those older cases made of wood, then you will love this bag.
I am still keeping my old bag for when I travel with my instrument because this new one does not have quite the same protection, but seems to keep it reasonably safe, just not enough to put in an airplane’s baggage hold.

So much nicer than carrying a hard case. The straps make getting around a lot easier, especially when your hands are full of other things like chairs and stands. Big pocket holds extra mouthpieces and other essentials. Highly recommend.
Yea ya Rite! –
Perfect case for my middle schooler. It’s light enough and has an assortment of handles for him to move it around. It has sufficient padding for the day to day back and forth to school. Fits a student trombone perfectly. Even has a pocket for his music book and score cards.
Most important purchasing decision for us was that there is a pocket for the slide. With other cases the foam would come loose and cause the slide to hit the bell.
