My dog has bad food and skin allergies. Fish is the least allergenic protein. I always check labels because I’ve learned when the label says salmon or fish, a secondary ingredient is often chicken or chicken broth. I’ve used this proplan salmon before with no problem. But this time my dog’s been scratching, licking her paws and tail constantly. I couldn’t understand until I checked the can’s label and saw that “liver” is the second ingredient. WTH? I can’t understand why these companies say a food is for skin and digestion but include a primary ingredient not on the label. It should be “salmon and liver” Anyway, I’ve got 9 cans left that will go to donation and my dog will have to get $100 injection to help with the itching until she gets this food out of her system,

I purchased this for my extremely picky Siberian Husky. He’s never been keen on salmon in any form (kibble, treats or wet food), however, he not only enjoyed this particular brand, he signaled he wanted more than the original amount he was fed during each feeding. I highly recommend this product.

The only thing I would say about this purchase that I do not like is whenever I get a shipment, the cans are all badly dented. I just don’t get that. I wish it would be packaged better. And it is just not this type of canned dog food, it’s all the others. And I purchase a lot of canned dog food.

There’s a lot of internet comments on Purina in general. Why? Well, some of it is generated by entitled people who feed their dogs the most expensive food they can find. Some of the bad publicity has been generated by other companies.
We have fed our five dogs for Purina. Our oldest is 15 years old, and for the most part, she still behaves like a puppy and looks pretty good for a senior. Two of our dogs have severe allergies. They both do fine on the sensitive stomach (salmon and rice) option, which is what they’ve all eaten. One of our dogs had such bad allergies as a puppy that she nearly died and looked like one of those emaciated dogs from a commerical. She spent nearly two months in ICU until the vets could figure out what food she could tolerate using normal protocols for changing food. The only thing she could tolerate was the Purina.
I always ask the vets which foods they feed their own dogs, and invariably, the answer is Purina. That in itself says a lot.
We recommend Purina. More importantly, our dogs recommend it. They like the taste, but more importantly, they thrive on it.

My dog loves the food and they mix it with the dry food same brand. I have not seen any change in scratching or skin condition.

I love to watch my little Morkie do her happy dance as I’m putting her food down for her. And, most importantly, it doesn’t make her sick!
