Amazon delivered my first violin very quickly. Within a week which was faster than expected. Well packaged and arrived in mint condition. Thank you to Canada Post for always delivering my stuff fast and intact. I am very impressed with the CVNAE. I researched alot before adjusting anything from tuning to bridge height. And don’t forget rosin 🙂 For the price, I think this is the best bang for your buck for the novice if you want an electric/acoustic violin. It is well made and has surprisingly good parts for the price. The fine tuners work well for me, better than expected. Once I properly tuned it and applied rosin I was surprised by the sound. I expected a thin sound but it was warmer than expected. Fit and finish: Parts are assembled very well, finish is not perfect, slight overspray on fingerboard and of course a bit of orange peel on the paint as you would expect for the price. That’s why I gave it 4 stars and the bridge is too tall. Easy to mod if you know how to do that and you can find alot of DIY info on the net. Overall, I think this is an excellent violin for the price with the ebony fingerboard and fittings. I shopped around before buying the Cecilio and found many with plastic fingerboards and fittings. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for their first violin, especially if you want an acoustic/electric. I have played guitar for longer than I wanna admit and and this is a welcome change, a different animal. I can’t wait to play it through my 5150 🙂 I love it. I hope this helped someone 🙂

Average sound and box was opened and no user guide in it.
I was disappointed and I have decided to give 2 stars , they failed in proper delivery and parts were missed.

If you’re a beginner looking for an acoustic/electric violin with an antique varnish finish, this particular model might be a good option for you.

The violin is well-made and feels sturdy in your hands. The antique varnish finish gives it a nice vintage look, which is a nice touch. The sound is good and the instrument holds its tune well.

One of the biggest selling points of this violin is the fact that it is an acoustic/electric hybrid. This means that you can plug it in and amplify the sound, which is great for live performances or recording sessions. The electronics work well and produce a clean sound with minimal feedback.

However, there are a few downsides to this violin. One is that the included bow is not of the best quality, so you might want to consider purchasing a separate bow if you plan on playing frequently. Another is that the overall sound of the instrument is not as rich and full as you might expect from a higher-end violin.

In summary, this is an okay beginner’s acoustic/electric violin with an antique varnish finish. It has some nice features and a good sound, but there are some downsides to keep in mind. Overall, it’s a decent option for a beginner who is just starting out and looking for an affordable instrument.

I’m a newbie, so I really can’t compare the sound of this violin to any other. That being said, I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of this musical instrument. The painted body of the violin is gorgeous. A gleaming white that seems to sparkle in sunlight. The finger board and chin rest are a contrasting black which gives this violin a showboat appearance. The fit and form seems sturdy and very well put together. It is very light but feels very solid. Everything arrived in tact with no broken or disrupted parts. (Unlike other electric violins I saw reviewed) interestingly, a sheet of paper accompanied the violin that instructed you bring it to a luthier if anything is amiss, I doubt one would bother with that expense and just return it. So be advised. The case is very nice. The inside is felt lined with a hard shell with a separate felt blanket cover to protect the instrument. It also contains a four inch square closed compartment. The inside top contains space to hold two bows. The case is roomy and I can store my Kun shoulder rest with the violin with no problem. The strings and bow seemed to be well made and very useable. The musical tone seems very nice and after an hour or so the strings stayed in perfect tune for days on end. Hooked up to a small amp this violin really shines and sounds like a thousand dollars. I am very pleased with this violin. Acoustic and electric all in one for very short, money. A no brainer !
P.S. Just saw an ad on a popular violin educational website selling the exact same violin package for $399. Now, they do include free tuning….let see, I bought an $7. tuner and did it myself. So Amazon’s price makes this buy so much sweeter !

It was $275 cad delivered in 2020. Researched the manufacturer first for quality of manufacture. Had it customized by the local violin doctor for another $165. better Strings, lower bridge, german made tail. Tuning pegs seated tighter for double hole support. Technician liked the quality, and pickup after putting it through its paces. He was smiling.
Electric pickup works great. My father worked as a repair tech for 45 years. It got his approval.
Not a strat. Excellent quality for the money for beginner or mid level after tweaks.
My son loves it! His 3rd Violin! Good enough for me.

40 years playing guitar, complete newbie to the violin. First, the instrument looks beautiful and comes with everything you need safe and sound in it’s own case. It’s completely set up and ready to tune and play. The white has a subtle sparkle to it that I really like. It does smell like paint upon opening but that will dissipate, albeit slowly, very slowly. It is very loud unplugged and sounds like itself when plugged into an amp. I had no trouble getting it to produce distinguishable notes using the bow, rosin and strings that it comes with. Yes, the back of the neck is unpainted but that is how it’s supposed to be. I replaced 2 of the 4 strings with D’Addario preludes when I accidentally broke them by using the wrong peg for the wrong string and I actually prefer the sound of the stock strings, they seem more articulate. I’ve had no trouble tuning it and it keeps it’s tune for a few days at a time, although I always tune any of my stringed instruments before playing them.

Before changing anything, whether bow, strings, rosin or shoulder rest, take a look at Fiddlerman’s “109 dollar violin test” on youtube where he takes it out of the box, tunes it very quickly, and plays with everything it comes with. It’s the same violin as this one in black without the electronics. It sounds fantastic when he plays it and he is quite impressed and he is also quite impressive. The only thing I’ve had to add to this outfit is a mute because it’s so loud it was hurting my left ear. I would also recommend a snark clipon tuner if you don’t already have one. I play with the tuner clipped behind the scroll which makes it easier to know where to put your finger when you are starting out.

I am so pleased with this brand that I have also ordered their viola outfit as well.

The fit and finish of this violin is excellent. However, the acoustic sound quality out of the box leaves something to be desired, but can be improved. To begin with, put in the garbage the bow and strings. A better bow and set of strings does wonders for improving the sound of this violin. A Fiddlerman bow and string set is recommended. Acoustically this violin sound quality is not too bad with those few additions. Electrically, this violin is very good. One of the positives of this violin is that the pegs work very well, the best I have seen in Cecilio violins. If you want a better sounding low cost acoustic violin, the Cecilio CVN-500, CVN-600, or Mendini MV-500 would be preferred. The case and accessories are useful if needed. I am using this violin as a project. I installed Wittner geared pegs, a boxwood tailpiece, and Fiddlerman strings on this violin. It is still somewhat marginal acoustically, but the electric portion of this violin rocks. I don’t recommencement this Cecilio violin as an acoustic violin for the beginner, the Cecilio CVN-500, CVN-600, or Mendini MV-500 is the way to go. Wait for a sale.

Shipped to northern Canada quite fast. Arrived in perfect condition, tuned up nicely and is ready to go! I cannot remark on how it sounds as I am just a beginner, but from what I hear in Youtube videos and other reviews, I am excited to get to know how to use it!

Pictures don’t do it justice, the case is very nice and durable too after a lot of research it seems this is the best bang for my buck for a beginner violinist that wants to dabble with electric and reverb effects. 🙂
