I recently purchased a pair of open ear headphones that have been an absolute game-changer for me as a college student. One of the best features of these headphones is that they don’t drop, even when I’m on the move; I had it on at least 4 hours, it still feel extremely comfortable as it’s incredibly lightweight&portable and perfect for use during exercise or while commuting. The 15mm speaker drivers provide great sound quality, allowing me to enjoy my music or podcasts without any distortion. With a 4 hours of battery life, I can use them for a good portion of the day before needing to recharge. While there is a great color collection available, I opted for the black model. My only wish is that there was a protective case or pouch to keep them in place when not in use.
Lastly, the 2x charging cable allows me to have one at home and one in my backpack, ensuring that I can always keep my headphones charged and ready to go. So far I love it.

I did not expect much from these earphones. I have a pair of Oladance earphones that I’ve had for quite a while and enjoy quite a bit and also recently acquired a pair of OneOdio OpenRock Pro earphones that are a similar concept. This pair differs in two major ways – battery life and design.
The design of these earphones makes it more useful for exercise in my opinion. I tested this out by wearing them when doing one of my HIIT workouts where I do a lot of jumping and up/down movements like burpees. Because of the neckband, these stay in place very well. If you workout in an environment that is either quiet (don’t need noise cancellation) or you need to be aware of your surroundings (working out outside), these can be a good option. They sound very similar to the Oladance and OpenRock with perhaps a little less bass than either of those two. However, I was surprised to discover that the microphone on this headset is actually better than either of those two. I thought the microphone on the Oladance was top notch for this style of headset, but the Purity sound just a little bit clearer in quiet environments. I was able to use these for phone calls with no issues at all.
But when it comes to battery life, this has the worst battery life of any I’ve seen advertised in this category. The Oladance have 10-12 hour battery life and the OpenRock Pro claim 19 hours. I really just need a good 8 hours for a solid work day. These have good standby, but if you’re doing a lot of talking or listening, they do drain much faster.
However, when it comes to the price, these really stand out. Even the expensive colors like the white/pink verison I have are still half the price of many competitors. It bothers me a bit that different colors have different prices, but nevertheless, I think the pricing for this color variant is fine because I have that point of reference with similar models that are more expensive.
I do also hate that the charger is proprietary but do appreciate that they give you two cables in the box so you can have one at home and another in the car or at work. I do just wish that they’d gone with USB C instead, but this is an acceptable compromise for the price. I tend to expect headsets with proprietary chargers to be fully waterproof, but these are just water resistant, so I’m not sure why they couldn’t cram in a USB port and rubber cover seeing as the speaker section is pretty large. I’m assuming that because of the neckband design, they couldn’t offload extra battery or other functions in the section that would otherwise go behind your ear. There are always tradeoffs, I guess.
While I have small bags lying around I can put these in, I do also wish they’d come with even a cheap protective bag.
All things considered, I think if you are looking at something like the Aftershokz/Shokz brands (I have 2 of those headsets as well), this is a very competitive option since you get much better audio quality for a much more reasonable price. And if you are looking at something like the Oladance or OpenRock Pro, these are also worth a look, just consider the design (these are slightly less comfortable for me than the separate earpiece design), the price, and the battery life – and which aspects are the most important to you.
