This dual socket reptile light fixture seems like a very high quality product designed and manufactured by people with actual knowledge about reptile husbandry and a concern for safety. It comes with a detailed operating manual that outlines safety requirements, bulb configurations for different reptile needs, dome placement and enclosure specifications that match industry recommendations, instructions for use of all components, and a troubleshooting guide. This fixture also came with a pair of cotton gloves – these are not for heat protection but to prevent skin oils from potentially damaging the bulbs you use.
Each socket is separately wired with its own cord, plug, and on/off switch. The plugs and sockets are each clearly labelled (S1, S2), and work independently of one another. The unit arrived with both cords bundled together in an removable insulating cable management sleeve.
The dome is a well-constructed metal with a matte black exterior and reflective interior. There is a set of hooks (not a clamp) built in if you need to suspend the dome, or you can rest it on the mesh screen of your animal’s enclosure if appropriate. There is a color changing sticker on the dome that indicates when the surface temperature exceeds 113F.
The two things I will need to tinker with to make this work for me are:
– The operating manual states the dome should be placed a minimum of 30cm above the floor of the enclosure or any combustable materials. I was not aware of this when I ordered, and the top of my enclosure is only 25cm high, so I will have to set up rigging to suspend the dome from its hooks.
– Neither socket worked with the 5.0 UVB bulb I have. The 5.0 UVB bulb still works in the other fixture I’d been using, and both sockets on this new fixture work with the UVA flood I have. I attempted to troubleshoot the contact of the bulb per the operating manual without success. I will have to try a different style or brand of UVB bulb, because I otherwise really like this fixture and definitely want to use it.
I noticed REPTITRIP also makes a thermostat/timer unit designed to use with this fixture that can be purchased separately, as well as other accessories like a fogger and a heat mat. I wasn’t familiar with the REPTITRIP brand before, but I’m sufficiently impressed with this dual light fixture that I will definitely consider them for additional reptile accessories.

I bought this to use for a ball python setup. I didnt want to have to use multiple domes for multiple lights. This thing is solid. I love that it has a max of 150 watts. Most others that I looked at capped out at 100 watts which wouldn’t work for me. Each light has its own switch so you could use a day bulb and a night bulb in here and just turn them on and off as you see fit. The handles are great and make it easy to move the light without getting burned even if it was just on for hours. Great product!

This fixture has worked well for our snake tank. I like that it houses two bulbs. I use one for a daytime bulb with light, and use one for a dark ceramic heater bulb. It nicely comes with two plugs and two inline switches. I use it with two separate timers on my smart home to switch between day and night bulbs. I used smart dimmers and can control the heat output of each of the bulb to the tank.
The fixture is large, but projects heat nicely into the tank. I like that it has a wire loop to hang it from an arm above the tank. My only complaint about the fixture is that one of the bulbs I’m using didn’t make contact with it at first. I had to bend the terminal at the base of the fixture to allow it to make contact, but it works now. I’m not sure if this was a problem with the bulb or fixture, but I was able to fix it by adjusting the fixture. MAKE SURE IT’S NOT PLUGGED IN FIRST! Otherwise, the switches work reliable and It can handle more than enough wattage for my small tank. Easy to recommend for a good price.

The build is good but I put a 150w ceramic heater and it’s not even getting the hot side to 78ยฐ while my other lamp gets to 85ยฐF with a 75w ceramic head. I’m unsure if the extra inch of height is the only reason but the heat warning sticker isn’t revealing so there’s no way the ceramic is hot enough.

One fixture wasn’t working at first but I stuck my finger where the bulb goes into and pulled the metal tab out a little and the light worked fine after that. The bulb wasn’t getting a connection for power. Overall this a good light fixture for the value. The name on the side is pretty cool also.

These reptile lights work great. I have been using them on my tank, they put out a good amount of heat. I very happy with them.
