Installed roof basket and works what’s it’s for. Washed vehicle about a week later and one u-bolt was rusted by morning

I have a 2009 Honda Fit Sport and purchased these to replace one of the U-bolts that came with my kayak holder because one of the original U-bolts had stripped. Even though the description says its for a steel mesh basket or tray, these work for kayak holders as well. It was a perfect fit for my rhino rack holder.

Brackets and U-bolts appear and feel much thicker gauge and quality construction than the standard Thule hardware they are replacing. After only two seasons, the plastic wing nuts can’t be hand-tightened onto the U-bolts due to corrosion. So far after one winter, this hardware already looks and functions much better.

I added some flexible tube around the u bolt for some protection. No issue securing rack to crossbars.

I bought these as an alternative solution to mount a Yakima BasketCase to my factory aero crossbars on a 2010 Subaru Impreza and they have worked well so far. The plastic knobs feel kind of cheap too but I could be wrong. I haven’t exposed theses to winter conditions yet so I’m waiting to see how they will turn out after this.

I got a sportrack carrier but no hardware. I ordered Rhino U Bold and fits perfectly in the wholes (4″) but when I installed it it was a bit loose. I ran to Home Depot and got some flat washers and placed a second washer and it tigh pretty well. I shaked it and doesn’t move. Probably these U bold are not for Sportrack but it worked at the end. The U bolds probably will get rusty eventually. Would be great if the manufacturer can add some anti-scratch rubber washers and some strapes.

These work perfect with my Honda Pilot roof rack and Sears’ X-Cargo roof box. They are the correct shape/size for the pre-drilled holes in the box and width of the factory cross bars. These brackets are 100% better than the ones that came with the box.
My only complaint is that the u-bolts should be a little bit thicker and galvanized better. I am not concerned about their strength, but they are starting to show signs of corrosion after only 1 week at the shore.
Overall, I am very happy with them and they are a decent value.
